How has the internet spoiled you?

How HASN’T the internet spoiled me? Pretty much info on anything I want, all there for the asking. they even have search engines now that will do the “hard” work of looking for the websites where I can see the knowledge I want. With the addition of external hard drives, my collections are beyond belief. God bless the internet indeed.

Oh man, so many:

#1 Never having to use the periodic table again
#2 Not having to attend formal classes (eLearning)
#3 Not having to use the phone or drive downtown to buy stocks.
#4 Not have to pay for Movies/Shows
#5 Not having to pay for (some) Games

I think the biggest change for me is that any celebrity female can instantly find nude scene/sex tapes/near nude photos of. It’s ridiculous. I see some up and coming star and just think about what she looks like nude, 2 seconds later a sex scene from 3 years ago she probably wished wasn’t out there. All with a few clicks of a button! I remember when you had to hide your porn on a VHS and remember exactly which scene to watch and how far to fast forward. Kids these days have no idea how easy they have it! Waves old man cane.

It was easier to work before the internet and computers existed. Less “wiki retards” and people that actually wanted to learn actually had to read these things called books.

Then beepers came out it was horrible. Now it’s even worse. It is normal to have e-mail on your phone. Humans are becoming slaves to technology.

I was huge asian movie fan, so i did most of my trading thru vhs trades. I was able to get movies that wasn’t at the foreign section of all the video stores. Then high speed came along now you can just download them.

Online shopping is pretty amazing, i dont have to leave my house to buy the stuff i want. Especially huge stuff like a 60" tv or arcade cabs. Buying secretly like fleshlight, asscream, or some other shit you dont want people knowing.

Health advice, i usually ask SRK GD on what’s wrong with me instead of going to my doctor. Save me money & awkard moments asking why my pee & shit is orange.

Born in 94. Since I’ve never lived a life where reliable internet wasnt a thing, I cant really think of a way it spoils me. Everything about it is normal to me since i grew up with it. Though i will say Google has always made sure i never need to go to a library.

Besides porn…

TV themeshow music, and the acquisition of it. Since as far back as I can remember, the theme music of a show always caught my attention right away (Taxi was the first one I remember that stood out…that and Hillstreet Blues, and The Fall Guy)…standing out as something I must have so that I could always listen to it… so back in the day, I’d record them the old fashioned way that a kid would, by putting a cassette tape recorder close to the tv speaker to get the themes recorded…later on of course the recordings would get better as I began recording it via an audio line-in connection, to get direct audio… the internet would soon become a frequently used thing for most people around the '90s, and besides porn stuff this was the “other” thing I’d search for in those early days on the net… my first good finds were the major stuff, obviously— Transformers, GI Joe, MASK, Thundercats, etc… it wasn’t enough to have just 1 theme either. I’d go on to get the other ones if the show in question had different themes per season, like Transformers. This even included the lame ones for awhile, like the relatively inferior Season 4 theme of Transformers. (Season 2 theme was the best, imo) Of course this was partly for nostalgic reasons, but there was an element of genuine musical appreciation for the themes as well…like your average Bill Conti theme…you cannot deny how awesome Bill’s popular works are (*e.g.–“Night Court”)

Then, Napster hit, followed by Limewire and hell yeah I made out like a bandit in those times… basically, my collection is so good right now that there’s extremely rare occasions that I’m adding something that’s not from a new or recent show, because I already have collected everything at this point…or at least everything I deemed worthy of my collection, of course.

Porn-wise–> of course it’s the upskirts/panty-shots/stockings/booty shots for me.(*also; vids of girls getting spanked…and massages) That and anything else that’s a “thing” for people can be found in abundance on the net. That’s such an awesome thing about the internet…whatever you’re into, feet, upskirts, legs, women farting or puking, people dressed up as sexy cartoon characters s&m/bondage stuff…whatever it is, no matter how freaky the shit is… the internet generally has you covered…and there’s always a LOT of new material to find out there literally every day. Gone are the days my generation knew of just relying on late-night Cinemax, or scrambled porn channels and random naked magazines found on the street…now with the internet, whatever “thing” you’re into can be found in about 1 or 2 seconds on a search.

*There is also anime too— before the internet, a kid’s only real source was Blockbuster’s tiny “Japanimation” section. Otherwise, if it wasn’t already dubbed and being shown on American television, you wouldn’t get to see it. Internet changed all that around too.

People not knowing what privacy means, giving out so much info and pics on Facebook, Twitter, giving out banking info, etc.

