How much money do the 1st place finishers get EVO 2011?

I want to know how much money people won for placing in games at EVO.

How much money for SSF4:AE?
How much money for MvC3?

Seriously, why is this information so fucking hard to find? It’s like mother fuckers wanna keep this shit a secret. I don’t understand. Shit should be plastered all over the place.

Any information would be helpful considering evo and srk don’t post that shit anywhere.

AE: 20,000
MVC3: 10,000

Any prize for 2nd or 3rd place?

AE: 1000 for second
MVC3: 5000 for second

no prizes for 3rd.

jesus lol. Thank you. Where did you find that information at?

I was thinking…if it costs $80 to enter Evo and $15 a game and if 3,000 people came thats $285,000. (assuming I remembered my math and the figures correctly)

Why isn’t the pot higher? Where does all the money go? I know some of it goes to the Evo staff and people running the event and whatever but still, $285,000 is still alot.

My reason for asking is becasue the simplest way to get something to be taken seriously is to add money. If 1st place was $50,000 it would be that much better and more people would come out.

Anyway, Charlie, if can give me your source and if anyone can point my in the direction of some other answers I’d be much obliged.

Er I heard it was a pot split 70/30/10. That seems more realistic imo.

Venue and all that stuff cost also money

Yeah. I can imagine renting a HUGE ballroom in the Rio costing a damn ton of money.

Though, I would like to see an increase in the buy-in cost for some of these games, and then have Keits’s poker-payout system implimented.

How the fuck is that possible? 70+30+10 = 110.

@ slayer and stumble – I know but even if we take away the money for 1st and 2nd palce finishes in Marvel and AE that still leaves 240,000. Lets assume that the Mortal Kombat, BlazBlue, and Tekken players also got plaid. So let’s say what is left is 220,0000.\

$220,000 is alot of money. No doubt that renting the venue, paying staff, and buying extra equipment all cost money too…still though…$220,000? How much is SRK, i.e. Mr. Wizard, Tony Cannon, ect… getting out of that?

I just think, that they players shuold be paid more. The more money is involved the better it is for the scene and the players. It is the simpliest way to get attention for the games and the FG community. History attests to this as well…Aronld Schwarzenegger was outspoken about Body Building comps needing to increase payouts for the sport to be taken seriously, also look at the evolution of professional Poker over the last 15 or so years… MONEY.

Players need mone in THIER hands. that is what is gonna take the FG community to the next level. Huge payouts. Can you imagine a $100,000 pot in Street Fighter? It brings attention to the scene and people (not just in the FG community) will start to pay way more attention.

Well, thats my rant, but if anyone actually knows anything else about what costs what and where the money from Evo goes, let me know!

Well, they WERE in the pavillion, the biggest damn ballroom that the hotel has. I have no idea how much it would be to rent it for 2-3 weeks like they probably did for setup and teardown.

laughing my goddamn ass off! Math fail for the lose!

But I do agree with you about EVO needing more money. I was shocked to discover the pay out could be less than 20k, which is shit after taxes, or fuck, even 10k. This is the first time I’ve paid attention to EVO, every year I’ve just read results and assumed the grand prize was a huge ass fifty grand or something. Capcom and Namco should throw EVO some bones and make that paycheck hotter.

ok i think we are all forgetting something
probably to get to 20k and 10k of prize you need to detract from thos 200k the hall fee (i think 15 or 20k) then detract the fee for the hotels for the staff and transport to the locations. add the security (if there is any) add the money to pay guests (i think they pay capcom and so on) the tv the consoles (with dlc) and the streams hardware add the invite that have been given in past tournaments (most of wich in the us) where you have to pay the fee to the tournaments the plane and the hotel. if you think about it you can easily see how these money will fade away in the blink of an eye. oh and add taxes.

smaller tounaments might have bigger percentage of income than bigger torunaments.

That is still a terrible prize considering the number of entrants/trips involved/taxes/everything else involved. If you’re only paying the top 3 people out of what, say 800 for AE (figuring you had 100 qualifying pools of 8), and if the top person is only making 20K for it, and figure hotel/trip/airfare/taxes are not included, how much is the top person taking home in reality, 5000 at most? And what about the people that did well and didn’t make it that far? Top 32 say out of 800 is not bad, and what do you go home with, nothing?

It’s still hard for someone who doesn’t have a real chance of getting 1st place to go to Evo unless they’re doing it as a part of a weekend trip or going to play heavy casuals. I know I don’t have the money to afford that hotel by myself, not including airfare or anything of the like. There are cheaper and better ways to spend my limited money, even in video game playing.

Just my 2C.

I always thought top 8 were paid a portion of the pot for that specific game.

who cares? This game sucks.

So as you can see with a little bit of research and a bit of math, you can figure this shit out on your own… gawdamnit someone close this thread!

So the prize money only comes from the pot money? I thought that was just added to other prize money gathered from sponsors? I see that Namco threw in some for Tekken - but there’s no other money being added to the payouts?

not that they announced.

It’s hard to say how much it costs to rent that room for 3 days but I’d imagine the amount of people they bring that are going to get rooms gives them a major discount not to mention all the sponsors. I thought the venue fee should be lower and the entry fee higher and pay out to the top 5. I’d imagine the TO’s only have to work 3 days a year at what they could cash in. Smart business on their part. They worked hard to get the tourney where it is today.

James- How do you figure the winner takes home 5k from 20k based on 4-5 days of expenses. Plane ticket 400 round. Hotel 100 a night. Where do you pay 70% in taxes?

Thanks for the source. That shit is SOOOOOO hard to find.

In anycase, I think Evo should be more open about where the money goes, and that is pretty skezzy to only have the game registration fee go into the pot. A portion of the Evo fee should go into the pot as well. Also, whoever mentioned that the companies, capcom/namco/ect, should pitch in some money is right…they should. (I know namco threw at extra what 5k at the tekken players) but still…if AE payout for 1st place is $10,000 that shit is hella weak.

It was weak when I thought it was 20,000 but 10 is embarassing.

Evo, SRK, come clean with the expendatures that go into the event! I have a feeling that I am not the only one who is interested in where all the money is going since it is obviously not going to the hands of players who’s blood, sweat and talent got them through the tournament.

It is just common sense, if you want to be taken seriously the simpilest way is to INCREASE PAYOUT for the the PLAYERS.

Shit, just check this out… http://blog.dota2.com/ FUCKING $1,000,0000 prize for this game by Valve.
