How come i can't keep my opponents up in the air?

oooooo i see. hahah thanks for the graphics king. i got the air dash

i think i know what im doing wrong.
im still working on a good combo, but a basic combo is this right

air rave him first, do alittle puny attacks, and then hyper grav ,cancel it into that pebble blaster right?

if it is, i can’t execute the hypergrav fast enough with a ps2 controller. i was thinking of buying an x-arcade or a cheaper version of a x-arcade controller.

Whatever you do though, DON’T rely on the R1 button to air dash. It’s a horrible habit. Make sure you ALWAYS air dash with both punches.

Practice triangle jumping with both regular and super jumps. Then once you get that down do a tri jump with a lk at the end of it. Then do that into a c.lk, then a c.hp.

The most basic combo that involves an A/D is this:

c.lk, c.hp, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.lp, sj.lk, ad/uf, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.fp.

Here is an advanced version of that combo (Note: I actually put MP and MK there because it would be hard to understand if I didn’t in this perticular combo)

c.lk, c.hp, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mp (pause) sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mp, sj.mk, ad/uf, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mp (pause, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mp, sj.mk, (then either hyper grav xx tempest or…) sj.fp

I would definitely suggest getting an arcade stick. Most people complain about x-arcades but I find them pretty good. If you can find one for a good price ($70 or so) then I’d get it. Either that or get a MAS stick. (www.massystems.com)

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

True R1 can screw you over, but it’s a good way to get the basics down. There are few people who actually do tourney’s and the arcade sticks are mainly suited to that level play.

I do agree howevr that the stick is a better tool all around, no conflict. And the X-Arcade is a kick ass stickl, mine was stolen.

BF do you know exactly how much a MAS 6-button stick goes for?
The site was way to confusing for me, and I of course need a new stick that won’t cost me a shit load of money. My X-Arcade…

http://gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=801759

would this do? or x-arcade?

Hell man go for the X-Arcade if you’re looking at that.

Trust me its very good, a little cumbersom at 12 lbs., but very good. And if you get it, get the solo stick, the two player one is just for show in my book.

hahaha aiite aiite.

but damn, x-arcade is expensive. 65 muchos for a refurbished one on ebay!

magic series the dash forward then magic hypergrav tempest…
when you dash be sure the direction is on opponent…

Do you read past the first post on any threads before you post??

Haha, just what I was thinking.

NK- I think the standard MAS sticks go for around $95, but if its for “special” systems like GCN or X-Box, then its more.

Also whatever you do don’t get that one stick that was in the link posted. Its a piece of shit. You’d be WAY better off getting an x-arcade or a MAS. MAS is prefferred.

True that.

Thanks for the price quote BF.

for someone who is also still in a bit of practice with him, I found it’s slower than I thought it was supposed to be. I was always rushing it, and they’d drop faster. You have to let a bit of time pass on the first two, possibly three shots, enough to let them reach the crest.

Magneto is a lot harder than iron man for me… It’s that half circle back that just kills me, I guess.

nj tri-jump lk is the the fastest overhead magneto has.

lol! that’s why i  at the arcades i am a not R1 L1 addict hats my airdash button also i have the wierdest option the lp ,lk,hp,hk buttons are like everyone else’s but the upper ones i have L1 for airdash, L2 for assist-a , R1 for assist-b n R2 for another lk in order to do cheap lightning attacks or drill claws what ever hehe sasutske kun or whatever in the ps2 the Grav tempest combo is a little tighter than arcade my trick is to buffer the HG when i do the mk for example launch , sj lp,lk,mp,mk and when i’m presing mk i start the motion for the HG then quickly press lk then instantly neutral n qcf+KK it’s better and after youleanr magnus non Hg tempest still practice it cuz you may forget the timing like i did once lol! well hope this helps and try not to be an addict to the ad buttoon it will frustrate you on arcades being killed by opponents you know you have the skills to kill on the ps2… my personal fucking case :lame:

well, I’m a noob when it comes to mag…I originally started playing it on the dc but then it broke down so I had to get the one for ps2…(dc’s is way better) and yea, the r1 starts to become a habit at first, but I played on the dc so I was used to using two buttons…but anyway, another basic combo,
c.lk, c.hp, sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mk, hyper grav xx tempest sj.lp, sj.lk, sj.mk a/d uf sj.lp sj.lk sj.mk hyper grav xx tempest…

i didn’t read the last 10’ish posts of this thread but… the maker of this thread said he cant keep em in the air when he does Tempest. He never said SHIt about Hyper grav. which answers the question. He didn’t know about grav i think.
