How can anyone play SHMUPs with a stick?

Someone should start a shmup thread. And yeah that game does look a harder. At least Mushihimesama makes most of the bullets purple so you have some idea of what to go through.

My guess is that the OP was born in the Mid to Later '90s and has never played a SCHMUP in an actual arcade.

You’re right about the arcade, but I was born in 88. I’ve only in the past few years played shmups, that all had analog, so I kinda assumed they all had that

Just realized I had a complete Brain Douche, I meant to say I use my TE for MAME stuff on 4 way. LOL @ Ikaruga on 4-way, Yikes :frowning:

I never really minded a JLF on Shmups, but it’s all I’ve really used.

I used to be the same, but since I picked up some LS-32s, there’s no going back. JLFs feel waaaaaaaaay too loose in a shmup for my tastes now…

Hey, that´s a good idea

There already is an active one.

wow, I never knew about the focus system. Is that very common?

I know that games such as Raiden simply have your fighter move slow the whole time to give you more precision, but variable speed sounds like an awesome compromise.

I have an ls-33. The short throw, 4-way gate (adjustable to 2-way or 8-way) plus the very loose spring make it feel very nice for Shmups. After EVO i’m going to have to revisit a few lost games…

Battle Garegga on the Saturn actually supports analogue using the Saturn’s ‘3d’ controller, and I must say it works rather well in this case. Normally I would have no use for analogue in a shmup though, of course.