People not caring that the NSA can spy on everything we’re doing, because peeps forgot what privacy is in the first place.

Dat fucking porn, I’m so addicted I don’t even care about real sex anymore.

Who needs a strat guide when the internet is the place to get that all.

I feel the need check youtube for useless info too

was having a soda shaq and…what do other people think!

I am notorious for not responding to e-mails, phone calls or texts. I actually have my notifications off on my phone so I check it when I can get to it, and e-mail is by far the most likely way to get a response from me. Ironically most people hate e-mails, probably because they don’t like having to actually write everything out and taking care of things at once. I also frequently ignore my phone at home, if I’m in front of my computer an IM/gchat message is probably the easiest way to get a hold of me.

I find this makes my life fairly stress free. I prefer working for myself but right now I’m working for a firm and they have to deal with this same thing from me. About the only thing I do is e-mail when I’ll be out or late, otherwise I ONLY check work e-mails when I am at work. I sent those late/out e-mails from my personal e-mail address because I refuse to log in to my work e-mail when I’m at home. The funny thing is when there is an “urgent” e-mail and I get to it a week or two later. Usually from not hearing from me they get someone else to do it.

Now as to the op’s question, I do agree on porn. I have a healthy porn stash myself, it’s what all red blooded males will have. Heterosexuals of course have our hetero porn, but the places I get porn from I’ve seen have the homosexual sections too, and I bet it’s the same for them. Heck I’ve known women that get it too, but that’s rarer or they just don’t admit it.

But the other two huge areas are the information access you have and the social ease of communicating with people. Back in the day it was hard to gather information and then get real time updates. Currently most of us check everything online that we need, heck we can talk to our phones and they’ll do google searches (which is why I don’t get why people aren’t all on android). I have found a wealth of health information online as well as hobbies. Most of us build our own computers and troubleshoot them online. For health I’ve found so many natural things to use that keep me really healthy that I would never have known about. Then you have online ordering of everything including the health and tech stuff. Apple cider vinegar, silver colloidal, tea tree oil and so many other things we can use now that few would have known about. There are Trader Joe’s and other places where you can even buy a lot of this stuff, even GNC now. Supplements for your joints, etc.

And for the social part, we’re communicating right now on here, but probably you’ve also got some forms of chat software up too, maybe Facebook, Google+ etc.

I mean it’s amazing if you think about it. Remember before you’d have to pick up a phone and call if you were at home, and then hope someone could answer some questions. You’d go to the library and pretty much only have access to the books they already had. You’d maybe need magazines to find the rarer stuff. Then you might have to go all over the city after calling everyone if you lived in a big city to get something. Otherwise maybe you’d have to call up some company out of nowhere and ask them to ship to you. If you were at home all you could really do is maybe play a console game by yourself. You were completely reliant on your doctor for your health concerns and any treatments. If you wanted to pick up a new hobby you’d probably either need to read books and then hope you were lucky, or just randomly learn it yourself, instead of having access to proven knowledge (say lifting weights even, so much info on the internet for that, same with any other thing you want to pick up).

You were completely at the mercy of media and government propaganda, because there were no real ways for regular people to communicate with each other, and certainly not with divergent viewpoints.

Well, I’ve been able to earn $0.39 after just 11 hours of work on this site: asdfghjkl.org

DVD quality just doesn’t do anything for me anymore.

Also, not being able to causally slip the word “nigga” into everyday conversation.

What would you consider to be ‘true’ knowledge vs. ‘google’ knowledge? I feel like kids nowadays doesn’t think critically because why would you when all the answers are in your phone.
Don’t know how to do a SQL INNER JOIN? Just google it.
What’s the Perl command that returns all files date stamped 01-01-12? Google it.
How to do a Windmill powermove? Google it.
How to do proper bench press? Google it!
etc
See what i mean?

-Wikipedia. Being able to find out anything just by searching that site? Yeah. I know too much about stuff I never needed to know because of that site.

-Torrents. There is nothing like getting any distro of Linux I want to try out and any movie or TV show I want to watch rapidly.

-IMs/Skype. You get spoiled living overseas by not having to wait weeks for mail to be delivered or have $1000 phone bills by being able to just talk instantly for free.

Music Vids. Extensive previews/info on a product, music, anime, being able to watch all the J-Porn in the world…FREE!. Social media also, able to keep in touch with minimal effort.

So true, even in tech school, a lot of the instructors were saying: “Can’t figure it out? Google it!”

I’ve lost countless hours of sleep and missed alot of social activities because of teh internetz.

Best and worst thing to ever happen to me
