HORI Fighting EDGE

How’s remapping stuff going to work with dual mod? This is so bizarre.

Put in your own remapping instead when you put in the touch screen stuff.

Cannot.
That is on the stock PCB.

Bah. Is the button for remapping on the touch screen used for anything other than remapping? If not, totally doable.

The button is only used for getting into and out Configuration Mode.

Configuration mode being the button mapping? Still sounds doable. If you’re bringing to Evo, I’d love to see it for a spell.

So you think there is way to carry over the mapping in Dual Mod?
Or like using your product that already does On The Fly?

I’m limited.

Either, but adding something that does only full remapping is a lot of work when it’s barely more for all that + dual mod.

I’d think you could remap anything once you introduce a microcontroller. Read in all button states, spit out button states on digital output pins, listen for remapping input and remap once in that mode, then spit out button states on the changed digital output pins. Maybe that’d work, microcontrollers are just magic to me.

Ok, it’s 1am, just opened my FE and briefly hooked it up to my laptop for a test.

Initial verdict: it’s gorgeous, the stick feels better than the Sanwa on my TE for me, the buttons seem nicely responsive, the LEDs look cool, but I’m not a fan of the touch controls. Also, the layout is SUPERB. The bigger space between the stick and buttons is just right.

This is my new favorite stick. I will tolerate the touch panel, but I definitely prefer real buttons over touch. I don’t like having to look at Start in order to find it. HORI should have at least placed a bump over Start so we could feel for it. Also, on the 360 version they should’ve just left out the CNF touch button completely. It serves no real purpose whatsoever, and just reminds me that it’s a broken feature that can’t truly be used. Makes me mad every time I see the CNF icon on the touch panel.

I hope HORI makes a new Fighting Edge someday with real buttons for the control panel, and leave the CNF off the 360 version.

havent had a chance to read the instructions, but when i was playing on it, i couldnt get the LEDs to flash red :frowning: …i was in tournament mode and the lights stayed solid blue…is there anything i should be doing?

Do you have “vibration” set to “on” in-game?

To be 100% fair, I can understand the decision to make their face buttons standardized colors. Green button will always be green, b button red etc. its not something you or I see as an actual issue but then again this is something we deal with on a fairly regular basis. It may be very helpful to some people.
It’s super easy to have a hate boner for Microsoft, but this is a decision that isn’t hard to rationalize.

On topic, the more I see the touch part of the stick, I hear the sounds, I see how much work (relatively) you need to do to turn off the LEDs, the more I feel that this thing is actually secretly a VCR.

and this sounds like the solution…lol…thanks

all in all, i LOVE the feel of the joystick and the buttons, i dont know why, but they feel more responsive to me. i just hope they can maintain that way over a period of time…im ready to dual mod this bad boy!

Here’s the piece from the FE Site for the 360 Version:
Button Configuration
LB、RB、LT、RT buttons are remappable.
※A・B・X・Y・LB・RB・LT・RT・LSB・RSB・BACK buttons functions can be assigned.

While this statement is stating more of what the 360 FE CAN do rather than cannot, it does put this info out there.

Got mine last night, liking it for the most part. After playing on the VLX for so long it feels weird to have to stretch my arms out to get to the buttons/stick with the increased spacing. Took me like 6 tries to get the LEDs turned on in Normal Mode, anyone else stumble on this?

And FYI, this fits in the Hori RAP Travel Bag, just looks a bit awkward since the dimensions are kinda flipped.

edit:fixed some bad grammar

Any inside pics?

How do you turn LEDs on in normal mode? I didn’t know you could.

While I kind of agree, those people aren’t likely to be the kind spending $200 on a joystick. I think after a certain price point, you’re probably going to be mostly dealing with “enthusiasts” like us who don’t need color coding.

I believe you:

  • Go in Tournament Mode
  • Press the button again and keep holding town to exit Tournament Mode until both your touch panel buttons and LEDs are lit.

I heard this stick is only limited to 500 a piece each system, is there any truth to this or was I just misinformed?

I was gonna hold off on this stick until maybe I find a deal but now I have to get one right away if that’s the case.
