How do I prevent blisters from D-Pads?

Buy a stick, never play FG on pad again. Problem solved.

use a light touch

My mommy knitted me some wool gaming gloves. It says “GAME TIME” across my fingers when I put my two fists together.

Slide your thumb dang it, I really don’t see how everyone gets blisters.
Then again, I’ve used broken Japanese analogs so my thumbs aren’t exactly sensitive.

wouldnt be surprised if i saw this at some local tourney

Your best option is to save up and purchase a stick (the Mad Catz SF sticks are easy to find now). If you still choose to play on the pad, you have to be gentle with the D-pad and take breaks; that way you will slowly develop a callous on your thumb, and playing won’t hurt nearly as much. If you’re too forceful with the D-pad and don’t take breaks, you’re going to get a blister.

alternatively-> Latex Finger Cots (with some baby powder if u wish)

I usually wear a beanie or knit cap, I’ll just take it off and hold it over my hand to cover my thumb if I ever have to play on pad. Another way is to just bear it, eventually you’ll just get callus on your thumb and won’t have to worry anymore.

Lol a pain I know to well

use your toes

I never got blisters from any video game except for Killer Instinct, buyt that involved crazy 100 hit combos.

You press to hard, i used to use a xbox S type controller as my main(yeah i know). And if any controller will hurt your fingers its that one. Now i use ps1 controller, the trick is to be fast but not press hard. You might be hurting yourself cause you just started using a D pad. Eventully you wont hurt yourself at all.

How much would it cost to get a stick modded to work for PS3 and 360? Where would I get that done or is it a self-done job?

I’m interested =p

I do plan on getting a stick eventually, but a PS3 + a LCD monitor + a fighting stick all at once is a bit overboard just to play some BB…

Thanks for the links to the cheaper sticks – I was thinking of just saving up for a TE stick later, but is that worth it for just BB? Or can I get away with the cheaper sticks?

I’ve only gotten those things just once, but strangely enough, not from playing on pads.

It’s easier to mod an XBox 360 stick for PS3 than it is the other way around. Look for something called the Cthulu board in the Tech Talk section. It’s not very hard at all to install, but if you have no clue what you’re doing then you may want to ask a friend who may have an idea instead of pay someone to do a relatively simple task.

If you do plan to mod it at all, you can save yourself a lot of trouble by getting a TE stick. I believe the stick is designed to be easily modded though I think the SE stick may be as well. If you wanna go for a cheaper stick, go for a Madcatz SE stick instead of a Hori EX2/FS3.

You’re getting BLISTERS from the d-pad? Quit spazzing on it. Do you also do that retarded jumping around/jerking the pad through the air like a girl thing when you react to something onscreen? I’ve been playing games since 85 and never had blisters, and I was a fuckin’ addict.

Not true. I could play fighting games with the dpad for hours on in with no repercussions. Stop playing so hard. Being hard on the controller won’t perfect your game or chances of doing a special attack.

I used to think it was funny how I’d play against a few of my friends for like 2+ hours and their thumbs were red as hell or their hand or arm hurt. Fucking relax will you.:bluu: Just chill one day and practice being light and relaxed on the controller.

The only 2 reasons i could come up with for your blisterings are:
1)You go mad crazy pressing the buttons and rubbing them so hard that your skin practically starts to bleed.

Dont do this! You don’t need to be rash on the pad for your moves to come out. If the moves don’t come out, it is not always your fault, it just means the pad sucks ass.

2)You have very sensitive hands. If so, try wearing gloves.

what kind of gloves are the best?
