How does it feel to know that you're playing a(n arguably) bottom-tier character?

With Guy players that like to show how clever they are and wall jump your U2, the first time you play one pick U2 and if you go down in the corner they cant help but try to bait the OCH so they can wall bounce away. So just don’t U2 and slide on wakeup instead.

Caveat - I have not tested this, but presumably you can hit them with an oily HP or EX slide as they are landing after the wall jump, or you could go for a lp slide to come up short and go into an oil dive?

for bison player i just do the same as balrog i play defensive and attack their mistakes several times the bison player will hop in the ear for a tricky blox screen and float down to you when this happen automatically jump in the air with N.jump Airgrab and then oil up for a post dive mix up or just go for some damage. For Balrog rush punch i usually use CC just like with Vega wwall jump i try to do the quick coward crouch and instantly get up for a grab or oil dive sometimes it works sometimes it don’t to me they are the two match up i have problem with.

Problem with this tactic is that it will never get you to the top. If you play a top Bison or Balrog player, he’s not likely to make many mistakes, if he makes any at all.

how do you guys deal with lameness? especially when the opponent has a health lead and they’re so shit that the next move is unpredictable ?? then they do nothing but zone you out by jumping away till the fucking timer runs out … honestly … this is the most irritating thing to face with hakan … i can fight from a distance with juri and sim … at 3/4 of the screen i am still in control … with hakan the gap needs to be 1/4 to roughly less than 1/2 for him to be a threat … this by far is the hardest thing im having trouble adapting to …

Ok. I’ll go question by question. I deal with lameness by being patient and try not to fall for the okie-doke. As for unpredictable, most of the time they have a pattern. Meaning that due to their randomness, you haven’t downloaded them yet. 9 times out of 10, they will tell on themselves and you can figure it out. The reason why they’re jumping back, is because they want you to slide so they can punish. One thing I did was record Ryu, ken & Juri(it seems that its always these players that do it) jumping back in the corner and time when they would land so I can EX slide, I would either hit them or slide underneath them and grab them from the opposite side. Lately, Ive been just walking over and making them panic and do something rash when I’m in range. In stead of sliding, just oil dash twice or three times over (depending on the range) and it make the opponent do something stupid.

As for Fire balls, mix up FADC, Jump over and CC…. Never Block one if you can. I usually FADC them to build up my Ultra meter, but It can help you in the long run against certain characters to bait them to get closer. Case in point; CC Gouken fireballs. CC one maybe two, and I pretty sure the Gouken is going to do the Demon Flip to punish the CC, but by then he;s in the air, you can punish him.

Pretty much what I’m saying, is its not easy. No matter what level you are on, **Hakan is one of the hardest characters to learn in this game. **So, if you are going to give Hakan another go be prepared to lose, A lot.

Hakan is a SOLID mid tier character in AE 2012 I think. Is he in the top 15? probably not, but I’d honestly put him above characters like Dudley, Gen, Dan, Deejay, Guy, T.Hawk, and Vega if I had to make a tier list.

Hakan may not be in the top 10, but he’s MOS DEF in the top 15.

Yes, thats him. I’ve seen the replay actually. And I’ve beaten him with Hakan a few times too. I think he has a hard time dealing with him, tbh.

I dunno about top 10, time will tell. Hakan definitely needs some better players behind him, though.

GGs Samurai Drew today at the shadowloo qualifier… it was fun hangin out with you and playing some awesome sets … also it was awesome seeing how you handled certain match ups… arguably one of the best hakans I’ve seen! too bad nothing was caught on stream
we need to do a re-write up on the juri vs hakan and dhalsim vs hakan matchups … there were some interesting findings in our sets…

its alot tougher when someone knows what hakan is capable of and what the better punishes would be eh ? … but i also learned alot about how to deal with him as well as what to fish for with hakan if i ever faced a juri or sim … all in all geat educational sets…

i kinda figured it would be more interesting than boring each other out with a hakan mirror match … lol
