How is that instructional video?

:rock:

I thought the strats were solid, but the match vids left something to be desired. The level of play didn’t seem as high as stuff you’ll see from Japanese players. Hey, what the hell do I know, I just started playing the game haha. I’ll definitely buy the stand alone DVD though.

dvd = god tier

For people like myself who played only SF the video REALLY helped me quickly adjust to the game; some of the combos are abit daunting though. They go from telling you basics straight to doing 11+ hit combos. (In the case of Ragna)

The instructional DVD is great. They should have included the info (at least the combos) in-game, though. Those bashing SF4’s challenge trials are nuts - it is better to have them in game than in a separate media (having to unlock the trials in SF4 was kind of annoying though). Those that have their computer nearby and/or have a dual monitor setup (like i do) would be best served playing the training mode on one screen and having the DVD in the other.

The combos listed per character are great - BB’s system is so complex and non-intuitive that you need a video like this to basically tell you how to perform links and air combos. I like BB, but the memorization of complex combos is a turn-off, and I like putting in time for fighters (I can see how the casual fans will get turned off). The beauty of SF4 shines more to me now than ever -> it attracts the casual fans and you can instantly recognize skilled players. You can go far in BB mashing buttons and performing QC motions.

That being said, BB definitely holds its own and is a fun fighter. The tutorials and combos in the DVD should be in-game material.

I’m guessing they weren’t ingame because there wasn’t enough space on the disc or something like that. For the PS3 though I suppose they would’ve been able to fit it all on one disc. And I think the bashing of the SF4 combos is mostly because many of them are kinda uselses.

Nice that the combo videos are up on youtube. Does anybody know if you can find the rest of the material somewhere? Hasn’t been released in Europe yet and I wanna check out the videos before I get the game :smiley:

The bonus dvd helps a lot. A must before and after the game.

i liked the dvd it helped me with the mechanics of the game. i hope other companies do the same with there games.

I dug the video. Had a lot of good high level information… though it was just sort of mixed in at the end of things about how you press A to punch so I had to watch all that…

GREAT for beginners though.

imo, its not THAT helpful, it gives you like combo lists but you really have to go training and do all of it yourself. hard to get off online as well. but of course you should go through it but gotta practice a lot in training and online

Alot of the strategy sections suck althogh a few characters have really good ones like Arakune/tager/litch/maybe some others.

The Hakumen strat section SUCKS

they have made more than enough errors…
