How do i clean a arcade sticks button?

alright, so this is my first time openin up a stick. this is an injustice arcade stick, so its not that old. its just the square button gets stuck sometimes, and then when it does and i press it, no inputs come out. it started messin up when i was tryin benimarus trials in kofxiii. heres a picture of where im at

what do i do next?

It’s probably a switch issue rather than a dirty button issue. A sticky switch will most likely need a replacement. Good luck.

thanks for the help, but im convinced its the button, it squeeks a bit when pressed. never heard of anyone with a sticky switch (and i have no idea what that is, haha)

edit
oh, and if your right, then sorry im an idiot, this is my first stick ever.

It’s ok. What you can do is take the entire button apart, then soak all the plastic parts in soapy water. Let it soak a few hours, then use a cloth to clean it and rinse it off. Do not soak the switch, just the button. If after putting it together it still squeaks, it could either be a poorly manufactured button and the plastic rubs against itself, or it’s the switch. If it’s the switch, you’d have to take the switch apart and look for any residue and wipe it clean with a cloth, but do not soak the switch or get water near it.

You can also replace the Qanba switch with a Sanwa SW-68 switch found in Sanwa buttons.

But I go with Moonchilde on this one, it could just be some dirt inside. Also wash your hands more.

It also might be the LED board… if you want to take that out, follow the directions here

thank you guys for the help so far. alright, im gonna try takin the button out and cleaning it then. (i do wash my hands every time i use it). to get the button out, i push down on the long piece on the side of it with a screwdriver, right?

nevermind, i just opened it, oh my god that made me so nervous. phew. ok, im testin it now to see if the buttons fine, ill edit this post later.

Take the LED board out but do not wash it. Just brush it with an old, dry tooth brush to get it clean. Just want to make sure it’s clear not to wash the board, some of the wording above made it seem like you were going to, lol.

haha, nah i wasnt gonna. i wanted to first find out wtf im doin, and then try cleanin the button itself. heres what the buttons looked like before i tried cleanin them

see? no dirt, no nothin. i wash my hands before every time i play, but SOMEHOW, after wiping it with a napkin, an puttin it back together, the squeek is gone, and the button feels like all the others. the hell? i dont know, but im so glad its fixed, thank you all for your help.

Parts might of been misaligned
