So uh, any more input on how we can make DeeJay better?
@Royzoga I really admire your positive spirit, most of us are pretty bitter. My top fixes would be instant knee shot whiffing on crouched opponents, lk sobat revert, hit/hurtbox fixes, character specific and on his normals. Not necessarily in that order. Maybe we’ll see the latter at some point in the not so distant future.
Would like to see Da Knut’s entire list, but we know that’s a pipe dream.
I figure being positive is all I have left. Look at dat smile, I’m trying to freaking emulate DeeJay here, haha. But yeah, I always wanna hear more. I still have fun playing him and if there’s even the slightest chance of anything getting fixed- which Combofiend already said the hurt / hit boxes will be, I’m down for constantly talking and listening to other’s opinions. But uh, I’m starting to get a little impatient, annoyed even. He mentioned that at like EVO, so almost 2 months ago, but we still haven’t even seen the updated trail mode. I WANT NEW TRIALS DAMMIT.
We need more than capcom will give us. This thread will only bring out the salt. Best possible outcome I see is v2012 deejay being tournament legal lol
Lol…I know. I want new trails too! Especially for the new characters and even the AE ones. Delayed wakeup as a training mode option, etc.
Instead of reverting some of Deejay’s nerfs and making him better in Ultra like we originally hoped, I can totally see Peter and Capcom making a new video telling us that Deejay is going to get better online…then make Edition Select a new online option like they said they would, telling us to go back to and pick 2012 Deejay instead of Ultra Deejay.

It seems like every few weeks there’s some sort of post about what each person thinks will be good for Dee Jay. Didn’t see this amount of people on the Unity forums when they were taking suggestions placating everyone with promises of listening to the community. Everyone with the “pocket Dee Jay” shows up now when their shit Dee Jay became more shit.
I think that’s roughly because most people around here felt personally offended and attacked when DeeJay received nerfs, but not buffs to justify them. We’ve even had people that don’t main DeeJay post on these forums recently, haha.
Most of the people who post anything insightful here have mained Dee jay for years, and all share the same thoughts on what he needs in general. There are specific requests from different people with different play styles, but for the most part we see eye to eye when it comes to what he needs.
Definitely could have been more communication on unity during the input stage, but seeing the direction they went doubt it would of made a difference. I read every page of the unity input, capcom used basically none of it.
Most requested buffs- upkick hitting crouchers, better ultra 1(startup and range), kneeshot hit crouchers, more damage.
Most requested buffs by competitive and advanced players (Affi, FreeJay, Slim, Kurokiba etc.)- better pokes, more advantage after landing u2, allow far st.mp to combo, fix mgu
I don’t think that a single soul thought that lk sobat would be nerfed. When Affi posted the change, I didn’t believe it
Hey we got some of those things…kinda sorta. Like, U1 range buff? Still doesn’t feel real…U2 animation ending sooner! Still super awkward…uh. Yeah. GG.
To be honest, i cant tell the difference between AE U1 and USF4 U1. Yesterday, I lost to a Cody because I landed ultra 2 and made the wrong decision after the ultra animation. It’s better but unacceptable

I don’t know man. This has been brought up before, but I feel like a lot of us…we did post on Unity when they were asking for feedback. I lurked a lot back then for sure, but when Ultra was announced and they were taking suggestions, I came on here to support ya’ll…offer my 1 cent an all, because he definitely wasn’t finished to me back in reg AE and also in 2012.
A large amount of Deejay players posted on Unity during that time, hell…probably my only few posts on Unity concerning Ultra changes to my characters. I don’t go over there ever.
But pretty much everyone asked for mostly the same things in different ways.
There’s only so many post that you can make about getting a proper reversal, better buttons, 4 frame short, Ultra 2 being safe, block/hitsun etc.
Everyone’s post just sounded redundant, but in a good way…in that we all wanted the same things. If they didn’t get it at that point, I don’t know what else we could have done to explain it to em.
They did gave us a few things we asked for. And had the nerve to take away two of his most important ones(a ground reversal that was already crappy and lk sobat with no invul anymore)…That was a shocker for real

