Just curious on about how folks hold their joysticks…
I have a bat top and I tend to hold in a fist but usually hold it with my hands shaped into a C.

I usually grip as well. But I read on how to hold the stick the proper (well…) way. When you grip the stick, ironically it seems theres a higher risk of slipping off. If you hold it with just the index, middle and the thumb, its more secure. I guess because the pinky and the forefinger protect the bottom portion of the stick. Ive have slippage happen to me in battles, which is kinda embarrassing. So, now I use the three-finger technique, and I havent had it happen since.
Do you remember where you read that info from? I wanna take a look.
I know what your talking bout with the whole hand slipping from the stick, I’ve been doing it recently and it’s annoying as hell. Holding the stick with just your index, middle and thumb wouldn’t that be more of a tapping method?
Whole reason I made this thread is cause for some reason I just don’t feel comfortable gripping it and wondering how others manage.
I have a ball top and I either hold with my hand in a normal loose c shape around it or with my pinky and ring finger on the thumb side, opposite the index and middle.
Ball top at home, I hold it with the tip of my fingers and thumb. Same method at the arcade. I usually dislike hard springs on sticks.
Well, for Marvel, I mostly just have my hand laying near the stick and just flick it. For other games, whine glass.
It was from gamefaq…
A guy gave tips on how to hold the stick, ensuring no-slippage or uncomfortable feelings while holding the stick. Gripping the stick is okay, but you tend to have a harder time executing moves like that. Look at it this way, to perform a qtc, qcb or qcf move, its harder than holding it in a c-shape, because youre basically using your whole hand to perform the move. Thats why you may have noticed that your normal execution doesnt well…execute. With the c-shape or other methods, its kinda like playing on the pad, where you follow the order of the directional commands of a move. So, theres more wrist labor involved, making it easier to perform qtc’s, etc…
I see… cause I’m kinda of having trouble doing QCB for some apparent reason when I be trying to do Sent’s FF. Its like I know what to do in my mind but I just can’t do it on the stick, now QCF I can do that all day long.
So right now lately I’ve been in practice mode just doing QCB non-stop trying to get a feel for it and doing it as fast as I can. I can do it consistently for like 3-4 reps but once I start comboing I just can’t get it down.
Any other tips in achieving my problem this would be great.
Sometimes with right, but mostly with left. I’ll use both hands if I’m feeling frisky and want to play with my…oh wait. Ummm…I just use my thumb, pointer, and middle fingers.
Pointer and Middle finger round the stick, side of thumb resting on the other side of the stick. Ring and Pinky are just clenched in to a fist (I say clenched, but it is more gentle :D)
I’d like to think that information is private.

Prefer a stick… but if I had to use a 360 controller… i’d sit it in front of me and use it as similarly as possible. The ps3 controller… I dunno if it’s just b/c I’ve used a ps mote of some type for like 15 years now but I can hold it normally and do just anything as well as I can on stick. I use the dpad if I’m playing on a ps3 with no aracde stick. Only thing that is harder are some faster crouch cancels…
Bump, anyone else have any unique way of holding their stick?
