Hori Real Arcade VF vs. Cosmo X-fighting

I’m looking for a comercialy produced stick to mod, and these two are inexpensive and look pretty good.

Looks the same as those hori SC2 & T4 sticks except that it only has 3 buttons. I can’t tell from the angle of the picture if it’s the regular hori button layout just missing three or if the top pink button is a little further up. If the layout is the same i would just drill out holes for the rest of the buttons, otherwise I would have to some how try to fill in the top hole a bit and then drill it when the material dried. So i was wondering if anyone has seen one and happens to know if the button layout is different. Or if any one has any advise on what to do about filling the extra empty space the top hole would have.

This one has gotten plenty of good reviews, I’m wondering though how easy it is to mod and if those buttons are good and usable along with the stick too. Reviews say it’s a little tight, but I play on a seimitsu so i’d prolly wouldn’t mind that anyway.

I’m pretty much trying to figure out if the price difference is worth the effort if I’m going to have to do some drilling and filling on the hori. I really like that hori case, but if it has a funked up button layout that won’t do.

I’m not sure about the VF as I have never owned one but the X-Fighting Stick is a OK budget stick. The buttons are smaller than normal JPN buttons so you’ll need to make the holes larger. And the stock buttons/stick REALLY suck. They are stiff, and very unresponsive. Getting a new stick on it is a bit tricky too. It’s not as easy to mod as say the HRAP. The button config is kinda wonky for SF, but I use mine for a Neo-Geo stick so I’m fine.

If you search around some people have done really nice mods. Search for “Saturn Stick Mod”.

it’s not a good idea to believe play-asia reviews for sticks. XD

both sticks aren’t easy to mod.

i have the Hori VF one, and i bet the PS2 VF Evo sticks will be easier to mod. the button layout of the Hori VF is exactly the same as the T4 and SC2 horis though.
