How Much Would You Pay For A High Quality DVD On SF(or other games)

about how much would you pay for a high quality dvd based off of video game matches, tournament footage, practice sessions, money matches, interviews, and other behind the scenes stuff?

also, what would you like to see in a dvd for video games? what i mean by that is; would you like crowd noise or reaction? music/a soundtrack? anything you can think of?

just curious.

Isn’t that what the Evo DVD is? O_o

I think it’s more a matter of exposure than price-point. Though that’s important too.

Most people who play SF don’t have credit cards or paypal accounts handy. That completely cripples possible sales, as even if you just make the DVD 10 or 20 bucks, people can’t get it to you. And even then no one wants to wait 2-6 weeks to get their disk, they want it NOW. You also have to tack on 5-10 dollars for shipping costs, which can raise the price by about 25-50% of what it should be.

So in person (say, at a booth) you could likely get away with 10-20 bucks. Online you can charge whatever you want, because people who have the means can afford to drop 30 on a DVD.

not one penny

At most, $30. DVD movies from hollywood studios that have high special effects and shit cost ~$20, so $30 is a bit generous on my side to pay for something like this.

As far as high quality, I would rather have a shitload of matches at medium quality, then a few matches at high quality. I care more about the strategy and sick ass combos than I do about high definition matches that suck ass.

Not sure, depends on how much footage there is.

I agree with you, $30 would be the max I’d probably pay. Like you said, when you buy a movie on DVD, it’s usually around $20, so paying $30 is being plenty generous, and I would be willing to go that high because it would be beneficial to the community. Any higher, though, would be getting kind of ridiculous.

Which pretty much sums up why the Street Fighter community sucks.

Don’t mind Peter Derek, if i say “Pay for that shit” he will. :badboy:

Bang the Machine 2?

I’d pay a Klondike Bar…

Then I’ll sell that DVD for money to get more Klondike Bars…I’m a fucking genius.

I think only some DVD’s are worth buyin like EVO (not all the time). I think TS5 is gonna be worth it, but they say $80 dollar vaule like were buyin a movie that was suppose to come in like 3 more yrs or something. “Like $80 is a good price nigga this movie don’t come out till 2010”. I think $30 should be enough but then they have to mass produce so they gotta get all that money back + some.

P.s. Iroku what happend at TS5 I never saw or meant you. At least I don’t think so.

the only reason you’d compare an SF DVD to a hollywood movie is if you’re watching them for the same reasons: ie. entertainment. if you’re watching to learn, I don’t see how the cost of a movie DVD has any relevance whatsoever.

more matches is not necessarily better. most tournament DVDs seem to feature only a few matches from the opening brackets (if any), since the prevailing notion seems to be that only the top players (ie. the finals) are worth watching anyway. I agree that quality beyond a certain point (ie. being able to tell characters and moves from one another) is meaningless.

there’s also a matter of your own situation. I don’t have many chances to play good comp, so I’ll shell out what I have to in order to see how the best play. someone who regularly plays the top players in the country wouldn’t care as much about a DVD, obviously.
