This was me just last week after losing 5 in row.
when i lose i often laugh at myself for not teching or blocking random ultras
but i could rage sometimes about these french ken player who only jump tatsu land shoryuken + taunt over and over and over i only lost 1 time to a ken like this but still it’s just stupid
and online gief/hawks are always funny to watch
The only time I get pissed is when I join a game, it appears to be a green connection, I hit ready, the game starts, no way in hell this is a Green connection, when I demon flip dive kick, I press a kick button and it doesn’t register so the sweep comes out instead, I just lost to a Ryu with 300PP, and I lose 114PP as well.
Good system they’ve got with this Street Fighter.
depends, when i lose in a cool match i laugh, but when i’m pwning and lose to a ryu that only does jumping HK and sweep, i get mad because when i block that shit and try do to something having in mind that he will try to block because his sweep failed, NO, HE STARTS TO MASH DP
normally i start to play with him and continous spam jumping hk and sweep, but it’s already too late.
I’d have to say I’m with the consensus. Against a good player (or my level) I’m grateful for the match and review the replay and try to learn from it. Lag or other factors outside of my influence I’m very zen about, such is online life, it happens.
The only fights that cause me to rage are when I lose to 1-move wonders or scrub shotos random DPing and ultraing because I’m not up to my game and keep doing execution errors, missing combos and failing at blocking. But I know there isn’t really anything to be angry about except myself, so I either swear up a hurricane or go kick at a punching bag for a minute and return, and try to do better.
Sometimes if it’s something very basic I failed, I tell myself to do “20 push-up”: Practice the move in training mode till I do it 20 times straight without errors, then I can return to the fights and hope I improved what caused the loss.
Brilliant, I’m totally stealing this. Thanks.
Either I’m going to get into much better shape, or I’m going to get much better at street fighter!!
edit: as for the OP, if I lose, I drink until I’m happy again… my liver hates street fighter…
I get really angry when losing to gimmicky characters (most notable: El Fuerte).
I only get angry when I know I should have won, or had the tools to win. If I get rocked or I was just totally ignorant of the matchup I don’t get angry.
LOL I could just picture, mentally, someone going “HULKKKKKKKK SMMMMMAAAAAASHHHHHHHH” and they break something they really didn’t mean to break lolol
I get frustrated when i get input losses and such. Its those kinda matches i know i coulda won had i been playing the player in person. Sometimes if im really upset about a match ill save the replay and check his input. if i see alot of :df: + fierce motions on the input display coming from them then i know they just mashed out a scrubby shortcut DP. Also ive found MANY people using turbo buttons which is kinda funny. Its like id jump in for a combo and theyd block the first hit, then youd see nothing but LP +LK flooding the input display and i get grabbed haha.
Most of the time though i deserve the loss, cuz i fuckin suck.
I have a problem blaming my mistake for the loss. Its not making excuses. Its just that I always feel there is a reason to the thing I did wrong. Its like thinking ahead and always knowing why I reacted that way to a move which resulted in my loss.
I consider my self a person who adapts to the opponents style. If however I see a player who plays randomly it really makes me fume. Add some lag into the whole equation and the random factor increases.
However when the time comes where I feel my opponent totally outsmarted me and out played me. I offer a friend request, and I become rather satisfied.
This is my basic mindset as well. I always think back and try to notice the meatier hits and combos I took, and why I took them. I try to isolate the mindset I was in while thinking about that incorrect maneuver and deduce why I did that at that time. If I realize it’s something that could be avoided in the future, I attempt to do just that, if it’s a situation where the opposition just saw right through my moves and outplayed me then I try to find out HOW they did that and why they were able to.
I am also not a fan of random scrubs jumping around amidst the underwater online simulation that is Super Street Fighter IV, and that’s what usually makes me the most angry.
Unblockable attacks…like grabs? Ultra Combos such as Wrath of the Raging Demon and Breathless?
Well if its really happening online i guess he could mean the unblockable ultra glitch…although i doubt it
Unblockable Ultra glitch. A.K.A. bad lag.
I do get thrown an absurd amount of times, even while I’m pressing the grab button as well. It just doesn’t tech much online as it does offline, for some reason. Sometimes I’ll have those matches where it’s perfect, and those others that make me feel like I’m pressing the wrong button.
I don’t get as mad as I used to. Maybe I found what I was looking for in this game, and I’m enjoying every moment of it. Sure, I get pissed after losing 10 in a row, but who wouldn’t? It’s how you interpret that loss that makes you a better player.
This, although that’s not to say I don’t get really annoyed sometimes, especially if it was some two round fight where the guy that won left right after his win and he won due to shenannigans that wouldn’t work a second time.
It’s kind of funny though when you catagorize players as either “scrubby” or “not scrubby” where there’s this unwritten rule that only real players play non scrubby, so if you lose to silly stuff, you can just blame it on the fact that the other guy sucked and didn’t “use the right rules” or some crap. Maybe a lot of what they did was completely unsafe, reckless, seemingly random and wouldn’t work after a rematch or two but the fact is we all can lose to these “tactics” every now and then. So are you supposed to go in assuming everyone sucks, everyone is good or use the first round to decide? If it’s set to two out of three that doesn’t give you much of a window compared to three out of five. Playing online compared to offline and tech throws is probably one of the most infuriating things though, it doesn’t matter what caliber of player you are if you can’t tech something you know you’re perfectly capable of doing. It makes it feel like the old tick throw from the earlier games, but they aren’t supposed to be able to work in the SF4 engine.
I also don’t think I do ranked matches enough. I never really cared, but it must be extremely easy to hit 5k as a minimum starting point. There are many videos of players at 5+ plus who are truly awful.
I get extremely angry even if I win.
Knute Rockne doesn’t sound like my kind of guy.
Anyway, it really depends. I was fuming the other day, but it was because I’d been up for just over twenty four hours (I’m significantly more irritable when tired) trying to learn my new stick and Cody at the same time. I lost several times to people I could have beaten in really stupid ways, or simply failing my moves several times in a row.
Usually though, I don’t really mind. Tiredness is usually the cause if I generally get annoyed.
