How Bad Are You?

There’s only like one SNK game where you’re going 3 on 1 against the boss. There’s a ton of cheap SNK bosses for 1 player games. They’re all killed the same way though. Either try to somehow outwit the impossible to outwit AI or the better method being to use some cheap move/attack pattern it’s not programmed to defend against until it dies.

These are 2 of the harder SNK bosses that aren’t from 3 on 3 games. The first video with Mizuki from SS2 is considered one of if not the hardest SNK boss of all time.

Geese is pretty hard too but as you can see just like any SNK boss you just find something it can’t adapt to and just run the shit out of it. If you let up on the pressure or give the CPU some room…of course shit happens.

Well, when most people talk about SNK boss syndrome, they’re talking about Rugal, or Goenitz, or Magaki, or Igniz.

Not a whole lot of people use it in reference to Kouryu or Kain or Amakusa, although I do admit Geese from the original Fatal Fury was awful. Must have gotten kicked off of that skyscraper 50 times.

I tried doing the Parry Trials - got all of them except Parry 6 (Dudley’s Super 1) and Parry 10 (Evo Moment). Anyone know when you start to parry Dudley’s Super? Before or after the flash? I gave up because I couldn’t even figure out when I was suppose to start the parry off.

Before for Dudley is a must.

Before or after for Chun. Easier if immediately before.

Just try to recognice the last crouch Dudley does before the super and use that as your cue to tap forward and parry. It’s a 1 frame start up super IIRC so you have to do it before the flash.

Well, despite how well I was doing last night, tonight has been nothing but embarrassing loss after embarrassing loss.

After more than a decade of playing with Elena, it’s time to do what I should have done as soon as Third Strike came out.

It’s time to join the Yun army.

Edit: Nevermind - now I can’t even do the most basic of basic shit. I guess it’s really time to go back to Marvel.

I respect that decision. You’ll be getting more damage for your buck instead of having to play the poke/overhead game for years.

I had to shake the rust off…

Finally got used to the change in speed between this and PS2 version…

Now I’m just like Charlie Sheen with Twelve…

Of course, I still can’t beat the advanced players though, but I can finally hold my own against good players…

I swear those air dashes are giving me carpal tunnel syndrome like whoa… like seriously, after fucking around online and in training mode, my wrist started killing me…

I like Twelve and plenty good with him, but damn… it might be time for another character…

I can’t wait forever for the stupid ranked matches anymore.
Anyone other beginners want to do player matches in the NW? I play ken.

And a couple of questions
Super jumps, everyone has em? Any benefits besides diff trajectory?
cr mk -> hadouken -> SAIII, does the hadou have to hit/dissipate for the SAIII to activate?

If there’s any benefit to my time with Blazblue, it’s that I can airdash as low as I want with Twelve. lol.

I’m definitely keeping him in the wings for player matches. lol.

Some characters can super jump cancel moves into others, so you can hit with a normal that only allows Super Jump cancel, and before you leave the ground, input the motion for your move or whatever.

Cr.MK xx Hado xx SAIII. It’s double cancelled. You don’t have to wait for it to do anything, but if the Cr.MK is blocked, use the Hado as a sort of blockstring and practice watching to see if the Cr.MK hits. That’s all that matters. It’s basically Cr.MK QCF+Punch QCF+Button*

*I can’t remember if SAIII is Kick or Punch.

How bad am I? psssh…

Comboing a basic SA BnB is about the difficulty of performing a max rep ROM for Magneto. Havent even beat Arcade mode yet on the default difficulty. So I have to stick to basic SF2 Champion Edition day1 combos because SA just gets me punished… Super cancels dont work for me even though I can do the same motions on Dante just fine in MvC… I dont want to crap up my record in ranked so I play in lobbys where I get stomped by everyone and then have to wait 10 mins for the next match.

Yeah… I’m awesome

Edit: Finally beat arcade mode just now. After 17 continues. Still suck at comboing SA (it’s pure luck). Beating the last boss was a pretty epic battle though: went 1/1 and the last round I was way ahead but the bastard had his super revive ready. Stalled with footsies as much as I could, and with 1 hit left in my life bar, he tried a super slightly out of my range, dashed in and luckily parried by mistake and landed a short before his super finished me (even blocked I would have been done). Makes me wish single player had replays =)

Assuming you’re on a stick, I find the easiest method to air dash to the left to be using my thumb to push up-back, back, and to the right I use my thumb to press up-towards, and palm right. I can do that all day, no wrist pain after

I only taunt for the cheevos.

So annoying. I keep doing shizz that I keep telling myself that I shouldn’t be doing against players that I know I shouldn’t be having that much trouble against.

I really need to stop getting tempted to try to just chip them out with SA2.

I’m this bad…

I’m so bad that my score on ranked is 0 - 0. I haven’t been able to find ranked matches for some reasons :|… *
Regardless, I’ve been winning a lot on player matches because Ryu hits like a truck & people can’t parry hadouken spamming nor tech grabs.

Question. Which one of you is this Ryu? ( ̄へ ̄)

I started playing competitively with SF4, so this is my first chance to learn 3SO. I’m currently maining Gouki just because I’ve always liked the character. My current record in ranked is 9-7. Haven’t had much playtime, so I’ve been trying to learn as much as I can about my wins and losses in order to try and get better.

Here’s a few things I’ve noticed…

  • I find myself playing a more defensive style. Fireball pressure from far away, trying to SRK when someone jumps in too close. This sucks because I find myself in the corner a lot of the time. So, I’ll try and throw them into the corner, but I end up getting overwhelmed and overpowered. Mash, die, horrible loss, etc. I’ve read the forums about Gouki being heavy rushdown/mix-ups/offense, so I should probably try and be more aggressive.

  • I always pick SA1 out of habit, but it’s been working. I like to bust it out in the air if I can catch an opponent on the way up, and it seems to work. Though, there are many times when I waste it because I’m not making sure prior attacks hit and aren’t getting blocked. Like Demon flip to SRK xx SA1. If it hits, I’m golden. If it gets blocked, I have to backdash out of the way. Waste of meter. I know I’ll face someone better who will punish that, and the backdash may not be able to get me out of danger.

  • Punish better. Typical punish after a whiffed move is a throw because it’s easy. Yeah, it works, but if I’ve got meter, why not combo for bigger damage instead? I need to practice Inflicting more damage than what a throw can do. Ive already lost a few matches where a bigger punish would have been the difference.

Just a few examples of things I need to work on. I know I suck right now, but I like the idea of winning matches a lot better than mashing buttons and hoping the other guy messes up and falls into my poorly designed trap Of random shit.

you wanna know how bad I am?

I’m not really losing much…

But I’ve learned almost nothing since the game came out. :frowning:

Dont get used to DPing jump ins. Against bad opponents it’ll work but a good player can easily parry it and land a full combo on you

I fucking suck, I couldn’t even beat arcade mode so I just bought Gill and the dipswitches to save me the trouble. Think I’ll probably just stick with AE, you guys enjoy your game.
