Get a Sanwa 30mm button. Get a Rollie 30mm translucent button.
Pop out the button plungers
If you look at the plungers the Rollie rectangular thing is a little bit longer.
Get a hacksaw, or a precise saw. I have an expensive dovetail saw.
Carefully using the clear part as a fence, cut and score into the rectangular base. Notice the kerf in the plastic.
I pinch the inner plunger into the clear part between my thumb and middle finger, and slowly run my saw across. If you have a vise, you might want to clamp your saw in the vise and run the button across it along all 4 sides.
Once you have sawn through a decent amount, you can use a precision wire cutter, or dremel or whatever to finish the job and clean up the cut. You can also just continue with the saw if you like. Sand it down with 220 grit sand paper if necessary.
Blow out the dust and install into your sanwa button.
Feels about the same as Sanwa. Rollie tops are more flatter. Also the clickity clack of the plunger is lower pitched maybe due to the 2 plastic pieces as opposed to one solid piece.
If that was me, i wouldve took advantage of that and made a whole bunch of em and sold sets of 6 for like 100 a set xD
Youre all lucky this wasnt me j/k
My experience with vinyl dye is that it does not adhere well to glossy plastic. Maybe if you scuffed it with some 220 grit sandpaper, but I would buy an extra button or three o to test just in case. In this case, it might be better to go with krylon fusion because that comes in more colors. Also if you are doing this, you should do the lightest coat possible. There may be issues getting this to fit back in with a layer of paint.
I am putting art in my mine on a stick I am currently working on, so I will not bother.
I was wondering if you sell the 30mm plungers with the plunger cap that snaps in. Basically I have 6 button bodies that need both of those pieces of plastic to function.
I think that if you wanted to manufacture 1 set, I would go with clear caps and clear plungers. Those would sell the best because you would get people wanting to replace the center of Sanwa Buttons for the tutorial above.
Also, people just wanting clear centers for your Colored Snap in Translucents or Pearl Buttons would probably get them too.
I think that if anybody wanted to use paper they could make the clear plunger white, so definitely go with clear-clear all the way.
I would probably order 18-24 if you go clear Cap w/Clear plungers.
