Finished all of the quests within The Frozen Wilds last night. Taking out the Fireclaws in that quest strategically was fun. The enemy that I hated throughout the new experience was the Scorcher. Damn thing has a rocket pack.
I hit level 58 and never did New Game+. Is there any real benefit to doing so (besides the challenge)?
Thanks. I have been debating if I want to go back through the entire game again. I scored Final Fantasy XV this weekend for $5 and want to make good use of my time
As some one that likes FFXV despite it’s flaws, I suggest waiting til the end of the year before you start playing. There’s a pretty big update coming that allows you to switch control to any main party member which could be a pretty big deal for how you experience combat depending on how they implement it.
Speaking of combat. I’m glad that they found ways in The Frozen Wilds to neuter your bad-assery yet still not make it feel like it was done to make things superficially more difficult. Personally, I found that I had to use Aloy’s tricks more frequently especially with the Scorchers.
Shield Weaver helps you tank those unexpected hits, especially from when you don’t notice other machines join in. Not necessary when you know how to properly dodge shit, but it covers those moments when you get caught off guard.
Er, the hype is just that it doubles your life basically and protects you from fall damage. It’s not really “hype” it’s just a strong all rounder armor
I don’t think it doubles youre life bar. I think it provides an extra 200 health max. I got hit by a low level watcher and it got knocked out instantly. The fall damage is nice but…that’s just being more careful then anything. Mmm, of all the talk I heard about it I was kinda let down.
Never unlocked it myself, my understanding is that it tanks 1 hit no matter the damage.
Edit: The Shield-Weaver is a very rare and very powerful outfit. The armor trades the ability to modify it for a highly durable, rechargeable force shield that absorbs all incoming damage, massively enhancing Aloy’s combat capabilities.
^^^From the Wiki so my understanding is that it tanks a full hit before popping.
What difficulty are you playing at? After the 1.20 patch, the overshield scales down depending on the difficulty. On hard, it gets a 40% reduction, in very hard, it goes up to 66.6%, and so on and so forth.
Ok, so I was partially right. If the shield isn’t a full strength the damage bleeds through. However if the shield is full then you can tank one hit. Regardless of damage. Hmmm interesting…didn’t think they would make it like that.
Interesting note…if the shield is gone and you’re hit while it’s recharging the shield is ignored and your health takes a hit. It also seems that on UH any hit (that I’ve seen) drains the shield in one go. But you can tank said hit regardless of strength. So probably on lower difficulties damage bleeds through when not fully charged I think…
The nerf was the damage reduction based on difficulty.
Prior to that, you’d get the full 225 point overshield even on ultra hard.
Also, I believe it used to be able to tank damage without any bleeding through regardless of how much it had. As in you could get hit with 400 damage, and it wouldn’t affect your main life bar at all.
