hey guys, i just moved to the wilmington/greenville area in delaware from miami and was kinda hoping to get some offline matches in seeing as how the nearest arcade is in philly.
im down for some xbox live matches also but i would like to get the hell out of my house and meet some community members who also play ssf4. if youre near the area feel free to hit me up either here, or through xbox live gt: JulioRancho
Really gotta do some leveling up with my spacing. I think that was ultimately what was fucking me. I’m considering switching but I"m giving Rufus at least another month before that. I was playing like an idiot last Friday.
GG everyone last friday. i’ve been putting in some practice with my ibuki so expect to see more of her this week. @Effay at least you didn’t lose 39-0 to the asian looking guy that i still can’t remember his name lol. my goal right now is to beat him and that blanka. OH and i might be going to Xanadu this wednesday.
Hey, I live in Wilmington and have been really into SFIV since it was released (was big into Third Strike and Alpha3 years ago). Is anyone from Delaware going to that big Philly tournament in December?
My XBox recently red-ringed, but I main Abel under the tag Robbumon, so in a few weeks or so I’d be stoked for some local matches
Hey dude, I’ve got to get together with you and learn that Balrog match up. I felt like I did better against Rog overall, (especially considering I was using new characters) but your Balrog is really solid and anything you could point out would be helpful.
I can give you some tips for the Cammy matchup that I noticed. You kept getting hit with my dive kick shenanigans, you should be doing an OS crouch tech with c.MP. To as your tapping to tech tick throws just do downback+LP+LK+MP. That way if I throw you’ll tech and if I instant dive kick you’ll smack me with fatty hands. Other than that your spacing observation is a sound one, also some patience. Rufus is a very offensive character, but you can’t really create offense when there is no opening to start one. This is especially true in the Bison matchup. Bison has all the tools to keep Rufus out and stop the dive kick pressure. Magneto_X used to run over me with Rufus by waiting for that one chance to get in and they apply a really solid dive kick / tick throw mixup game. Oh, and never EX Messiah against Bison when he has ultra unless your certain it will hit. He can punish all follow ups with ultra including a FADCed LK follow up.
It’s really hard to practice spacing overall, it takes a lot of time to develop good habits based on your distance from your opponent, especially when you may have made some bad habits already. This is something I’ve struggled with a lot and continue to try to force myself to break some bad habits.
One last thing to think of as an offensive character is your game plan. When I was learning Cammy I made a dive kick flow chart to show me all the possibilities after a dive kick whether it be blocked or hit and how high or low it hit. Here it is if you want to have a look so you can understand what’s going through my mind when I come at you with dive kicks.
I’m terrible at giving advice, but i think one thing that you could’ve done better is the footsie game. I felt like i could pretty much just press any normal and not get counter poked. Find some of the holes in my strings and find some great counter-pokes with the character you’re using.
Thats awesome man, its really cool if some of you guys make it down here, I’ll hook it up with some free pizza or beer. And if you guys are cool with it sometime soon me and some of our players would be down to head up your way and get some casuals in, we are all heading to NEC next month and love the practice. We also try to get to all the Xanadu Monthlies we can.
Thats really exciting if you guys end up being able to come down to this. I’ve been talking to the guys running the tournament and am still trying to get details from them on payouts and stuff like that and I’ll post all that information up on here as soon as I hear anything. I’m also drumming up support from all the players around here that I can, I’m hoping to get at least 10 - 15 people from Salisbury to come out to this and would love if the tournament could get 20 participants.
