Hori Real Arcade PRO V3 "SA" Thread - (Available Now! Check OP!)

I tried this sucker out at E3 and it feels great. Get it if you dont already have TE!

here’s a dual mod i did for a friend. no drilling, no soldering was done to the case and stock parts. stock pcb was replaced with paewang, ran new wiring. existing home and select buttons work. select button is also turbo button.

if he ever decides to sell the stick, he can easily put back the stock pcb and keep the paewang.

I am definitely looking towards getting a V3 SA when it gets an official US release.

I’m hoping it’s the original black case version with the red striping!

I’ll probably change the buttons out for a combo of black-rimmed reds and whites… Not crazy about Hori sticking to all-white buttons for its SA line stick!

I’m kind of interested in one of these but I just don’t know about the weight.

It is on the lighter side, but there’s no reason you couldn’t put some weights in the case.

Hopefully September and $130 are true. I’m ready to dump some money on new buttons and a mesh ball top!

Ever since my TE PCB took a dump on my chest and I had to implant SE guts in it I just don’t love it as much anymore haha.

Whats the purpose of this mod pcb replacing? so it works on another platform, X360?

Is it possible to make it X360 compatible? I just doesnt like the “Pro.VX SA” design.

The Paewang PCB is the only PCB right now that does both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on one PCB.

More in the arcade stick thread.

Awesome mods people. I got my HRAP V3 SA recently and I was wondering where I can purchase a bat top for it online somewhere? Thanks!

They all universally work right? I don’t need any specific specs?

Don’t forget to buy the adapter

Any more news on the U.S. release date for this thing? Last I heard was September 2010.

I wonder if Hori will be able to divert any to the US when their next shipment in Japan isn’t until November for the V3 and December for the VX!

I wonder about the release date, too, NRX.

I have not seen a pre-order sign-up for the HRAP V3 SA US release ANYWHERE.

NONE of the usual suspects (Play-Asia, Amazon.com, ArcadeShock, etc.) have a pre-order listing for the V3 SA stick.

I suspect it’ll end up being a US reprint/new run of the original “red ring” Japanese version. Just like the HRAP 3 SA (which is long out-of-print now), it’ll be a US duplicate of the Japanese original. No difference besides a US sticker tag on the metal baseplate!

I’m thinking November/early December for the US release of the HRAP V3 SA at this point, too… We’re practically out of August and there’s been no peep about the release. There is a lead time for pre-orders and we’re probably past it if Hori wants to officially release the stick in the US in September. I don’t see it happening now…

And I DO want an HRAP V3 SA as well… I don’t want to pay e-Bay prices for it if waiting a few months will save me at least $100!

BTW, I normally don’t like pastel-colored joysticks, but that 360 Pro VX SA picture you put up looks very nice!

The art works well with the color-rimmed white buttons!

I just got an email from Play-Asia.com stating the V3 is back in stock, but it looks like they only have 2.

It’s back in stock. There are more than two. Enjoy!

I recently emailed Hori about release date for the V3 SA. From what they told me, it should be available in the US late September/early October. They didn’t answer my question about pre-ordering, but they say I would receive advanced notification when it’s finally available.

I’m waiting for the official US release.

It’ll be at least $20 cheaper to start off… On top of that, probably another $45 saved on shipping!

It costs around $40 minimum to get air shipping on a joystick; $60 is more likely for air shipping.

Unless it’s a really limited edition stick (HRAP SE’s anyone?) it’s generally not worth it unless you’re a rabid collector.

At this point in time, I wouldn’t even bother with the HRAP SE. You can get the same stick for about the same money you’d pay for the exclusive by swapping out the Sanwa parts for Seimitsu in the HRAP SA cases.

BTW, lockon’s HRAP V3 SA mod look nice. Very good choice of color replacements!

(And if nobody else minds, I’ll steal that color arrangement when I get my V3 SA!)

One thing I don’t like about most sticks on the market is that every darn manufacturer goes with default white ball handles and white OBSF-30’s!

I like more variety and color in sticks.

P.S. – Anybody know if Hori is discontinuing the Astrocade style HRAP cases? Would seem to make sense to make the changeover official now that most people seem to be in love with the rectangular/Viewlix style cases…
