How the f*ck do you handle a fighting stick

Playing SF3rd strike, I have always had the problem with a game pad (ps2) doing a half circle super move (Ruy, Q) or linking normals to super with high success rate enough.
So I bought a Hori fighting stick 3 PS3 and using it on PC - MAME working excellent, but it ain’t fucking easier? Sure if i do a super move mega slow then it has a high probability of coming out but then its 2 fucking late. I’m simply looking for some direct pointers, thank you.

you’re probably holding it wrong
try a grip with your bottom fingers on the inner side of your hand, the stick between, and your main fingers on top on the outer side. your thumb should be lightly gripping it. loosen up as you’re doing motions, especially double QCFs

the other thing is just practice

I should practice holding a stick right, cause the way I hold it sure as hell ain’t. lol

Switching to any new playstyle will probably make you worse for a short time but will pay off big once you get used to your tools. It should take you time to get used to it since you don’t ever else use those muscles in your hands, if you’ve just been playing pad for years. Plus time brings muscle memory.

Also YouTube vids of fighting-game players’ hands. Really. I know for sure there are a couple OMG DAIGO HANDS videos.

I think I get, I guess I will give it alot of time…I felt frustrated being a bernoob all of a sudden.

Nice post very informative.

It could just be your converter, you know.

I hold the actual stick with my palm face up, and the ball between my middle and ring finger, with my fingers closed over the top.

Yes I am very well aware of converter problems since I had a ps2 controller to pc converter, doing a simple super was almost impossible, but this one is a direct connected via usb so its pretty good.

I guess all i can say is play charge characters and dont rely on super to win.

It works for David Sirlin.

I must thank for your replies, I tried holding like spudlyff8fan and switching the thumb depending of which side the character is, and the result was better than game pad, I am grateful thanks.

With confidence and flair.
