I can barely do combos in SF, since I’m spoiled by games with more lenient input times. When I used to play Yun, I could BARELY perform simple combos such as: cr.lp, cr.lp, lp, mp, dp+mk. In this combo, I could just never get the MP to connect, either it would be too slow, or just not come out at all. I don’t mash the shit out of the buttons, I try to time them as best I can.
What’s a good way to get used to the input times in this game? I really want to get good at it and start doing some combos.
Ugh, this is probably cuz I’m using a 360 controller. I wish I could get a fightstick atm
this is no relation with your pad or stick with both you can combo easily with some practice and patience,
when you press the buttons to combo, you have to take your time and train yourself at doing small combo first, for each characters and each kind of hit (low, medium, high) there is a timing to respect so, just keep trying buddy !
To be honest, I didn’t start playing fighters seriously until a few months ago. I started out with an “easy” one (Blazblue) and eventually made my way over to Street Fighter not too long ago. I really, really, love this game, but it’s just so different from the other fighters I’m used to, so I’m having a hard time adjusting. Hopefully over time with some practice I can get better!
I’ve been in Training Mode for a while, practicing linking Fei Long’s normals, linking normals into rekkas, and linking normals after chicken wing, I’m actually starting to get the hang of it (and I’ve finally found my true SSF4AE main [you see, in any fighting game that’s not Smash Bros or Dissidia, I struggle to find my main sometimes]).
Of course, I’ll probably be up all night practicing.
If the normal doesn’t come out, you’ve done it too quickly. If it gets blocked, you did it too slowly. That should help you figure out the timing a bit.
Definitely get rid of the 360 controller asap. That thing is so bad.
