Hori Real Arcade Pro.3 Premium VLX spare parts

Hello I am from Cyprus and English is my second language.

I own the PS3 version of this stick for 2 years now and I am very satisfied with my purchase. I use it to play SF4 and MK9 on PS3 and old Arcade games and Doujin shooters on PC.

I want to change the 8 buttons because they feel overused with the highest quality buttons compatible with my stick. Please recommend the right parts and a trust worthy online shop. Also, is it possible to remove the ball of the stick and replace it with something similar to the old Neo Geo sticks? The Neo Geo sticks felt more comfortable IMO.

Thank you.

Buttons are simple to remove, disconnect the wires and the buttons have tabs to be pressed in to pop them out.

Ball top is not hard at all, on the underside, the joystick shaft has a place for a flat head screw driver, place the blade of the screw driver here as you unscrew the ball top.

You could go anywhere for the buttons,

For the NEO GEO feel, are you speaking of the AES joystick that came with the AES console or the arcade cab?
AES joysticks used a smaller than normal ball top, Paradise arcade shop carry the smaller ball top,

@Darksakul‌
Thanks for the quick reply but aren’t there different button sizes? I want to order the right ones. Also, something that looks fancy could be of poor quality like my friend’s stick that has buttons that feel like you squeeze a plush toy when you press them.

The stick I want to be like the Neo Geo arcade but I want to keep the motherboard inside and just do the cosmetic change.

I found this website. Will these buttons fit with my VLX and is this person trustworthy?

@STB, Sanwa buttons are the type that come with the VLX, and they are regarded as top quality. For the main buttons, OBSF-30 or OBSC-30 would fit. (OBSF-24 or OBSC-24 for the start button.) The numbers correspond to the size measured in mm.

For the stick, perhaps you could try a Sanwa bat top. It’s easy to change that out. The part is LB-30 N.

Focus Attack, Arcade Shock, and Akihabarashop.jp are all trustworthy sites from which I have ordered.

Good luck!

Main buttons are 30mm like what @blueNINE‌ pointed out
Start and Select often 24mm

The exception would be with a hit box and all the buttons are 24mm except for your Up/jump button

The buttons you’re thinking of may be American style buttons, which are widely considered a downgrade from what your VLX has in it.

Why we bringing up american buttons for a Hori stick?

He keeps talking about Neo Geo arcade controls. If Croatia had American style cabinets, there’s a good change those are what he’s remembering.

Oh a Bat top, that was he was thinking about

Make sure you get the bat top adapter.

You might also want a stronger spring

Thanks everyone for your input. I ordered from Focus Attack:
8 Sanwa OBSC 30mm Translucent Push buttons - Clear color
1 Sanwa OBSC 24mm Translucent Start button - Clear color
Seimitsu LB-39 Bubble top Clear (I wanted the Bat top at first like Darksakul said but I changed my mind)

Also, what do you guys think of the Torii Fightstick?

I like the design of their blank cases.
