I’m inclined to agree, but they have yet to do a legit fatal fury series sequal in a long time, and they have new hardware that actually doesnt blow snot (taito type x-2) which is already the hardware in use for the new kof game that’s being developed, so there is an inkling of this actually happening.
They are boses but they are not overpowered like in other SNK game boses, the are very beatable. Not to mention Grant has not feint cancels that he can use, if he did have feint cancels then he would still have his infinite. Reason why they took feint cancels aways from him to balance him out more. Kain is hard to user effectively since he is a charge character, his specials aren’t overpowered in anyway either. Compared to Terrys dp + kick which has way more invicibility than his charge down, up + kick. special. If anything from what people already mentioned some new original characters would be great and new stages as well. There are people her in SoCal that play the game and we do our best to get others to play as well. There might not be a SNK scene in the US but there are a few groups of people that try to make something happen. Things will never happen if no one tries, like how we are fixing the arcade scene problem by going console with most major tourney games. Besides all that I for sure can’t wait for Garou 2 to come out and start playing it whenever it does come out.
I dont think the engine itself needs much work. Maybe balance things out with the combos/feint cancels though.
Some new (and old) characters would be a great addition too. Putting in Yama/Geese/Billy/Takuma/etc. would have a great sense of nostalgia. Plus it would be nice to give people an appearance that havent been in any of the newer kof games.
The tag idea could work too. Most people I know play on 5 rounds instead of 3, since 3 tends to go by way too quickly.
Have Krauser, Joe, Andy back and even Geese and maybe a couple of AOF chars
BY the way will there ever be a AOF4 as there should have been one after AOF3, storyline wise
Having Rock as the main boss is freakin’ genius. I love the idea. It fits the storyline perfectly (given Rock’s ending), and I even wouldn’t mind him being taken out of regular play, as long as he’s selectable in some manner (like most boss selects, and maybe toned down a bit from his boss form). Some might say that’s going too far, but personally, I don’t care much for doppleganger matches in story modes. They’re just too hard to justify. And unless we get a brand new boss, I really don’t want to see any older bosses return, outside of Kain that is. “New” characters should be SNKs main concern with this sequel.
But thats what they did with the first one, with the exception of Terry. Sure, Id love to see some more new characters, but you gotta throw in some old ones as well, even if its to cater to the older fans of the series.
Krauser, Blood, Franko Bash. Characters like these that we haven’t seen in years, they’re the ones that should be thrown in. (as far as the older characters go)
In an effort to canonize the coexistence of the happenings of Garou and KoF, in the story they should mention Kyo entering the tournament. But of course he would be eliminated because he had no personal grudge with anyone involved in the plot of Garou(eliminated by Terry).
Tizoc is the shit, they should throw in Raiden/Big-bear though as well. You can never have too many grapplers.
That it gives you live back, which is stupid IMHO and that you can do that against projectiles. I also never liked in 3rd for example, that you could Parry a Hadoken, wth …
@about that Rock Boss thing
Well, I think the idea is not bad, exspecially when I consider him and Kain as a team … Rock lost in Kains ideals maybe, so as a real bad guy …, that would add much to his char. However, I would still like it, if Terry kicks both of their asses and Rock comes to his senses and getting good again (Maybe like a Obi Wan vs Vader thing, just a bit different o_O). Then in a part 3 Rock would be a tested hero and finaly makes it on top as Terry retires or something like that …
Whatever, as long as Terry stays a strong char and everything in the game is at least decent I buy it for sure …
where did you get this image? and is there more?
…btw…Ricky Strouwd…didn’t he beat Terry in RB II? better to bring him in as a rival for the lone wolf. He’d be perfect. Mai should come back for craps and scraps. FF’s best girl. Blue Mary can even out the grapplers. Bash would be really old, wouldn’t he? Wilson would look amazing on the new system as a Cap. artist with a nice Elena like feel. Krauser got his ass kicked by Terry so he’s questionable at best. If Ryo is in this one, then it would be fitting to throw Robert/Yuri in to raise money for their dojo… this might be far fetched, but hey… Kasumi/Todo would be another one too. AOF is a bit into FF, so there is a good restriction.
