How is sf hd remix on 360?

Throws stones

Cool, thnx?

Are you Gay Zorro?

I don’t know if it is just me, but about 1/4 of the time my opponent drops at the VS screen. I know the problem is not on my end, because if it happens in a tournament I advance, even though in ranked matches I always get the loss. Other than that, the netcode is really nice, except for the 0 rating glitch…

just converted from ps3 to 360 sfhd… best thing ive done. wayyyy less lag and dropped games… alot of better players on 360 also

damn, now you’ve got me tempted to do the same. but i don’t have a stick for the 360. all i have is an hrap3. so i’d have to figure out a way to mod it or buy a stick…

Heh, same.

No stick for 360 and playing on a pad feels just like gouging my eyes out everytime I try to play in comparison to a stick.

Warning, there will be whining and bitching in this post. :blah::grrr::crybaby:

Well, after having this game for a month or so, I have been able to form an “opinion” about it. The online portion of this game seems lacking. The matchmaking system is terrible, if there aren’t members of your friends list online, good luck playing a game that is worth your time. Yesterday, it took me 30 minutes to play one, laggy, teleport fest of a match on ranked. That was all the time I had, so needless to say I was pissed. Sometimes my connection is good and the match plays smooth, but to get to that point feels like torture.

The lobby system is no good unless it is you and maybe 3 or 4 players who are of equal skill level as you playing (usually, that is people on your friends list). Mostly though, it is you beating up on 3 or 4 people, who drop after about 3 losses a piece, and leave you stuck looking for another match. Or if you are lucky, there is someone in the room who can beat you, but you have to wait 5 - 10 minutes while they crush some noobs so you two can play again. Let’s say I lost again, then that would be a total of almost 15 mintues to play 2 matches? I don’t have that kind of time.

Maybe I am spoiled on GGPO, where I could play people as soon as I logged on usually, play who I want, spec who I want, and play people in Japan, Germany, etc. with no problems. I also like the one on one aspect of the system on GGPO, and that is how I set up my matches on Live, 2 person lobby so that I can actually get some games in instead of watching.

This game just takes way too much time to play, and time is one thing I do not have enough of.

Now, throw HDRemix on GGPO, and I’ll be all set :woot:

Do you do Quick match or Custom matches? Because in Custom Matches you can see people’s pings. (Lower the better). But sometimes, when I’m trying to join a low ping game, it’s always full for some reason. So sometimes it takes 1-5 minutes to find a game…

(Lol at random defamer , what a loser hehe)

Custom matches, and sure, you can see their ping, and sure you can get in a lobby…with 4 or 5 people in it already. Waiting to play a match is lame. Beating everyone in the lobby, then they all leave, is lame. Playing in a 6 person lobby with only 2 decent players is lame. Those factors add up to a usually unenjoyable experience for me. Don’t get me wrong, when it is me and someone of equal skill level or better playing in a lobby with just us with a smooth connection, then that experience is great. That is rare, however.

Homer brings up one thing that I wish Xbox Live could adopt. I wish there was a way to search for any player at any given time rather than being forced to adopt them on your very limited friends list. I’m stingy about purchasing anything more for video games than I really have to but I would literally pay for more spaces on my friends list. I have more people asking to be my friend than I have spaces by about another 100 people.

I personally have been playing ranked games more often simply because you don’t run into the bugs you do when you play custom matches. I don’t care for being ranked at all and if this game ever gets patched I won’t be playing ranked games anymore other than to play against people who tend to play ranked games more often. As long as custom match is 2/3 rounds I don’t mind the “wait” and the wait makes it fun like it was back in the arcades to stomp on kids all day. Since I have enough decent people from SRK on my friends list I tend to get good rooms going later on at night with players from SRK or other decent players. Nothing like playing a room filled with SRK peepz.

It’s tough to get going though right now since someone will always eventually disconnect from the room and you’ll have scrub # 32832 take their place. If the game gets patched it should be a lot easier for me to get SRK arcade sessions.

