^ Am I correct in assuming that you cannot change the square gate?
In your opinion how does it compare to a JLF? Or does it feel more like a MadCatz Brawlstick joystick?
The joystick shaft looks slightly longer than a JLF, though it could just be the pic angle - is this correct? If so then unless the Edge has a lower mounting bracket then the correct mounting height cannot be achieved.
The important part is the top half.
Both the Sanwa and HORI is same length.
The bottom half, HORI is slightly longer, that is why you see how it is in the compare picture.
Is why you see the HORI Mounting Plate clearly not same level with Sanwa Mounting Plate.
Deadzone seems same to JLF.
Engage seems same to JLF.
Throw seems same too?
I do not own instruments in a Physics Class to fully assess.
You do realize the HRAP VLX is sold out in the US and that the new blue VLX is a Japanese exclusive? You canāt get it from Japan unless you get it through a third-party dealer ā itās an Amazon-jp exclusive. Hori has already confirmed that joystick will NEVER be sold in the USā¦
Youāre dreaming if you think youāre going to be able to buy that joystick brand-new for $300. Try more like $400 minimumā¦ Youāll pay at least $70 above retail for it. Thatās not even including the $20-$30 you could expect a third-part service to chargeā¦ Thatās why $400 is more likely.
Even now, you canāt get an unused first-generation VLX without paying a premium. People have gotten first-generation VLXās for under $300 recently but only used.
jdm714,
Now that Iāve seen more of the Hori Fighting Edge, I think Iām inclined to skip over this one and get either another Soul Calibur V when I can get that on sale again OR buy a Mad Catz FightStick V.S. ASAP.
Iāve got the same issues with the LED, PCB, and replacement of broken parts as otter does. Iām sure this will be a great limited edition joystick but for those of us who would actually want to play with it, thereās too much that can be broken and be more difficult to replace than with a regular, non-LED, non-Hori parts joystickā¦
I donāt think Hori will ever show the internals publicly. As at this point it can compromise their business as well as there position as a company.
Only place where Hori would do so is with there required documentation for organizations like the FCC; so they can be government compliant.
I believe Hori also started that they donāt approve or support any modding as citing doing such will void warranties. Which I agree this is completely fair.
As such Hori are not going to tell you out right how to change or mod their product. Hori telling you or showing you how to mod their product can put them in a compromising position both for corporate security and for legal reasons.
Short answer: Do not expect Hori to tell us/ show us as they not just do not have to they are obligated not to show us the internals.
This is something you got to wait for the modder and hacker community whose unofficial slogan is āI Void Warrantiesā to get their hands on and figure out.
Also to TekkenFan78
How the MK Klassic PDP stick is not a full stick, that wooden housing is bigger and larger than most Mad Catz and Hori arcade sticks.
That is like saying that the NES is not a full game console because it lacks the capabilities of the PS3 and Xbox 360.
To answer last part I say its not a full stick cause its only really good for mk2011 and collection with it barely cutting the mustered on tekken6 lol plus its to big makes my wrist hurt after extended play wich could have more to do with the buttons being so spread out
Would you be able to point us in the right direction as to who at Microsoft we can complain to about that part of the agreement that they seem to have with all peripheral manufacturers? The PS3 version of every stick looks better because of MSās insistence on the color of the face buttons.
On an unrelated note, will Hori be making these Kuro buttons available to arcade parts stores?
In regards to the rep at Microsoft, I donāt knowā¦ In regards to the Kuro buttons, unfortunately we do not sell individual parts for our productsā¦
My biggest reservation on this is that I canāt buy replacement parts for it If Iām buying a $200 stick specifically for its new parts, I need to know that I can buy what I need if something breaksā¦ That paired with a 90 day warranty (which in itself isnāt a huge deal) really makes me sad.
Iām going to have to sit this one out, hopefully Hori reevaluates this decision.
I canāt wait to test the product out and provide feedback on the hardware itself when itās shipped. Whoever is under the Hori account is doing a great job handling the PR. I like the new innovative features being introduced on this controller.
P.S. Finally came back out of hiatus just to type this.
