Is their a definitive list or something online that someone could direct me to? I’ve got a bunch of old games I need to get rid of and I don’t feel like going through amazon or ebay to do it. I’ve got a local mom and pop store that buys old games, and I’d like to have something to haggle with them. I don’t expect to get much, but I don’t want to get raped. A lot of them are PSX, PS2 and DC games I want to ditch. Been holding on to them for years and haven’t played them in forever since the newer consoles have been getting them. Now this place isn’t aware of EMU’s and Roms, so parting with these games isn’t a problem for me anymore like they would have been in the past. Most of them are in great condition for the most part, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to accept a shiny nickel for my troubles.
Sure they’d be doing me a favor by taking any of this, but to hell with that.
When it comes to games you’re pretty much going to get screwed wherever you go.
Have you tried goozex? They actually give you more for a game than any store would(if they accept your game), but they use a point a system and you can only redeem those points for other games on their website.
Soooo yeah, get screwed or get forced to use that money on more games.
That’s debateable. I don’t think they are, “she” on the other hand thinks they do. I haven’t played most of them in years, so I’m pretty sure I won’t be playing them anytime soon.
No store is going to give the full value of your games, or even 50% value…especially not in cash. They have to make a profit on the games, too.
Unless you feel like putting each game individually up at Craigslist or Amazon, selling the games in bulk on the SRK or an online auction would probably the best way to maximum the return. And even then you should expect to sell the game at 80% of the retail value of the game.
Never sell to brick-and-mortar stores. Especially not Gamestop. If you want to know the best approximate value for your more rare games, best to go to Amazon and check the AVERAGE selling price.
Throw that shit in a box and keep it in your attic/basement/a friend’s place/public storage (bonus with public storage is that you get to tell your wife her opinions cost you $30 a month)
have u tried selling them on the trading outlet on srk? if the games are ass or just plain old (madden 08 or something) i wouldnt bother selling it here lol.
If the game has a good appreciation value, like hard to find games or collectors, you could get lucky on some titles. But like Einlanzer said, if it’s just a run of the mill type of game, you might want to cut your losses and try to get anything for them.
The best place to sell games for the most $$ is ebay, check completed listings.
By the way, you won’t get dick for your games unless they are mint and complete (read: no surface scratches w/ case & instructions) or rare. Too many people manhandle the shit out of disc based media, which is fine if you never plan on selling it.
Case in point, a scratched to shit copy of Radiant Silvergun (a rare game in high demand at all times) recently sold for $25 while the minty versions still command $160+.
I went to the mom and pop shop and they gave me $83. I think I gave them about 12 PSX games and 4 PS2 games. Not a bad hall considering that most of the games were worthless IMO. They now have such classics as Warhawk and Streetfighter Alpha. I didn’t give them my copy of Ogre Battle LE which seems to be going for $200 on ebay. I think I’ll put mine more in line with the $60 ones and ask for $40 to $50. They were going to give me $12. Their used game prices seem to be inline with gamestop, but the fact that they took the games off my hands is a good thing. Gamestop won’t even touch Xbox games with a 10 foot pole.
