How to deal with long distance characters like

Megaman . Hi SRK forums, I’m pretty new to the forum and the game itself . As i was playing online, I encountered a Zero/Megaman player with great pressure abilities from Zero . I can defeat him with patient yes but once he switches to Megaman, I cannot get close to him as much as can . He will angle his rapid fires and charges with a 2ndary blaster for more pressure and punish in mid air if I will IAD to him then he would super me. That being said, I have gotten to him a few times, but is there any suggestions or advice for me to close in Megaman ? I personally use Polymar/Saki , and once Saki gets on the stage, it’s an all out crossfire . Thanks !

Try picking up another character with some long range abilites. Zero, Joe the Condor, and Tekkaman Blade would do nicely. Polymar is flat out useless against a trigger-happy Volnutt.

Also, Saki can outprojectile Megaman anyday, so just outpressure him with her granades and the unblockable shot super.

Ah I see, well I was playing around with Zero (regardless of the massive zero spammers on wifi) his pokes are fast and only I came up with 20.3 damage combo with bbq at 20%, and 14.9 with 10% . ( sentsuizan, 5b,2b,5c(one hit)xxbbqxx, 5b,2b,5c(one hit),launcher, j.bx2, midairjump, j.b, Srk C) Not sure if Zero’s health and Saki’s together would be a long lasting team but for Volnutt’s case yes ? Any input on this is nice . Btw thanks for the advice TaurusOxford .

Saki is anti-Megaman, also projectiles eat up a lot of Megaman’s shots. Morrigan absolutely wrecks Megaman, her projectile will eat even a machine gun blast.

For Saki give the Experimental Positron Cannon a try. Super Jump a lot.

Well, Volnutt doesn’t much damage anyway just with standard machinegun fire. If you’re looking for someone other than Zero, I still recommend Condor and Blade. Both of them have a long-range grab move that will put volnutt right at your feet, so then you can pressure him with close-range attacks and not give him a chance to machinegun spam you anymore.

Thanks, I never would have thought of that , Will mess around with it . Would 22B do any good vs Mega for space control ?

I’ll check them out and see what I can do, I should stop trying to combo when they are blocking, trying to break the habit or else I’ll get punished ): Polymar, or just anyone in general I should stop trying to combo when they are blocking

if you combo someone that’s blocking, baroque, or try mixups off of “safe” special moves (gamble, but it can pay off)

Cool side note with joe as a megaman killer. His shirukens go through megas machine guns and his shiruken hyper goes through megas machine gun hyper

I’ve been playing more and more as I got use to when to shoot my 5C and my 22B for spacing, though i do not really know how to make use of my 22C since its one shot or nothing kinda deal or else I’ll have to charge it again . Another thing is I’ve played a mirror match on someone wifi playing Saki, pressuing really good with the experimental lasers from full screen and bbq to fire another one if it i get half way. punshing any IAD with 236 special, it was pretty hard to even come close to him . Any inputs for using the experimental lasers ?

Every char. has some form of projectile or body launcher…i suggest u use this to close the gaps Zero, Megaman, or (ANY ZONING CHAR.) may create, reduce space between blasts…once your close enough the rest should be simply (adv. guarding, and picking at his weak spots)…if this fails find ways to apply your own pressure…that might force the player to alter their own gameplay

Against Zero you need to get pressure on him before he gets pressure on you. Zero sucks anyway!

I take it you don’t play much polymar…

This man is a pro

Like I said that man is a PRO.

Didn’t consider polymar when i posted this i don’t really use or care much for polymar…
but it would be absolutely stupid to send a rookie polymar up against someone who loves using their projectiles…that’s why you have 2chars. create a balanced team, learn to use them BBBOOOTTTHHH!!! also I’ve seen polymar’s reduces the space between them and their opponents quit quickly i would provide thier vids. but recording is not permitted at these events…

I would like to disagree on the point of sending a rookie Polymar against someone who enjoys projectiles being a bad idea. In a tournament or other serious situation, I would agree, but in a casual setting it only serves as a time to learn. After all, they have to get used to it some time. Only if they face it are they able to experiment with different ways of getting in. Trial and error can not only teach one what to do, but also what will get them killed for trying.

Aka you never been to a event enough said I never heard of a tourney other then probably SBO that doesn’t permit video recording that’s rubbish right off the back.

Yes. This right here.
