How many copies did SFAC sell?

No you dont I have already talked to people about this. If you have a current XBL it will run over to the 360.

The silver package is what comes with the 360 but it doesnt allow you to play actual XBL games online.

Ah okay thanks.

can i get an good answer to my post and do u have system sold numbers?

It’s most likely because random casual gamers saw reviews which said that VF4 was good. They bought it, messed around with it for a couple of days, then they realized they couldn’t play it well and probably gave up. You have to remember that how many copies have been sold and how many copies are actually being used are two very different things.

On the other hand, you would see a game like Guilty Gear getting good reviews, but since it’s 2D, most of the same casual gamers wouldn’t bother looking into it.

the only game that i remember not working for ps2 is mk trilogy. it would freeze mid game and do random glitches. i remember there were like 2 other games that did that.

i have to agree with sabre on emulation issue it’s really bs what microsoft is doing with xbox1 compatibility. they’re taking the easy route.

and really i dont understand u guys telling sabre get the facts right. do you see microsoft even release a list of xbox1 games that are going to work on xbox2? all they said is yes we’re releasing patches for certain games. for all we know it it’s gonna be halo, dead or alive and that’s it. no matter what, we lose.

thank you.

oh well, atleast now i know i’ll always be cool because something i love will never be “mainstream”

let us celebrate how hip and edgy we are! :xeye:

what exactly is considered a good ‘number’? over 100,000?

Omni, what’s your source for this? I’ve seen those numbers before- just curious where you got it?

This makes me really surprised that SC3 didn’t get an arcade release now.

Think about it like this: lets say an average game costs 3 million. 3 million x $50 - takes 150,000 sold to break even. And 3 million is a really cheap game to make these days.

Lets take a look at some random games:

Ace Combat 4: 1.6 million (WTF??)
Ace Combat 5: 430,000

Red Dead Revolver: 518,000

DMC1 - 1 million

The getaway - 1 million

Star Ocean: 500,000

As you can see, MANY games sell over 100,000 and most games need to sell a lot more then just that to break even.

There is a montly report generated that is handed to most publisher called the TRSTS. I’m just looking at the most recent (covers september) to supply the numbers.

SC2 being a flop in Japanese arcades probably had something to do with it.

so OMNI, what about KOF games?

SFAC is pretty much a port. The dev team was [in this day and age] small. I think Capcom would have made a profit off the game even though it did not sell as much as say 3D fighters.

BTW, do you have numbers of how many copies SF3:3rd Strike Sold on the dreamcast?

And MVC2

And just to spice it up, compare these fighting games to

GTA, 3, VC, SA
Halo 1, 2
Sonic Adventure 1, 2 , DX, Heroes
Gran Turismo 3 and 4

Thank you.

Hrm… so did Capcom make money of SFAC? It doesn’t seem like a really expensive game.

Also, do these include japanese figures?

And for a spectrum view… what sells the most, and what’s the worst? (please don’t say SF lol).

This is really informative, thanks Omni. Although, I think we’re prolly getting out of hand with the requests… lol.

Omni needs his own sticky thread.

Psycho Crusher’s Derek’s Balrog

Thanks for the heads up on the XBL situation. Much appreciated:tup:

It sucks to know that SF is such a flop. Itd be interesting to know how many copies SF2 sold on the SNES and MD. Has to be a good number surely? Even tho home consoles werent as widespread as they are now.

Most game sales come from casual gamers, in which most of them don’t play 3s. VF4 did get good reviews for the time, and it had some kind of advertising, so yeah.

You all know why SC2 sold that much on GC, right? I thought so.

One more thing. Xbox fighters pretty much WILL ALWAYS SELL LESS COPIES than the PS2 versions, even if they do have Live play. Why? Becaucse most Xbox players that I know play Halo and sports games, nothing else.

Omni needs a seperate thread about game sales.

This is as correct as saying that most PS2 players are only interested in RPGs and katamari games. The real answer is that PS2 got established early, and is basically still living off the market they created with the PS1 and all it’s third party support. Xbox lost that round, but this only applies for another month anyway until 360 comes out… round 2 fight!

And I thank god everyday for it, Heres to GGXX Slash, SamShoV, KOF NeoWave, '94 ReBout and XI

LATER EDIT:
O.K. I know NeoWave, '94ReBout and SamShoV will be on XBox BUT are GGXX Slash and KOF XI gonna be on X Box or 360?

I’ve heard all over the place that Slash will be on 360 but it makes a LOT of sense to put them on the old Box

YET ANOTHER LATER EDIT:
Please post up the SNK Fighting Game Numbers please :bgrin:

Please stick Metal Gear Solid : Snake eater in there also if its not any trouble, Omni. I’d love to see how the fighting games stack up to some recent blockbusters. Thanks in advance.
