How did you get into fighting games?

can someone help me?
What the hell kind of Street Fighter did I play?
There were glitches EVERYWHERE!
This one ryu would jump and throw horizontal hadoukens constantly while in the air, he would have thrown like 20 SUPER SLOW hadoukens before he lands. The whole screen was filled with hadoukens!

Sounds like Rainbow Edition, which is the general name for a series of SFII’ CE hacks.

my first exposure to fighting games was an SF1 machine at a local arcade. that cab was huge.

I got hooked when the first SFII was released in arcades. I had a cousin who loved fighting games. He would take me (he was in charge of babysitting me at the time) to a nearby 7-11 that had a SFII machine almost every other day. I got into fighting games early and I’m happy for it.

I have to also mention I was fortune enough to live in an area where there were many arcades and access to fighting games. There were 2 really great arcades within a 15 minute walking distance of my cousin’s place.

i messed around with my buddies from time to time with games like SF2 and tekken 3 that everyone had back in the day

but i really got interested…when i saw evo moment 37. It sounds cheesy, but when i saw that clip i didnt really know much about 3S, and wanted to know more, so when SF:AC came out i picked one up and got into fighters

Copy that.

I was about 12 years old playing the SF machine at Aladdin’s Castle in Torrance.
(Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back inthe day.)
It was the one with huge rubber spring loaded pads that you push/hit/elbowed.

Then Street Fighter II came out in my early early high school days and that was it. KOF '94 pretty much solidified it.

I see… thats one messed up game…

Besides that I was really into VF1. It was 3d!!! I was like no way?! They look so real…
I was a tiny little kid, and I was beating up everyone who challenged me just by jumping towards early kick. I would keep doing that and they would either keep getting hit or block till they get ringed out. Frame… advantage? lol
Akira’s pic on the cab was an arab with a turban LOL

At my after-school centre, they had “Body Blows”, which was the first fighting game I came in contact with. A friend who were older than me brought me to the only real arcade in Denmark, where we played Tekken 3 - since then I was sold.

Deadly Moves on Genesis.
Got to know everything about that shitty game, then somehow my brain started working “hey fighting games are cool but there must be something better than this”

Yup that’s the one! That was THE arcade of Seattle. It’s just a damn shame it closed down. So much tight shit went down at that arcade.

I have no damn idea how I started liking fighting games. I can honestly say that I can’t remember a time when I didn’t like fighting games.

i did it for the bitches

I’ve always loved games with action and fighting of some type in it. Like the classic Double Dragon arcade, and then Final fight. SFII:WW was my first real experience with 1-on-1 fighting.

Never stopped since, to this day my favorite genre is still 2D fighting.

I never used to like SFII. Still don’t all that much, really. I liked those stupid fun ones like Primal Rage and Shaq Fu :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Just kidding about Shaq-Fu. That was shit. I think MK did it for me. Then when SF: Anniversary Collection came out for the X-Box, along with Guilty Gear XX #Reload and my best friend picked them up and brought them to the teen center, I was hooked. Ken and Ky-Kiske :lovin: Those were the days…

Edit: Oh yeah! Tekken 2!!! That was what got me into video games, along with Twisted Metal. Tekken 2 still has a place in my heart :lovin:

ah yes, I was maybe 7 or 8. I got champion edition for genesis. my whole family was in on that game for a while, I didnt understand the art of the quarter circle so I mostly stuck with the charge characters, except vega. fuck vega. I thought E honda was the man, just mash heavy punch and hold forward=instant win. to be so blissfully ignorant again sigh

I played SF 2 at a Stop N Go.

i was a kid,
and i had an snes

Saw it at 7-Eleven.

Played SF II CE at some random corner store with my uncle when I was but a child. Hooked ever since. Won’t stop because I can’t stop.

CE at Warminister Diner. Good F***ing times.

A Tilt at Sharpstown Mall had some strange arcade machine with a whole bunch of people around it. I wanted to see what everyone was watching and what was saying “All-you-can!”.