Well said my good man Pimpson. I must say I do agree.

Time is of the essence now that some of our lives involve work and family and such. Waiting 15 mintues to play a game against scrubs who drop is terrible, or even worse, waiting 15 minutes just to get a connection drop on the character select screen! Arrggg!!! :annoy:

Anyway, the point of my piggy back rant is to quote Pimpson for great Truth and to reiterate the fact that the amount of time it takes to get a game in really degrades the overall experience.

P.S. Besides the networking issues, I love this game. LOVE THIS GAME! But damn I cant be waiting so long just to get disconnected.

You put it well my friend, that is exactly how I feel. I work full time, go to school full time (well, almost, I am shy one class), and I have a little side business I do from home. When I am not sharing the little free time I have with my lady, I like to mash on some buttons in SF. I bought a 360 for this game alone, and sure I’ll buy SF4, but damn this seems like it is turning into an expensive mistake. At least GGPO is free :lovin:

I disagree completely! Xband was awesome, no lag problems, no crazy glitches, shit just worked! I WISH this game were like that.

Love the defames because you guys are protecting your holy grail. Just because you joined earlier doesen’t mean your some badass veteran.

The online sucks in TBHDR… Period.

Why did you put quotes around “no life you are”?

Umm, no it doesnt.

Certain aspects can be improved upon, but saying the whole thing sucks is pretty inaccurate.

I was looking to a place to post my feelings in this game when I saw that post from you Homer.
It’s exactly how I found SFHD. I’m used to 2DF and I expected quick matches but instead I have to see two peps playing first, then I’ll have the honor to match the winner (if there’s no line before me)
Really I lost 1200 points in this. I would have bought Ninja Gaiden Black, or Chaos Thoery, even Mega Man 9 than this.
And after that, talking about system I prefer 1000% classic ST playing it in 2DF. In STHD one guy with T.Hawk beat me just jumping with MP over and over again. In ST that won’t happen.

Anyway I hope SF4 improves that online match GUI

Here’s my impressions of ST:HDR. Homer, you made some good points, and I think the biggest thing to remember is HDR on the 360 or the PS3 is, more or less, a purely casual experience. Unfortunately there’s still no good “ranking” system so it’s nearly impossible to play games against people who are at or near your skill level indefinitely. When it comes to ranked matches, problems like droppers and poor matchmaking services hinder what could otherwise be a good and quick way to play. A patch could possibly fix this, but counting on one between now and SFIV is wishful thinking.

On to the player matches, this is where the fun is truly had, but it’s sometimes difficult to find. Your best bet for an enjoyable (and again, casual) fighting experience is to find a room with only 3-4 slots, with voice chat enabled, and with players in the room who are actually talking. I’ve had more fun in one 4-player room chatting with other ST players and watching their fights during my “Spectator” time then the 100 or so Ranked matches I played combined. I’ve also made quite a few friends this way, and many times will just join a game they have going when I sign on.

In terms of lag, the online component works very well. Lag is extremely infrequent, and there have only been a handful of times when I’ve had weird lag-related glitches (the enemy not doing anything as I beat upon them, and the same thing happening for the other player, but reversed) and random room crashes / drops. More prevalent in my case have been the health bar / match win tally glitches, music / sound glitches, and some weird glitch (usually accompanying the health bar glitch) where my X button continuously makes the Insert Coin sound even during combat. Nothing a quick game restart doesn’t fix, but still a pain. Overall though, the latency and general game construction is solid.

If you want fun, real, competitive, challenging matches your best bet is to get some friends on Live that you know or that you’ve played before who are competent, and make a 2-person private room just to play against them. You could make a 3-person room if you don’t mind swapping out for winner only for one “turn”. But unfortunately Live isn’t very well-catered to matching like-skilled players, especially in Player matches. Ranked matches may attempt, but until they’re fixed it’s a long shot from being something a full-time job, full-time school, full-time ladies’ man could hope to achieve in 15 minutes of free video game time. Sorry, Homer.
