Yeah, you’re not fucking kidding 'eh? Lol.
I wish Playmore would just let the series rest with what dignity it has left, but I’m sure they’re gonna continue to shit all over it.
I heard they’re considering making a Last Blade 3 too.
They destroyed the soul that made KOF stand out so much, so what makes them think they can retain the artistry that made the Last Blade series so great?
Yes, the gameplay is important, but Last Blade had everything down pat. The graphics, the animation, the music, the art style, the little touches like Hibiki freaking out when she killed someone, and then gradually growing to like it. Look at the forest stage background, and tell me that isn’t fucking beautiful.
All these kinds of subtle things are things that Playmore doesn’t know how to do.
I don’t see why you consider 2k3 soulless. The game had soul. It had a lot of problems, gameplay-wise, it was mediocre, but the game wasn’t as soulless as 2k1/2k2…
I’ll admit that’s a subjective statement. The old SNK was better at the small touches. There’s a reason 98 is my fav KOF game, and it’s not because of the USA Sports Heroes (I’ve been on a serious Team USA kick lately)
\Here’s a question, where does 27,000 copies for PS2 rate towards the median of game titles? What’s the number where about half the games sell more, and half sell less.
Well, yeah, they’re getting better again, but it’s still just not the same.
Any company who can make Malin, and keep her in a game over Mai is just off.
Since SNK USA only ports games over from japan, doesnt that mean most of the sales are profit? I would assume that in japan the games sell better and snk japan needs to make profit then, since they actually develope the games.
well yeah the graphics, I agree with that,2k2/2k3 look and sound uglier than any kof before 2000.
but it’s not the graphics,is the lack of love for snk here in the U.S,capcom is just too big that people can’t look at anything else.
Just look at EVO making a Super Street Fighter II Turbo every year, and not even one for KOF 98 or 2k2 but yeah nobody knows how to play this game anyway, fucking:lame:
edit:
KOF2k2/2k3 on PS2: 26,500:lame:
SFAC PS2: 237,000:lame:
reload came out at 20 new, whereas KOF was double that right?
Also seriously, pretend you’re random gamer who has never downloaded a video, attended a tourney, or seen what people do to break games and pick up reload and try to figure it all out. It would scare people sh^tless I think; whereas, you can pick up SCIII and start mashing a figure crap out and bam, you’re happy.
Now of course I don’t agree with this, but random gamers just don’t want to deal with the precision and practice time it takes to play 2D fighters + the fact that there is no competition out there for most people means that they would rather have a casual DOA style fighter to play with whoever. And the Live scene for those of us who have experienced the real thing just doesn’t cut it half the time, even SFAC is laggy enough to make the precision of ST an issue.
I am seriously depressed looking at those numbers. Ouch.
Can anyone tell me how much Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur 3 have sold as of right now? I’m seeing Tekken 5 for 10 dollars on play-asia both Japanese and American versions!
I can’t believe I got negative rep’d for my comment above. Truth hurts.
Graphics are just that - graphics. It doesn’t matter the resolution. Character designs is what makes the graphics. After all, a graphic is just art. Higher resolution presents them in a better light, but if the character designs suck then it really doesn’t matter.
Still, deep down graphics really don’t matter. I mean, Guilty Gear has some of the most boring and unoriginal designs I’ve ever seen, but it’s a blast to play and that’s all that matters.
Why the hell does it even matter if AF:AC has Xbox 360 support? Everyone who has the game already has an Xbox, and it’s not like they can make it better by adding a hi-res mode. We haven’t even seen any evidence that existing joysticks will work with the 360, so all the serious players will just stick with the Xbox anyway.
TO SNK Guitarist
I downloaded ESAKA and Wicked Child songs from your page
you are pretty good but, I don’t know if it is the recording or something that the songs are not that High quality. Anyway what about a STILL GREEN remix?
The sad part is that fighters in general don’t appeal to most “gamers” these days. Especially 2D fighters, even VF and Tekken don’t have the pull they used to.
These days it’s all about FPS which quite frankly I am sick of seeing. When a fighter does get the attention of the masses it’s usually because of graphics, and instead of caring about fine tuned gameplay mechanics, all they care about is which one has the cutest outfit or which one they can make a retarded anime fanfic out of, and let’s not forget discussing how hot/cute they are instead of discussing gameplay mechanics, because after all looking like some hi-res/poly anime character is what counts.
KOF has seen better days, it’s still a solid series and if SNK Playmore would spend the time to redo the sprites and give it an entire graphic overhaul, it might sell alot better and get more attention from the masses. Although, seeing as how fighters are mostly overlooked it probably wouldn’t be a good idea for them to spend financial resources on a game that wouldn’t sell much either way since it doesn’t have a first person view and a gun.
I’m not that good at producing stuff to a CD style quality. I usually just throw my POD through the computer and multitrack, so it’s pretty rough. What’s a STILL GREEN remix? Thanks for the compliment though :karate:
EDIT - Oh wait, are you talking about Shingo’s theme? It just dawned on me like 2 minutes ago.
