Hori Real Arcade Pro Thread for all versions (IN PROGRESS, COULD USE YOUR HELP AND INPUT) v2

This post is in progress and will forever need updating.

NOT ALL INFO IS 100% CORRECT! SO IF YOU ARE USING THE DESCRIPTIONS TO MAKE PURCHASES, PLEASE DO ADDITIONAL RESEARCH. A LOT OF THE INFORMATION BELOW IS COPY/PASTE.

IF YOU ARE ABLE TO HELP PROVIDE INFORMATION, PHOTOS, DETAILS, OR PERHAPS EVEN HELP DO RESEARCH USING THE LINKS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS FIRST POST IN SPOILER TAGS AND REPORT BACK, IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

It’s taken me a lot of time to gather this information up so far, put it in a neat format, find photos and resize etc. If you can volunteer to help for the good of all arcade stick lovers and SRK TT, please do.

First off, I’ve gotta shout out @Superking for the original post back in July 2005 and for the work he did in keeping track of info and data on the Hori RAP sticks at least up until the middle of the PS2 gen and some of the PS3/360 gen.
Below you’ll see the info he organized reworked in a new format with more info and photos.

Original thread (39 pages of topic from July 2005 to mostly April 2012)

Shoutouts to those who’ve helped provide information on this updated list that deserve credit for their contributions:

@hibachifinal @VirtualCosmic @Darksakul @NENDO @Digital- @quashpdarkman @N10248 @anzhar @Batsu @General_Awesomo

If you have general arcade stick questions, please ask in the “Absolute Question and Answer Thread v.3 (ASK YOUR QUESTIONS HERE!)” thread

If you desire information on other arcade sticks that are not listed here or want suggestions on what to buy, please visit the “What Stick/Controller Should I Buy? Read the Guide on Pg 1 Before Posting.” thread

There will be no tier list, and there will likely not be a “I SUGGEST YOU BUY ________ ARCADE STICK” info.

This is information for you to use to your advantage to make an independent decision based on what features you may or may not enjoy.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not come in to this thread and just ask “Which one should I buy?”.
Use knowledge below to grow, think, and learn.

How To

How to install a Seimitsu LS-32 joystick in HRAP v1 and v2 models:

When mounting an LS-32(-01) or LS-40(-01) to this stick, use the Seimitsu SS mounting plate. This will ensure the correct mounting height to the HRAP.

Required tools: Phillips screwdriver, Metric tap wrench (4M, 0.7mm pitch)
Suggested tools: Metric nut driver (to remove the fastening nuts/washers in the HRAP), Vampliers/Neji-saurus pliers (to remove some of the difficult stock mounted screws on the JLF, or in case the screws strip while being unscrewed.).

An example of a metric tap wrench:

http://i.imgur.com/zExjgs4.jpg

  1. Remove the rear panel of the HRAP body. Suggest using a metric nut driver to remove the fastening nuts and washers from the mounting screws once the back panel is removed.
  2. Once the fastening nuts/washers are removed, remove the mounting screws and gently lift the front panel from the HRAP body.
  3. The stock mounted JLF will be mounted as pictured:

http://i.imgur.com/H1hz5Eh.jpg

Remove the screws using a Phillips screw driver.
4. With the screws removed, use the tap wrench to “drill” the proper sized screw holes in the areas circled below:

http://i.imgur.com/rPeQVbB.jpg

  1. Place the SS plate atop the newly prepped screw holes and proceed to mount the LS-32/LS-40 stick.

White Amazon JP HRAP3 does have the same plate as the original HRAP3. Thus LS-32s and LS-40s are a no-go, but 56/58 models can be mounted. See the picture below:

Definitely the plate from the HRAP1 version 2 and regular HRAP3.

BELOW SPOILER TAG IS FOR INFORMATION THAT I HAVE NOT YET BEEN ABLE TO SORT THROUGH OR UTILIZE IN FINDING INFORMATION

[details=Spoiler]Modding the sticks:

Original and CFJ:

  • Replacing the stock buttons w/Sanwa pushbuttons: Simply open up the HRAP, remove the quick disconnects off the Hori buttons, pop the buttons out, then put in the Sanwa pushbuttons, hook up the quick disconnects to those and booyaa, you got yourself a HRAP fully equipped with Sanwas. Recommended buttons for this switcheroo are Snap-ins due to the Metal Panel, but Screw-ins should work too.

