Hori is really the lead maker of home arcade sticks?

It’s made of plastic as well.

This guy is quite obviously a troll.

QD’s the wrong color? Seriously, if you are that anal retentive, buy a table saw, a drill, a sander and 2 hole saws/forstner bits and make your own damn stick.

That was pretty mature with that fake quote there. Nice place this is, where people get attacked for voicing a simple opinion on a product. Nice community here when people are allowed to just make fun of people.

No no, imitrex, i was just kidding hahaha

I never wrote that. He made it up.

You should’ve thought about people’s responses before you came on here acting like a troll.

Doh! Well my bad then. Seriously though, Arcade In A Box are amazing quality, and a lot more accessible than a lot of custom makers mainly due to his queue and it being his main business where as most custom makers do it only as side projects. Just be prepared fora 10 week wait if going with AIAB. If you want to do it all yourself though, you can’t go wrong with Norris either.

Voicing my opinion about an item I just purchased is trolling now? Wow. This coming from a guy with negative rep. I’ll just ignore everything you say I think.

Sounds like this guy just doesn’t like plasticky items in general. I am also slightly disappointed with my HRAP 3 because of abundant use of plastics (I bought it because of good reviews for it from here but I never seen it or tried it out before hand). Had I seen and played with my HRAP 3 before hand, I probably would have paid more to get a slimmer wood panel custom myself.

Things I like about HRAP 3:
Joystick is Sanwa
Top Panel is metal
Easily opened and Mod Friendly

Things I hate about HRAP 3:
Default Hori buttons are absolutely the worst, 1 button was sticky from day 1.
Too much use of Plastics
Too tall and bulky but serves no other purpose
Wiring to the buttons and sticks are loose and held together by scotch tape not well routed.
Cannot power on a PS3 even though it has a real Home button (I have to use my sixaxis to power on the PS3 then turn off the controller, what a pain every time).

I know the pre-orders are being fulfilled in April, but will they be releasing more so that people who didn’t pre-order could purchase it

Hori is definitely the top in the arcade stick market. They have pioneered the way and continue to innovate to this day. I hope their next revision of their arcade sticks will come out sooner than later.

Hopefully the release of some ‘other’ arcade sticks will pressure them to release some new designs.

Some places are still taking preorders.

But yeah, you arent getting them til April. Long wait, for me anyway.

I have a HRAP3 and I’m satisfied :wonder:. Sure the buttons are lacking but that’s a quick fix, I’ve never opened an arcade stick before and I had them replaced in a snap.

If you’re willing to spend upwards of two hundred than a custom would definitely be best. If you’re looking for a case that you can finish for yourself than go for a Norris case, their cases are superb. If you’re looking for a completely ready custom built to spec than check with the custom builders here on SRK, you’ll have to be patient as most have full queues and once your turn does come up it will take time in order to perfectly assemble the arcade stick.

I was very pleased with my HRAP3, my buttons didn’t move around like you say. Perhaps you have a defect?

Maybe, don’t know. Sold it anyway so its out of my hands as of tomorrow morning. Now I just need to find something else.

I just got a HARP-EX for the 360 and I really can’t make much sense of any of these complaints.

The stock buttons aren’t TERRIBLE, But I will be swapping them out for sanwas just for a certain color scheme.

Plastic scratching and all of that doesn’t bother me at all…Scratches will not change the way the stick plays.

Hahaha

while i will concede to the fact the Hori buttons are mediocre at best, lightweight with flimsy plastic it is not; sucks about the protective film though.

You know, I actually prefer the Hori buttons.

I have a custom all sanwa stick and a Tekken stick. I have modded the Tekken stick with a JLF and kept the hori buttons cause I was too lazy to desolder them from the board and resolder sanwa buttons in.

Over time, I’ve actually gotten to the point where I prefer the Hori buttons. Something about the extra resistance I guess. I like the feedback. But I am a heavy handed player so consider that too.
