Its something I noticed, I watch more U.S players anyway like F3S, Calipower, Mopreme and others
I noticed JPN players use SA1 or is it me

I think JPN players use SA1 because they play a much more safe game than U.S players. Denjin is a pretty risky super, and setting it up wrong in high level play means it’s getting parried or you’re going to be peaced out. Or both.
If denjin doesnt stun, you will eat a reversal super. =/
I used to use denjin myself. But a really good player made me realize all the risks associated with it and now I use SA1.
i’m no denjin expert, but i hate having to guess if thye will jump or if they parry instantly when they come. vanao is the only japanese denjin player i know, but he’s pretty damn good at it. check him out.
Every video I’ve seen of Vanao, he gets owned :shake:
Denjin is a difficult super to use, and gets more and more difficult at higher levels. The only American players I’ve seen use denjin competently are Frank and Amir. I’d say as far as ease of use, sa1 is to denjin like Chun is to Yun.
I’ve seen Vanao win some matches here and there. It’s a real roll of the dice super. Simply just not reliable if you want to consistantly win. A lot of winning with Denjin relies on just being good with everything else Ryu has. Then the Denjin will complement your game better.
Japanese people don’t have souls. Didn’t you already know that? :amazed:
But really I think it’s that no matter how good your set up is, unless it’s a combo it can be parried and especially if you’re in japan
I think I will stick with Frankie3S & Calipower then
Frankie3s and Calipower dont play 3s anymore.
Play me on GGPO and Ill show you guys how to use it to the full potential.
what you mean F3S & Cali don’t play anymore, do they now play SF4 instead and its a shame they stop playing 3S
they still play 3s but not as good as they used to be and
theyre both into street fighter 4 now. yes its ashame.
Oh man, is there any footage of Frankie playing SFIV? I’m interested
Shinku is Used over Denjin in Japan because Japanese players, in my opinion, seem to play a more textbook style of play; they would rather combo a SA1 because it’s guaranteed. Denjin, however, is never guaranteed unless you’re comboing for 1 or 2 hits. So it’s a gamble in order to use Denjin.
Again, this is what it SEEMS like. I might be wrong. They might have other reasons for not using Denjin. If I’m right about them, though, i completely disagree with that logic.
My one problem with Denjin is that it requires the opponent to be stunned a good deal in order for it to be useful in the first place. This means that your ryu would have to Parry more compared to SA1 in order to be more efficient. I, however, refuse to block on wakeup with Denjin. So it works out. But it doesn’t mean that I win all the time. Lol.
Hope this helps
frank doesnt play sf4 that much, getting faded and playing 3s is still a very regular thing.
I think denjin is used less in japan because its not very scary once you get good at parrying all its setups, it usually just gets you a free throw or at best a 2 hit denjin hit, cuz redparry setups are the only setups that really work with denjin.
I once read that Franky3s basically showed the world how to use Denjin properly.
That guy is crazy good.
As for the Japanese, I think they dont think outside the box enough when it comes to supers. Like, they’d rather stick with the solid low MK x super. And when it comes to Denjin, maybe they arent crazy enough to time it confusingly enough for their opponents. In order to use Denjin well, you GOTTA be unpredicable. Its part of the game.
It’s because Denjin is a bit of a gimmick super and doesn’t work on some matchups. In the us, you can change your character. In japan, you can screw yourself over picking denjin. Some characters have direct counters to most denjin setups. Akuma can teleport on wakeup, and ryu pretty much can’t stop it. Yang can tenshin sekyutai right under it on reaction. Alex with stun gun headbutt can just super through it as a counter. Some setups don’t work on chun because her houyouku sen super goes through fireballs. Some setups don’t work on Yun because he can time his shoulder tackle to go undernearth.
It’s like stun gun headbutt. Once you know how to stop most of the setups, the ryu player can only use certain specific setups…so you know to look for those.
It depowers the usefulness and effectiveness of the super quite a bit.
Also, denjin is charge max 1. Shinkuu is charge max 2 and gives you plenty of ex’s, and using ex moves is one of ryu’s strong points.
The last sentence from above. I still love denjin though
Denjin is a soulless super for soulless players!
what? no. if it’s setup correctly it’s going to be a total bitch either way. as far as meter, he has to play a bit differently but denjin is tiny. you can get denjin full incredibly quickly and if you do a basic ryu combo to push them to the corner (even using meter for ex joudan) you can get it back with like a 2 hit blocked combo cancelled into denjin. they then have like 50% stun anyway so that’s what, 3 hit denjin?
its absolutely nothing like stun gun headbutt.

sort of a bad example because ken isnt at 0 stun at the start.

yep, but isn’t it more fun being soulless sometimes? I think so