Holy crap, please tell me I’m not the only one. I swear U1 feels completely unchanged. One of the reasons I use it now though is for the chip out, against characters that I can’t do like fake cross cr lp cr lp xx EX MGU Dash U2 because of their good reversals, or just characters that it won’t work on without cr MP consistently. Forces me to play more defensively too and makes me less pissed off if I go for an Ultra, read it right, input it right, comes out right, but whiffs or fails for some reason. Thanks for at least confirming that I’m not as crazy, haha.

That’s what I’m saying, haha. I’m not saying that taking away Low Sobat was fair or justified, I’m saying that it’s unfair because we didn’t get something to compensate the loss of something like that. Or something like that at least.
No bro…I get what you’re saying. I’m just saying there’s Nothing they could have given Deejay that would justify nerfing those two tools imo.
Because realistically what could they have given him to justify that? Better hitboxes/hurboxes? Buttons? As I said before…those things are great, we’ve asked for them and he definitely needs better ones than what they gave us in Ultra, but we’ve lived without them for so long, I just have gotten used to his normals and hitboxes the way they are with every iteration of Deejay in SF4.
They may have gotten slightly better in Ultra depending on who you talk to, but they’ve always been the same more or less to me.
Lk sobat losing low invincibility… we never have tasted that until this current form of him.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just too rigid when it comes to this subject. It’s definitely the old man in me.

This shit makes me want to beat someone’s ass over at capcom.
In the arcade version, Yun had an invincibility nerf to hk upkicks. They removed it in the console changes. The only nerf this character got was command grab does 1 damage now. +1 lunge punch is so dumb. Obviously he’s one of the main benefactors of Red focus, being able to hit conifrm into RFC with only 2 hits for minimal scaling. This character was already high tier in AE and they buffed him… a lot
Akuma was top tier and the only nerf he got was the srk nerf and DWU. And they figured that was so severe they need to make a long range heavy poke special cancellable. That shit is so godlike. This character already had almost every tool in the game, and they game him more tools. Also cl.mk forcing stand is super nice for him.
Sakura was top tier and she got the same thing. Far st.hp cancellable is godlike. Shes sustained a j.hp fix and DWU hurt her, but meaty level 3 fireball setups still work vs DWU. So yea, she’s hardly any worse at all.
Cammy was super top tier and got major nerfs all around, but they still gave her a brand new tool with the hooligan into dive kick.
Viper was also high tier. Buffed with a nice new tool. Given the cr.mk cancel. That’s like her longest poke.
DeeJay was low tier and they REMOVED TOOLS that he’s always had. I seriously can’t believe it. I can’t describe my rage over their idiocy.
“Let’s give the top tier characters new tools and more options and then remove them from one of the worst characters in the game. Not only should we remove one of his staple tools, we should reduce his damage too. But hey, we gave him a 4 frame cr.short and he has a new link for 10 more damage, so that should more than make up for those nerfs right?”
Ultra changes are garbage. They’re idiots. They put in DWU to nerf the crazy offense characters, but then to offset it, they buffed all the characters it hurts, and nerfed the ones they thought it would help. That logic makes absolutely 0 sense whatsoever. Why even add DWU if you’re not going to let it truly do it’s job. All those stupid offense characters are still at the top. It really makes me rage thinking about this stuff.
On topic, Da Knut’s list is basically as comprehensive as it gets.
Deejay will never get what he needs until top 8 players main him. Look at adon. Nerfed his st. Hk, OMG OMG IM NOT PLAYING HIM ANYMORE ok you can have it back we’re sorry.
If jwong, kbrad, sanford, tration, prrog, daigo fuudo and the like all switched to deejay in ae, we would have a much better character.
