"How did you lose when the game was blocking for you?"

Yeah I guess. I’m not too mad though; those dudes paid, so the need to win.

Shit talking in general tends to just make me feel the other player is pathetic regardless of their skill, if I lose fair and square I at least expect the other person not to be so much of a douchebag as to insult me afterwards. On topic though, I’ve not had much trouble with the gems now. I main Zangief so that tends to make it easier I still lose some of the time but I’ve gotten better once I just wait for them to attack and then punish.

When you see A-ranked autoblock users, you have no choice but to get angry about it. They probably actually think they’re good too. It’s like playing an FPS with auto-aim.

I wouldn’t even mind if they left it at the 1 bar cost, but 1/6th bar? The guy I played liberally used meter, supers, alpha counters, doesn’t matter. There’s always more meter where that came from.

And I hate when people say “oh don’t complain, try to counter it!” HOW?!?! Throws, the natural counter, are shit in this game. And how do frame-traps work if the gem user has no motivation to press a button? What do characters with slow walk speeds, who rely on high/low mixups, get any traction on these guys? And don’t get me started on the power of getting to walk forward without fear with Zangief. And the STUPID stuff like Yoshi and Kuma getting to block in their unblockable stances.

Darkzero15 is one such A Rank Autoblock user on the PSN.

What do you guys think is a good anti-autoblock team is? Zangief is a natural choice, as his command throw is by far the best in the game, forcing them to jump where they’re vulnerable or risk eating the piledriver.

But who goes with him? I see benefit in a fireball game, as well as someone to get in on your opponent, someone quick with good block strings. Maybe Ryu/Ken, using fireballs for positioning, getting in with an air hurricane kick into SRK tag canceled into Zangief.

I’ve been using Akuma, but it’s different for everyone. Thing is, I hate shotos but it’s suicide not having one on your team in this game. I usually use the Shun Goku Satsu liberally against those. I can’t offer advice if she’s good against the assist gems (yet) but Elena seems to do good for cancels with 'Gief. I’ve been playing a lot of those two.

I’m not changing my teams around some gems…that’s just stupid imho. I either go down with my team or not at all…there is no point in it otherwise.

I’m surprised I was able to even beat higher ranked players with auto gems on(Not many). It’s just irritating to fight anybody that is a B and onward and they have on auto tech/block gems…it makes the match that much harder. You need every opportunity you can to open up a good enough player and each time you see that character flash it just kills my motivation because that flash should have led to a damaging combo that could turn the tide of the fight in my favor. Whenever I did get a win against an auto gem user I just had to rub it in their face. It’s hard to resist.

think if you have a vega/chun or poison/bison or anymore poke heavy characters, there’s no way to open up a person using the cheap auto gems.

I Main Poison, there are ways…Learn to frame trap them. I do ok against it…So again, if Ima lose…I’m losing with my team.

Therook is a real man/woman.

I’ve done alright against it myself, and I’d never suggest changing out a character just to deal with these things that may or may not even exist soon (well they will likely blocked them out in ranked or something like that).

Still… ugh.

The worst part is making the screen flash 10-20 times in a round, and when the round is up he still has 1.5 bars of meter for the next round.

And the characters who have it the absolute worst is high/low mixup characters like Heihatchi.

The one good thing I can say about facing autoblock users is that it forces you to outsmart them. You can’t just go high/low, ambigiously cross them up, etc. Those don’t matter anymore. You HAVE to get them to do something stupid, make them jump, make them press a button, make them just stand there etc.

use the auto-block gem yourself and have the best match ever.

And who has it the better/best?
Note: Heihachi can combo of a 50/50 mixup if it hits (high and low).

But it won’t hit. The game will block it for them. You get no damage, no followup 300-400 damage that you would’ve gotten, they might get a free punish if the overhead you used is punishable, and all it cost them was 1/6th of a bar of meter. Something you build by blocking/whiffing 2-3 moves.

And as I stated earlier, the characters that can best handle autoblock are Zangief (since you can’t auto-tech command grabs) and characters with fireballs (to force them to jump, or do a move that goes through fireballs thus exposing themselves). Characters relying on high/low mixups are screwed because autoblocking takes care of that entirely, and frame-traps are heavily weakened because the incentive for the opponent to push a button isn’t there.

The characters that benefit best from autoblock are characters designed to keep you out for as long as possible (Dhalsim, Guile), because once someone get in on you, the game blocks every mixup until you escape. Also, since autoblock will activate even if you’re walking forward, characters like Zangief can keep approaching you without fear of walking into something.

What is the incentive to jump over or wave dash through a fireball? Some people are just holding forward…
Heihachi has it better because he can force, relatively, more situations where the gem will activate and hope to use up as much meter as possible.

The fact you can walk forward and activate AG is just disgusting.

Just… had to throw that out there. Still salty from a couple of AG battles I had to deal with days ago, lol. :badboy:

Lol I will be trying this. I main posion and ryu and the funniest thing ever is to beat these asshats with auto block. Just spam the fireball. When they run out of meter. Go crazy.

In my opinion assist gems should be allowed only in endless not ranked.
