How to deactivate DS4 controllers for tournaments on PS4

With tournaments migrating to PlayStation 4, one of the problems players and tournament organizers face is the DualShock 4, or more precisely, properly disconnecting the controller from the console.

With the way the PS4 works, even if you log the controller out of the console, it’s still paired with it can pressing the Home button lets it log in - interrupting any game in progress.

To properly disconnect the controller, it needs to be “deleted” from the console, the steps of which I shall describe here.

Step 1: Go to Settings.

Step 2: Under Settings, go to Devices.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for all DS4s.

Good to know, d3v.

I think ideally, Sony would add an option to disable controllers from working wirelessly. Then we could just enable that option for tournaments and wouldn’t have to worry about interruptions. I’m not sure if that would be logistically feasible, though.
