I really like when my opponent comboes me to death. But those teleports are killing it for me. Not only that, you are pressing a button to react, you think it is registered on screen but due to the opponent mashin the controller like mad, its as if you didnt press anything.
that is what destroys online play. Whereas in SF at least you know you pressed the blasted button and it registered…
Skullgirls suffers from that too. One mistake and its MvC2 all over again with teleports…
Are you kidding me? They’re basically saying to SFxT go sit in the corner while we make better use of your characters, ultras, stages, etc. minus the gems, Pandora and AC. I didn’t say or imply the two games would suddenly be too similar to tell apart by bringing over the 4 from one game to another…but I don’t see how it can be denied that’s it’s not preferable to have less fluff in favor of a more solid game.
I don’t know about that analogy either…seeing as how I never thought of CvSnk2 being an extension of Third Strike.
Did you even read my post? Like I said, it’s PING that matters, not internet speed which has very low requirements, a 100000000 Gbps connection won’t help if you’re going to play against someone with high ping.
Use some common sense and think why Japan has awesome SFIV online ? That’s because it’s very common to have <10ms local latency there, which is amazing and proof the game runs great when the network infrastructure is excellent.
If you live somewhere where it’s common to have high ping opponents, then yeah it sucks to be you, however not everyone’s SF4 experience is like that.
Verbally trying to explain to someone that thinks SF4 netcode is ‘good enough/playable’ doesn’t work. (hint: good enough/playable is never good enough)
They lack the core understanding of why minimal to no latency is the only way to play a Fighting game if theres any seriousness to it.
They don’t understand that few frames lag is more than enough to differentiate how the game can’t be play the way its intended.
Reactionary gameplay is an unknown concept to them, they’re happy as long as it looks and ‘feels’ smooth.
Introduce rollback netcode and they are quick to shout out ‘SFxT ONLINE IS GARBAGE. TOO MUCH TELEPORTING, ITS NOT SMOOTH. SF4 BETTER’.
All this while playing on wireless against 150+ms opponents.
‘BUT I CAN PLAY SF4 UNDER THOSE CONDITIONS!’.
Sure you can, just with big input lag and gamespeed slowdown that no FG player should compromise with.
Ignorance is a bliss ain’t it.
i personally prefer sf4 input lag to sfxt rollback. id rather have input lag then hit someone, start a combo, and then a frame later they’re comboing me…tho that happens only on bad connections…FUCK Y CANT WE JUST HAVE PERFECT CONNECTIONS?
if you completely fuck up the rollback netcode in an highly awaited game (at least for the pc port), you really mustn’t wonder why people prefer the working lag-based netcode.
and nope, it doesn’t even depend on the quality of your internet connection. you can play sfxt on pc with your f’n neighbor and one match is fine and the next will teleport your ass through the whole stage like crazy.
I’ve never had an issue with AE12 on Xbox Live. Whether the netcode is shit or godlike is apparently debatable, but in my experience on my connection, smooth matches have never been an issue. No failure to punish, no failure to block/backdash, AA’s work, footsies work, links work (occasional loss of 1F links, but I’m not Desk), and no issues staying connected to my opponent.
Is SFxT’s netcode really that good? I wouldn’t know as I have never played that game online even though I’ve had it for months.
Just because it’s rollback netcode doesn’t mean it’s good rollback netcode. I absolutely love it when it’s done right, Skullgirls is as close to perfect as you’re going to get. But Capcom just couldn’t bring themselves to license GGPO and decided to make their own and completely beefed it with SFxT. They need to stick with AE’s netcode until they learn how to do rollback properly (i.e. get GGPO).
I’ve never had a good SFxT online match on PS3, but AE is fine for me on both PS3 and PC, and SG is almost flawless. I don’t recall having any major problems with what little I played of UMvC3 and MK9 on PS3, either.
SFxT’s online ran so poorly that I gave up on it for a year.
