well I didn’t this abrupt change but if the person really wanted to leave then I guess there’s not much you can do. I’m willing to go along with it for now, I could see how this sudden change could really shake things up relationship dynamic and House questioning his abilities wise. Also no matter what happens it will never be as bad as the Tritter arc. If we can make it through that and still love the show then you can make it through anything. Yes we can! :woot:

??? That arc was awesome.
I didn’t mind it, but I see where he’s coming from. As long as Cuddy gets a hair cut, this season will pan out just fine.
Cuddy and 13 need to get back to their old styles. They look like an alien and a fucking man, respectively. Before? Class, and ass.
For what it’s worth, it was the actor that plays Cuddy who played a transvestite on an Ally McBeal episode before acting on House, and she… did such a good acting job?.. that in the back of my mind ever since, on any show/movie she’s in, she was always a little strange.
Crazy episode
I’m a little late but OH BOY! I only missed house for a couple of weeks and my fav dude is gone?!
eh the tritter arc was terrible bcuz it really pushed the suspension of disbelief too far imo, although it was kinda worth it bcuz we got to see psycho, strung-out house which is always a plus.
How did it push the suspension of disbelief more than normal? I don’t remember?
well at least imo…
-wilson is loaded with money and works for princeton, no way in hell some random ass cop is gonna ruin his shit so bad by having his accounts frozen/DEA number seized/etc… and his high priced lawyer is just gonna shrug his shoulders like he did.
-fine let’s ignore the above, if you’re wilson are you really going to rat house out to tritter at the 11th hour right after all of your accounts are unfrozen and you essentially have your life back?
-tritter escaping the whole thing with no reprecussions is/was still beyond me. no way in hell a cop gets away with fucking with a rich ass cripple doctor that works for princeton…oh who also happens to be super vindictive house without getting his shit ruined. i’ve always felt that one of the cornerstones of the series was that you can’t get over on house, yet that’s pretty much what tritter did.
idk i’m probably biased bcuz i don’t really like wilson and i don’t like cops, but i definitely wasn’t feeling that part of season 3 at all. i’m still holding out hope that house manages to fuck tritter over once and for all but i doubt it’s gonna happen 2+ seasons later =/
here’s a fake trailer thing but the footage was taken from that Ally McBeal transvestite episode:

she luuuk like a man
FUCK SPOLIERS…not srk but EVERY FUCKIN WHERE ELSE…damn it:bluu:
Word, my wife and I were trying to hold out but every news source ruined it:lame:
Looking back, the end of the third season would have been a terrific farewell for the series. As intriguing as some of the stuff in season four was (particularly the House’s Head/Wilson’s Heart cycle), it really just felt like the series was on life support.
My viewership petered out quickly in season five, but I did tune in to see the Really Big Thing that happened Monday. My problem isn’t with the formula. The plots of House are unshakably formulaic, but it’s the characters, not the plots, who make the show interesting. My problem is that the new characters still aren’t as interesting as the old ones, and the old ones have been stretched far too thinly. For example, there are only so many ways you can reiterate that House is obsessed with problem solving, and eventually you’re going to resort to ways that are so outlandish that they stop making him look obsessed and start making him look stupid. Giving the gun back to the hostage taker comes to mind.
Even so, Monday’s twist was just the right kind of audacious. I hope against hope that they won’t just drop this plot thread like a hot potato, as House sometimes does.
Offhand, 3 in this season:
- Foreman medical license issue was sort of brushed over (I guess it’s plausible? Thought it’d be interesting if he had to quit and we saw his life in other ways tho) and this ties to…
- …Huntingtons. She stopped taking the meds and was all better ? Did they acknowledge this or not? Did I miss something?
- ROMAAAAAAAAAANCE. They keep bringing this up then not relating to it the rest of the ep.
That said, this season has got some eps I really like. My fave so far is the one last week, with the Locked In Syndrome dude.
Season 4 and 5 are great. This is one of the few seasons that you can actually go back and the first 2 seasons aren’t dated, in fact they are probably the best still.
Love this show.
I hate how people knock “formula”. The best shows ever all have a formula that works in that there is a bigger overall story going, great characters yet even if you never saw an episode, you could watch one from beginning to end and be completely entertained by the story. Can’t think of a great TV series that didn’t have a formula to some extent.
Hell by that logic, every movie ever made has the same formula.
Huntingtons is a degenerative disease. She was only showing early signs when Foreman switched her meds. They took her off it’s not like shes cured but I’m sure this is going to be saved for later down the road, like the House movie when House comes up with a cure for the disease (joking, but would be funny).
As for Romance, yeah no doubt that is being saved for later too. If Monday is essentially part one of the season finale, then I’d guess that ROOOMANNNNCE won’t really happen until a Season 6 or Movie. It’s not like they forgot what happened (cause as you say it is brought up in episodes, like the Mos Def ep).
Also, I read that Chase and Cameron are going to be brought back into the front.
Seriously.
And fuck, watching previous episodes never get old. You can just randomly watch something from season 1 and it’s still good.
Most movies are formulaic to a degree, but the degree to which House is formulaic is much greater.
In movies, you can be safe in predicting certain events by the clock, in a very generalized sense. Something will happen within the first half hour that will force the hero(es) to commit to the problem/conflict/whatever. Something will happen within the final half hour to bring the conflict to a head. Things will progressively complicate themselves during the time in between.
With House, you can predict things to a much greater degree of accuracy, both in terms of what happens and when. It’s formulaic enough that people have to call it out for it. You can guess when House will gainsay everyone’s best guess and order them off for some legwork within a matter of minutes either way. You can guess when the patient will react badly to the first treatment. You can guess when House will get his big epiphany. And so on.
But, as I said, House is about characters, rather than plot, and that’s why it’s been losing me lately.
I have to agree with good here - the reason I didn’t watch house for a while is because it was overly formulaic. It took me falling in love with House’s character to really get into the show. Now there are episodes that are very well made (the three cases ep from season 1), but for the most part, they follow along the same tracks. This isn’t to say I don’t enjoy the show, but even House has been getting on my nerves lately. It seems like nothing really gets to him…even the most recent incident. His “puzzle” obsession is getting kind of played out.
I’ll still watch the show to make fun of 13’s GIANT head…
truth. i keep watching stuff from USA everyday.
Honestly, I used to LOVED this show. As silly, outlandish, and “formulaic” it was, it was damn entertaining…
It all ended for me when House gave that guy the gun back. He might as well have donned a leather jacket, strapped on some water skis, and hunted for a shark to jump over.
I mean, the show House requires you to suspend your belief in reality as it is, but THAT scene was just completely downright INSULTING to the audience. It was like all the writers got together and screamed in your face:
“Fuck you, he loves puzzles. HE REALLY FUCKING LOVES PUZZLES. HE’S COO COO FOR PUZZLE PUFFS!”
Now the show is blah. I mean I’ll watch if I happen to be home, but it’s pretty much “that-show-that’s-on-before-24” now.
