Don’t forget about wiff clap into 360/gigas/move of your choice on wake up
Or another variation of this is to do the Giant Palm Bomber up close(if they have no EX/SA meter and you have a full meter of SA I), and if they parry it, immediately do a Gigas Breaker and they can’t jump away or counter you because they are still in the parry frames. If the GPB is blocked, then of course follow it up with either another GPB(for pressure or to bait another chance for a parry) or a Meat Squasher.
i believe they can still jump to avoid the gigas in this situation.
Not if you 720 fast enough while they are in the blue frames of the parry. Its more or less the same idea as remy throwing an LOV, then dashing in as you parry it and throwing you right as you’re in the blue parry frames.
Because you’re basically stuck, so its important to be fast when attempting it.
Also, the last few frames of the clap can be canceled into other moves. So thats really the only reason why it is possible.
according to the system mechanics thread, when someone parries, both players are frozen in parry stun for 16 frames. Then the player who parried gains an advantage of 4, 3, 2 or 0 frames (light, medium, heavy attacks and specials respectively). meanwhile the player who was parried finishes the recovery of his move.
so assuming clap has 0 recovery (which if you cancel to gigas should be, just like when you cancel normals to specials/supers) then you and your opponent recover on the exact same frame.
I believe gigas has 1 frame startup, meaning that if your opponent buffers jump after parrying a clap he’ll jump out of it.
This is theory though, it would have to be tested for conclusive results.
But it’s probably moot, since most people buffer either block or attacks after a parry and not jump.
Good stuff. That frame data helps clear things up a bit and since the 720 has always connected for me it might just be that I haven’t fully tested to “truely” know. So let me know if it makes a difference buffering a jump(in all jump directions) after the parry if possible. :wonder:
In order to jump after a parry you have to cancel it with a super jump, for some reason after a parry the character doesn’t jump until like 1/2 a second after the parry is over (blue flash and parry stance), unless you super jump, but even doing that the Gigas is inescapable unless they do something that makes them unthrowable
I just tested it in training mode. (parry training, buffer clap -> gigas). You can definitely jump out of the gigas every time. All the parryer has to do is buffer the jump right after his parry. But you can get out everytime.
But still, they can’t jump out of it on reaction when they see the super’s startup flash, and that makes it a good option to throw into the mix (as long as it’s not over-used). And like you said earlier, it’s rarely the case that someone will buffer a jump after they parry.
it’s a good tactic. I’m just saying it’s not guaranteed like people think it is.
Yeah, I agree man. Not a lot of guaranteed throw setups for poor Hugo. Until recently, I thought that parrying a jump-in would always mean a guaranteed 360/720, but I was shown otherwise LoL.
Your Hugo is decent…i wouldnt go as far as to say one of the best though. And Oro cant jungle Hugo so great
And to someone who says sftu to me after this…backa t ya ^.-

BET IT?! BEDDED!
Bleh. Hugo sucks.
Ray, I was jw if there was a way you could record your hands doing the standing 720 or if you know of a video of that? It really helps me to be able to see what motions look like so I’ll know what I’m doing wrong/could be doing better.
I know that it’s just “spin the stick really fast” but like, I want to see How fast.
Thanks.
Wow, thanks for that. It’s too bad I can’t see your hands close up too well like with Harmonaz’s demon videos.
Does give me a perspective on how fast it has to be though.
Yo,
Lets bring it back.