If SNK does bring back the system, no fusion groove crap. They do that too much. If they allow you to choose between two grooves, old and new style, that’d be cool.
Ehhh…while I do side with the overall notion for more grapplers, I never really cared for Raiden/BB. He can go fall in a well and die, for all I care.
But I do think that Tizoc the Griffon could use some competition. Hell, as long as he’s yet another parody on the legendary “Tiger Mask”, why not do more with that concept? Give him a “Black Griffon” that can serve as his rival-antagonist, or a “Kid Griffon” that could serve as his younger partner (still would be in his 20s) that would have some different moves to add overall to their “luchadore” dynamic.
Oh, and of course, Mary needs to come back too. :wgrin:
As for Rock becoming a boss? Well…it’d be an improvement, as far as I’m concerned. Rock as he is now, an angsting youth that loathes his father’s legacy and struggles to “make a name for himself” doesn’t make him any more interesting. Rock as a cool, calculating, cunning SOB with some sort of a “neutral with good tendecies”, with the competency needed in order to run Southtown as a just ruler? Bad-ass. I don’t think Rock will ever become a true villain, but it would be interesting to see him come back over to Terry’s side after a good fight, just with a different dynamic that would show that he’s become his own man, one that can embrace both sides of his “heritage” without succumbing to either of them.
That’s the kind of development that I could stand Rock to have. The different series of SNK’s have plenty enough angst cases already. Let’s have at least one ready to turn in his “A-card”…
I got it from the forbidden games section of NeoBlitz Protoypes. You can have a look at the full page here. Apparently that picture was a scan from a catalog or something. There are no more true pics of the game as far as I know. The intro screen they display is a mock up.
P.S. I loved Rick Strowd from RB2! He was my favorite FF character for a long time. Wouldn’t mind seeing Li Xiangfie pop in too. Actually now that I think about it, it might be really cool to see Alfred or White make an appearance. I’ve never had the chance to play Dominated Mind, and have only seen these characters via screenshots, so there is an air of mystery about them to me. Plus from what I read, White was never a selectable character.
If the AOF folks be in the game, they should be older then in KOF. Ryo is definetly older then Terry, if you think about AOF1 and FF1. Ryo’s alternate version would be nice and a Yuri in maybe her early 30’s or so? Just in case she could be added to …
Ryo I could see, but Rob and Yuri? Well, I would think that the two would’ve finally gotten hitched together by now, and living a pretty good life together in Rob’s home country, thanks to Mr. Garcia being born into wealth.
How about their kid(s) dropping by to say hi to “Uncle Ryo”, instead? :wgrin:
But otherwise, yeah, like I said earlier, there should be more AOF dudes brought back into the mix. And it doesn’t have to be necessarily limited to the likes of Sakazaki bunch, Eiji, the Todohs and/or Mr. Big either…
I think that the ability to cancel a super into another one would create some interesting possibilities. Probably end up unbalancing teh game though but if done right I think it could add a little to the game.
Sounds cool… kinda like KOFXI.
Maybe have a three level meter this time around, for Supers (1 bar), Potentials (2 bars), and Hidden Potentials (3 bars), but allowing for Supers to be canceled into Potentials for a bit more damage (still keeping Hiddens the most damaging though). Keeping in mind associated changes, so the system could be modified while not breaking the original setup too much. This would mean a player would obviously have to hold out more on using these moves or find ways to safely build stock, and maybe even lose a round just to get enough stock to be able to pull them off. And the damage would need to be adusted accordingly as well, but I think it could work.
Edit: In any case no cancel or hidden should do more than 80% damage (I’m considering T.O.P. enhancements in that btw.), that would just be sick.
I would probably see Ryo/Mr. Karate as playing more like Takuma from 2002. With some similar supers to Serious Mr. Karate from SvC: Chaos. Although that is assuming he is a hidden boss.
Hopefully, if SNKP is working on MotW2, they won’t screw the game by placing it near the next KOF release, like they did NGBC and SS:Tenka.
I love the music of this game, I hope the ost for the sequel would be such as good.I’m crossing fingers…
