Ok so I picked up MK9 about a week ago, and I’m getting good at it but the D-Pad on the xbox was driving me insane, so after some research I realized that a stick was the way to go.
Unfortunately I didn’t want to spend too much money on a stick just yet, and went ahead and pulled the trigger on the tekken 6 stick
For some reason the wireless capability wont sync to my xbox, I searched everywhere for a fix, and I cant return it as i already opened it…
So my question is can I somehow wire an xbox controller to the stick and make it work properly?
Keep in mind that I dont want to change the buttons or stick yet…I just wanna make the damn thing work on my xbox…
if it isnt working return it for another one, otherwise you’ll need a tri-wing screwdriver to open it up, rip out the stock pcb and padhack a 360 contorller in there.
There’s all kinds of info on the site about padhacking a 360 controller pcb. I don’t think you will find info specifically about doing that in this stick, but it should be just like using a hacked pad for a custom stick, and you’ll find plenty on that. Just use the search. I haven’t had any problem syncing my T6 and I don’t think I’ve seen anyone complaining about the 360 one, so you probably have a one-off problem. I don’t know where you bought it, but you should be able to return it. I like my t6, but if I were you, I’d get my money back if I couldn’t exchange it. You are getting into a big thing trying to replace the pcb and, though it would be fun to learn, the tools, controller and everything you will need will get costly. If you are serious about stick building/modding as a hobby, start reading tech talk starting with the stickies, get some tools and good luck. Otherwise, return it and put that money into a madcatz se if you can. You can find them on ebay or wait for the wwe brawlstick to go on sale. Replacing the art on that would be a lot easier and cheaper 1st dive into modding. I have bought buttons for my t6, but haven’t put them in b/c I need a soldering iron, dremel, wire, quick disconnects, crimper, tri-wing screwdriver, wire stripper, etc and some luck/skill. If I had a Madcatz, they would have been installed 15 minutes after I got them out of the mailbox. Tools needed: Screwdriver. Same goes for the stick itself. The T6 is pretty cool for $30, but the SE is a lot easier to do anything if you don’t have skills/tools. Hope my rambling is helpful.
If you bought it at a store, just take it back. On mine there wasn’t any kind of warranty sticker that was broken when I opened it. I don’t see how they would know you opened it, and I doubt the guy at the counter at BestBuy is going to even look. If you’ve been through all this and found out differently, sorry. Check the rest of the connections inside while you are at it. When in doubt, give it a gentle wiggle. I wouldn’t make such a statement generally without knowing specifically which connections you are doing that with, but it sounds like this thing isn’t getting any more useless.
I don’t know what the next bundle is or if there is one known right now.
Amazon, but anyway I think I will be getting the brawlstick sometime this week…they have a sale on bestbuy.com
Point me in the right direction for modding the brawlstick? For now just the art because im not really into wrestling, but later on i think ill probably get some buttons and a joystick, I cant stand convex buttons
All your standard 30mm sanwa and seimitsu buttons will fit. For concave, most of what you are looking at is Happ/il, which is a different size hole and I would imagine way too deep to fit in the SE. From your responses, seems like it’s time for you to get into this and start reading the stickies and searching. Remember the Brawlstick is the same as the madcatz SE that came branded for SF4 and there’s a metric butload of info on modding those on the forum. Read the stickies, do searches on things that don’t make sense. It is a lot faster than asking the noob questions and will make people more likely to help when you have legit hard questions. I’m still a noob myself, but just poking around for a while and reading tutorials made it where I know a lot of stuff I otherwize would have no exposure to. Have fun and good luck!
Oh, and if you in fact can’t return the T6, save it. Padhacking it now is probably too big a project, but after you’ve been reading up for a few months and modded the Brawlstick, your gonna want at least the case and maybe the stick from the T6 for custom-fodder. Not the buttons, though. Those are crap.
Does the controller power on when you hold down the guide button?
If it does, that’s a good start. Once powered on you can press the sync button on the controller and the lights should rotate. Are you able to get at least that? If the controller does not power up at all that may mean the pcb is dead but if it is brand new I doubt that is the problem.
Try fresh batteries. I noticed the stick seems to need more juice to work then a 360 wireless controller because the same batteries that will not power up the stick will work in the official 360 controller with no problems.
Also, since you got the stick open does the pcb and wires look intact? Could be a loss connection to the power or sync button.
From my experience with the T6 stick, sometimes it just gets stuck and won’t connect to anything, until I remove and then replace the batteries to reset it. After that it works fine.
