Because a college student at college…is a college student, but a college student at home is typically seen as a manchild in most other peoples minds.
Even if they have a full time job and go to school it seems like some people don’t get away from the stigma no matter what the circumstances are, even if say the parents needed help with money and whatnot.
Maybe people just assume you’re a manchild until you’re in your late twenties or early thirties nowadays.

You got a full time job, go to school, and help your parents? Ignore the haters. Most of them still think they’re in elementary school and can’t learn to grow up. Eventually life will teach them to grow up or they will just end up with the consequences. Example: Some “bro” was walking around calling everyone a loser and telling everyone to get laid around here and eventually he went up to some random dude and got shot and killed on the spot. Darwin at work.
You are not a full man unless you are a completely self-dependent adult with a income to support yourself (and your family/loved ones). Some people struggle to pull this off, and I can respect them as long as they are desperately trying in life doing whatever to make ends meet. But to me, man-child are ones that don’t seem to attempt to change the situation they are in.
Being unemployed or not having a full time job, yet spend hours playing video games daily instead of trying to find new jobs, study or attempt any sort of self-improvement. Man-child. Not moving out of parents’ house despite having enough source of income to sustain himself. Also a man-child.
A lot of people claim to be self-dependent, yet are still living with their parents. That is definitely NOT self-dependent - unless you are the one in charge of the household and paying all the bills.
You know, if I broke up with my girlfriend, I would love to be room mates with my mother. She is fucking chill, doesn’t ask any questions, minds her business and can cook. We can split cooking and cleaning which would be better than living with random ass niqqas. People acting like living with your parents is the worst shit ever; if you’re parents can’t treat you like an adult then it would be a bad situation.
Nah its cool. My mom is an attractive lady. When I first move to the U.S., the cable guy was hitting on her. The whole time I’m there its like “You non-white niqqa, you really think my mom is gonna fall for that shit, even more so when you’re doing it in front of me?” Not enough RockB “C’mon Son” gifs for that shit.
Does the term “manchild” refer to how much of a bum you are, or having the humor of a thirteen year old?
I think that this might solve any sort of dilemma we are having here.