HRAP1 version 2:

  • Replacing the buttons is almost the same as the OG HRAP and CFJ HRAP, but the QDs are slightly harder to remove for some reason. So here is a diagram on how to remove them to avoid having sore hands (kudos to spoon for the diagram):

Can I still buy a Special Addition or Special Edition HRAP?

  • At this moment in time, your best bet would be either ebay or Yahoo Japan or any other auction site.

Can’t seem to track down an official Hori press release, but it looks like there’s going to be Silent version of the PS4/PS3 Real Arcade Pro.V

PlayAsia.com has a release date of 4/23/2015 for their preorders.

Even though I had that listed in the PS4/PS4 Retail Arcade Sticks List I didn’t have it listed here. Thanks for the heads up.

Can I suggest using spoilers in the OP? Makes the post much easier to traverse.

Re: Silent HRAP, any word on if they’re making one in the Kai configuration? I feel like that would be the ideal stick for me.

Lol

Will take your suggestion into consideration.

As for a Silent Kai version, we have no idea as they haven’t announced anything as such.
Making an existing Kai stick into a Silent isn’t that difficult though. With optical PCBs and silencer pads, you’d likely be able to do it for the same or a lesser cost than if Hori produced it and marked it up accordingly.
Check [THIS THREAD](HayabuSilent? Silentbusa? Hayabusa Optical Mod, ahoy! to see what joystick PCB options you have. No idea if Hori has released the optical PCB individually.

Thanks! Was looking up some different options a while back, but didn’t want to commit without doing all the necessary research. I’ll check that thread out.

@FrankCastleAZ: I saw your post in the other thread, and yes, they are labeled for the alternate layout. The sticker on the bottom says it’s an HX3-10, for reference.

Hey, @FrankCastleAZ. I can confirm that the HRAP3 SA uses hex screws for it’s top panel, not a bolt/washer/nut combo like in the original HRAP3. Meaning that this allows for easy access to the top panel. This can even be seen in the stock photo you provided for it. In fact, a lot of these sticks mention not-so-easy top panel access yet their pics show them having hex screws for their top panels.

Because I thought otherwise, I bought HRAP top loaders, thinking I would need them for my HRAP3 SA. But since they were cheap, and I don’t mind supporting Arthur, it’s not a big deal.

Resized/Edited photos at 500x500 and made sure correct system photo was listed under each console for the following sticks:
-Hori RAP N3 SA PS3
-Hori RAP DoA5 PS3
-Hori RAP MSGE VS
-Hori RAP MSGE VS FB
-Hori RAP SCV PS3
-Hori RAP TTT2 PS3
-Hori RAP SCV 360
-Hori RAP TTT2 360
-Hori RAP StockingMatsuri
-Hori RAP EX RS1
-Hori RAP DoA5 360

Still need to do XB1 sticks especially now that the HRAP V Kai for XB1/360 is being released

Noted to do in the future on post 2.

Done. Although I will likely edit a bit more and still list titles below the consoles.

Apologies for your purchase based on information I’ve gathered. A lot of what is listed is copy/pasta as sorting through the information is rough.
If you’re able to go through and make a list of the top panel access sticks so I can edit the posts it’d be greatly appreciated. If not, it’s something I have on the list on post 2 to get done eventually.

Hi I checked the SFIV edition, PCB is common ground and Joystick uses a 5-pin harness. I’ll try to provide pics when I am back home using my own computer

Didn’t know where to post this so I put it here & on the PS4 VLX thread:

Anyone have additional info on this new version?

http://www.play-asia.com/real-arcade-pro-v-premium-vlx-hayabusa-for-playstation4-playsta/13/709mi5

They’re pre-selling it for $235 plus shipping (only one option @ $59.90 to Texas). Trying to figure out why it’s much less than the original PS4 VLX ($300). Other than the different color themes on side & top panels, I can’t see any other differences. Would prefer to buy in the states to avoid overseas shipping cost. About to inquire with both Hori USA & Arcade Shock. I should’ve just bought 1 PS4 VLX originally instead of 2.

The new feature is that it uses the new Hayabusa buttons. Unfortunately, I don’t see a switch for XInput (PC), a feature that is in the new HRAP.V Hayabusa and HRAP.V Hayabusa Silent.

There’s no XInput in the ver.1 of the HRAP V Silent.

I know. I meant the new version of the HRAP.V Hayabusa Silent.
