Horizon: Zero Dawn (Now Out!)

Not sure if I came across said attachments. Then again, I haven’t searched YT for the “op” builds. Probably won’t bother either. I have each weapon tailed for a specific thing.

I went to a loot spot near the beginning of the game and got sooo many purple mods cause they refresh after going to a camp fire. Kinda wish I didn’t cause I started on hard and wrecked it till t-Rex and the damn birds lmao.

Are the big take downs kind of like SotC but less difficult? Kind of the vibe I got from the videos.

Kinda, there’s 5 of them. Not nearly as big as SotC probably not as complex to take down either. BUT…still good. The big ones are I feel one of the funniest.

That’s what im trying to say in the other thread. shield weaver is way too strong. it messes up the balance of the game but i guess it was put there for that reason. i feel horizon is about moderate stealth and keeping your distance. s.w lets you c.o.d it

I actually think horizon is an easy game. I died a few times on ultra hard but most of the deaths were falls or something where i screwed up.

as for strategy, you cant go in too hard. once you realize that, you become unstoppable.

ultra hard review:

Its not “ultra” hard. I’d say this is a good “very hard” mode. I couldn’t tell the difference between hard and very hard, but there’s a clear difference between hard/v.hard and u.hard. most people probably played it on normal, and i never played that mode but i feel like it would be too simple.

The aggressive nature of ultra hard machines benefits some machines better than others, rock breakers become hard to deal with. thunderjaws felt the same as they always were. stormbirds got a massive hp boost i swear i used most of my wire taking one down. One cool thing about ultra hard is that you’ll be fighting and more machines tend to come from behind you.

The toughest part about ultra hard is that the resource requirements are a bit harder to manage. everything is more expensive. so you’ll be grinding a bit more. also the ending section is a bit crazy.but its fun no doubt.

for new players id recommend playing on hard or very hard. ultra hards resource reqs is a bit steep and might annoy people.

Yeah, had/very hard is the way to go. I started off on hard.

the wonders of the war bow/sharpshot combo that im personally a fan of.

Hell no, one thing that makes games like this fun is becoming a force of reckoning.
By the time that you get at that level, you have earned it by playing strategically and meticullously good.
Outside the Shield Weaver which is an end game bonus, the game does a good job on maintaining a feel of being powerful while making it sure that if you make one or 2 mistakes you can be put on a bad position.

you did see how i avoided a boss fight by using override right?

Horizon was clearly meant to be more of a tactical/strategic game but you can cheese your way through the entire game no matter what difficulty you’re at

You can go balls out of your loaded correctly And aware of everything in the area. Only time a thunderjaw has killed me was when I was trying to be slick during trials. You really only need to oy attention of when to dodge and shoot, steath actions make everything simple.

Still wish melee had more to it. The spear is quite limited. Lemme use it as a javelin or something. Or pole vault to get more slow down in the air.

I kinda like that melee is weak. Personally, I prefer playing a ranged game. Keeping my distance, hitting hard and taking low risks is how I play most games.

With that being said, I was able to use the spear a lot especially for kills. Never felt like I was lacking anything. You shouldn’t be able to just run in on machines imo

I wouldn’t mind having the spear used for something else. Like maneuvering with it, or even throwing it. Lights attacks are virtually useless.

Before I jump back into this, I have one issue with Rockbreakers.

Sometimes they strike from underground without warning from the UI. This attack usually instakills me too. Is there something I’m missing?

I’m pretty sure there’s like a sound (or a lack of one) or some kind of tell. I don’t know what it was specifically but I died a few times and then got the hang of it. You kinda need to dodge at the last second.

When in doubt, mash it out.

I had that problem too though. That lack of tell is why I always went to higher ground or far, FAR away.

Hmmm, i need to check again because i thought that there is a tell, or at least i remember that there is one.

Is the tell a sound or something with the interface?

probably not. if i had to guess you just gotta pay attention to the rockbreaker itself

Not sure if this was added in a later update but I faced my first rockbreaker today and the icon flashes yellow and red right before he pops up.

I died a bunch because I couldn’t figure out the timing but I started to just jog and then when he got close enough to attack I sprint rolled and attacked before he went under.

22 hours into my first playthrough on hard and I love this game. Pre ordered the dlc already… GG made a masterpiece.

Hit level 50 and just found out what supposedly happened. Wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, which made it all the more satisfying.

I have spent so much time just running around hitting all of the side quests.
