How did you all choose a main?

Back then, I played 3S on MAME without having any grasp of how to really play. Mashin DPs against the CPU all day lol.
Then I played Ken. Then SF4 came (PC) And I continued to main Ken. Switched to Ryu after trying him out. Then Akuma and Ryu again.
In Super I also picked up Cody, because he’s a cool dude. Then I just felt like, I couldn’t get any better with Ryu.
Like, a glove that doesn’t really fit. Then I watched a Gootecks interview where he told the same story and then switching to Balrog.

So I tried that and I just loved the way he plays. So I stuck with him. It was at that stage too, where I learned about links, frames and all that important stuff.

But in general, I choose based on how much a character appeals to me. Looks, voice, moves, ideology.

I saw the Daigo concept matches and it inspired something in me. Specifically the short set between Daigo and Inoue’s Dictator. The rush down, the defense, and the aerial mobility got me in. I picked Dictator for the last three years.
