How difficult would it be to have a fighting game tournament on a PC?

I ask this because someone talked about this on twitter claiming the idea of having a fighting game tournament on PC would just be impractical for some reason. I’m willing to give benefit of the doubt, but personally i don’t see how it would be that much of an issue. Mostly asking for curiosities sake cause i might be missing something.

The only issue I can see is around controllers.

  1. If you plug in a controller that the computer doesn’t initially recognize, you’ll have to go through Windows searching for the appropriate drivers and such.
  2. I might be wrong on this (as I’m not a PC player), but I vaguely remember that there were some games that didn’t play well with plugging/unplugging controllers while the game was running.

^same.

Also consider VSync / non Vsync lag introduced to the computer setup, also background process like windows defender and stuff may affect the process.

We’ve been running 02UM tournaments on steam here and it really sucks to not have the game running properly on every setup, plus people not getting how to config their controllers

Also alot of tourneys have to ether buy or rent gear and desktop computers cost more than a console.

PC tournaments would make it easier for people to cheat by running scripts in the background.
