whats your strategy against a runaway storm when you are cable and dont have an anti air to catch her? i need help
Give the person running away alot of money cuz there soooo cool.
Just patients. And Wait…
Solo or with an assist? While CapCom or Blackheart make your job a lot easier, if you’ve don’t you have them but still have some team left that obviously greatly changes things. If it’s just your Cable at that point, you’ve pretty much lost. You better hope for about ~15 seconds per third of life bar she has left, and manage to get awesome chipping grenade and laser placement, hope for lucky grenade and light scimitar hits, and work those crossovers when she lands. Note of course that almost any player trying to get back to SJ airspace will often be pressing up, so a low attack pause low attack series can sometimes get you that critical hit as you interrupt their jump.
[With Magneto-A](http://www.zachd.com/mvc2/ecc9/11f JMar (MSS) vs RowTron (W SentCableMag) 3of3 Storm comeback.wmv) (excerpted from unreleased video from top of ECC9 loser’s bracket) - note that JMar gets tricked a couple times into getting hit by Mag-A. Summoning any projectile assist and then SJ and using any knockdown attack should get you either some chip or a surprise hit. Don’t be predictable in any case, though, since Lightning Attack will mess you up.
I prefer Tron-Y backing against Storm - two primary ways to get damage their are summon Tron, jump way back as Storm lands and gunshot OR attack sequence + Tron, crossover jump as Tron’s 1st ring activates (so you land by the 2nd ring activation) and then back off to allow them to try to jump between the 2nd and 3rd rings (which is a no-no). You pretty much have to get her down, though, in any case. If she’s on top of you, you’ve got the scimitar, grenade, and not a lot of hope…
Chip chip chip chip chip, really.
well my team is now storm cable sent, but i could use team scrub if anyone is running away to much…i guess storm is a goner :xeye:
From experience, it’s really Blackheart and Commando assist by far.
an easy way to bring her down. throw a TON of lp scimitars up. most people that run stupidly, wont notice you running towards them. so throw some scimitars. and when she comes down, dash over, clk, cmp, shk, xx ahvb = done storm. just watch out for vertical typhoons. it’s easy to carelessly throw scimitars up and get hit by a vert typhoon, LA xx LS.
another thing i usually do, is super jump at the same time she does, and throw a nade. if she does LA, block that first and then push and cancel to ahvb. you should be able to hit, but i’m not sure (correct me on this if i’m wrong). if she doesn’t do LA and keeps running, throw a nade over her path. and if she lands in it, you can super jump again, and now you’re over her… this is where you sj over her, and land on her. as soon as you get a hit, ahvb.
this is a bad matchup for cable in general, but there are ways around it. just don’t get too caught up in chasing her, or she’ll fuck you up. keep it simple. do basics to get her down. if not, try to trick her into fucking up. but don’t get careless. i gave examples of both careless runaway and smart here. so just play safely.
good luck
lp psimitars dont work against this person, and when they get to the ground they know to block low against my stuff, so is there anyway to keep a storm locked down on the ground until they make a mistake an i can ahvb her or do something?
How don’t they work? They’re not supposed to hit - nothing is supposed to hit - you’re just supposed to chip away slowly until you CAN connect something into Pain. There’s no Win button here: you have to earn the damn victory.
exactly. there’s no easy, sure fire way to get around storm, with any character. people say, go fly with sentinel, but you should be in unfly mode, and you have to watch out for lightening attacks. although priority-wise, you beat her, you don’t do it without putting yourself in easy danger. then there’s magneto… storm’s s.hk literally beats his entire rushdown game… or you can be servbot, who can stand between her and her s.hk surprisingly. it’s funny to see… go right up against him, and do s.hk… it doesn’t connect…
cable is the worst out of all the gods to fight her though. theoretically, cable would have the easiest time. but you just have to play it safe. if he knows to block down every time he comes down, do a normal jump, so this way as soon as he comes down and lands, he wont have enough time to see cable’s drop kick coming down on him.
i see said the blind man.
wait for them to sj, and when they do, sj.hp after them, …well i just catch them in a mistake, try to be unpredictable, usually careless runaways will just sj, not noticing you are already at their face with a big bad gun on their nose, then cancel to AHVB eheheheheh. or if that doesnt work, wait for them to land…dont bring out your assist if its storm…she’ll hailstorm the hell out of that assist. Or when they slip up and do nj instead of sj, just j.hp, then cancel to AHVB, curve it down for them, guard break. when storm is building meter with lk or hp, time their delay then sj.hpxxAHVB.
press their start button :karate:
I hadnt heard of this one! is it the same as when you kill a char and the next one’s entering? I cant time this one right yet so instead i call Rogue’s assist and AHVB
I know… it must be annoying :encore:
for storm do not waist ahvb and do not do one unless you are sure you are catching her. caues she can easely dash and f-you up, but if you looking for a team worthy of a beasty cable look in to blackheart, cable capcom. With that team i seldomly loose, and that happens when i get to tired of winning or just bored of winning.
i appreciate all the advice. but dont tell me to use capcom and blackheart against a runaway storm… i know how to get’em down with cpacom and BH. My initial question was how do i beat a storm with no assist like that… and ive found you really cant. the best chance i have is jumping over them when they land and then hitting them high with a j.hk. sometimes they just get impatient and start rushing me down… but really there is no sure way to get them down as preppy said. :karate:
