Hi! I live in GA and there’s nearly 0 FGC scene here, so i’ve decided to try and make the scene bigger by creating some time of meet-up…
Advice on trying to get something started?

Strange, considering that your local scene has an annual major every year called Final Round. Did you check the Atlanta South section in Regional Matchmaking yet? I’d look there first if I were you.
If you just want to get started, you’ll need to start by getting people’s contact info, setups, and a venue. Venue can be your house, but it’s important you get enough setups to get the players playing on a regular basis. Anywhere from 2-3 is a good place to start, but obviously the more the merrier. Once that happens, it’s all about contacting the local players around you and seeing who shows up. Creating a thread in the Regional Matchmaking section is a great way to get more players to become aware you’re holding sessions.
Thanks! I mean, yeah. But Final Round happens once a year. And I can’t go to Battle and Brew because I’m under 21 LOL
If you build it, they will come. Most times there isn’t a scene is because noone’s willing to put in the work to build one. If your city has a population over ~5000 people, it probably has enough people for a meetup (albeit a small one).
Thanks You guys are helping me greatly!!
Anime conventions have gaming rooms most of the time, go there and actively try to meet people to play with. If theres a retro game store try to hang out and meet people who play fighting games, and get a tournament hosted there if possible.
Don’t anime conventions normally have scrubs with stupid house rules?
If you have an arcade or even like a hobby store go there and try and meet people. Lots of magic and warhammer players play FG’s, actually.
I don’t think it really matters, considering people who go to anime conventions aren’t the sort of company you should keep for yourself
