How to combo into metsu shoryuken?

The damage doesnt seem worth it. Its seems like one of dudley’s ultra at the moment because if you do not get a true connect (or whatever it is called) then you miss out on so much damage. Though the setup Shadow IV mentioned sounds pretty good. Gotta be quick though.

For the moment im sticking with ultra one.

super, should work, but you really shouldn’t waste all that damage lost from scaling, just save ultra for next oppurtunity

The damage scaling makes it so undesirable to combo. I am prefer to just use it as is. The move is so quick and versatile that without the combo I have caught people off guard. Ended a match beautifully against an Adon thinking he won with his Jag kick. “Hell no!” said Ryu :slight_smile:

it doesn’t combo from a super…at least i havent’ been able to do it
almost full mk range to hado fadc ultra is doable
i can’t do the 1 hit j.mp into full ultra…only the non animation one

With all the nerfs, I doubt super->ultra will work for ryu. Would be nice but if all that connects I can see a tremendous amount of scaling…

no proper combos make this a hard choice over metsu hado

i was using it to good effect today at casuals…the almost full range cr.mk hado fadc u2 is somewhat easy to hit confirm (against corner)
really nice anti air option…

So,for what i’ve understand:

MetsuSRK = 503

jf+HK -> MetsuSRK = 503

jf+HP -> MetsuSRK = 503

FAlv3 -> MetsuSRK = 493

EXtatsu -> MetsuSRK = 364 (corner)

down+HP -> EXtatsu -> MetsuSRK = 428 (corner)

jf+HK -> d+HP -> EXtatsu -> MetsuSRK = 470 (corner)dumb jf+HK->MetsuSRK=503

f+HP -> down+HP -> EXtatsu -> MetsuSRK = 490 (corner)

It’s not the whole combo that im frustrated on, it’s just trying to make that c.MK connect, as it either doesn’t have the range to make it hit or dans auto block kicks into gear. i’ve practiced c.MK, Hadouken to Metsu SRK and im all good with that. How do I fine tune my precision to make it connect?

It’s just a hard link to connect that’s all. It’s much harder than ex fb > fadc > u1. Not worth the risk imo, specially online. U1 will pretty much be your main ultra as it is the combo ultra. U2 is for specific fights and certain jumpy encounters like dictator and vega. Even then, a dictator will know better when they see you are using U2.

It’s a high-damage ultra for a reason, not all that easy to land on a good player.

can we get some damage numbers for ultra1 with those combos (that are same)

On short combos U2 is more powerfull,but the highest damage that i’ve find is with U1,because the U2 damage suck if not full animation

f+HP -> HPsrk -> Super -> Ultra1(MetsuHado) = 555

f+HP -> down+HP -> EXtatsu -> Ultra1(MetsuHado) = 563 (corner)

Now i’m trying to do

f+HP -> d+HP -> HPhado -> FADC -> Ultra2(MetsuSRK,full animation) = ???

But it seem that i’m not good enough,i fail the HPhado -> FADC -> Ultra2 part

I jumped in with HK and comboed straight to metsu hadouken. And I’ve seen here that the same works for Metsu Shuryoken. Sounds like the easiest way to get a guaranteed ultra after a jump in. I’m not too good yet with FADC combo’s or long combo’s in general, so this one-two combo will have to do it for me as of now.

Nope. It’s just a way to combo it and get the full animation.

DarthPaul, I second that but I still have that one character (Blanka) that might be a better option for U2! I’d need assloads of rounds using both to see. I believe the situations are weird enough vs Blanka that it actually might be worth while.

Guys guys!!! The reason you have to do those crazy links before the fireball is because it spaces you out the max distance the fireball comes out so the fireball hits as late as possible yet still combos from the c.mk You could throw a slow fireball fadc it and follow it up with ultra 2 (the startup on u2 is 8 frames) but that shit is worthless. Forcing yourself to land a 1 frame link to land an ultra that doesn’t give you much more damage is not worth it. It has to be in the corner (otherwise the character gets pushed back too far) so why not just c.mk, ex fb, ultra 1? :confused: Its easier. I was about to say sexier but there’s no amount of sexy that can describe landing U2 combo style.

You could also turn counter hits on and watch how much easier landing fireball into ultra2 becomes.
