Honzo's crazy ask thread/I'll help yah out thread/I don't own a ps3 thread

Honzo.

Zero(Uppercut)/Dante(Jam Session)/Ryu(Tatsu)

Could’ve said that from the start, came into this thread just to ask cause someone said something on GAF and Gfaqs.

Hello, you seem like a pretty strong man who is good at video gaemz.

What’s your opinion of this team: Doom(Hidden M)/Task(H. Shot)/Akuma(Tatsu) ?
Would you make any adjustment to the order, assists or straight up change characters? Really don’t mind replacing akuma since I love high execution combos, I need something to grind in training mode as I don’t have enough people to play with. Let me know please

So who are they adding in as DLC?

Thanks for answering.

  1. don’t know
  2. single to my knowledge
  3. Champ as publicly stated as wanting to play rocket and wright so we’ll see. I have three teams for ult that I’ll be using for the first 2-3 months, you’ll just have to wait and see

Well lets start with the best setup possible, what you should be striving for lets say. The best setup possible, concerning mixups, is multiple completely ambigious 50/50’s that in all phases of the setup lead into a combo and you are safe during the entire setup. Now that is the golden grail at least to me, but in general the safer you are and the more ambigious it is the better the setup.

Finding good setups usually stems from your creative juices or just lab time where your screwing around and you figure out something. For example, with thor/hulk I have a setup that stems from me dropping a combo in training mode. The setup goes I do a basic combo and ground them, back up a bit as I call hulk then charge up M mighty strike. usually I am supposded to hit them with the strike to further combo them but in this instance I purposefully miss it so they roll out right into an overhead, because everyone assumes you float back down with thor after that move, plus if they roll out of the corner with proper spacing I can make it cross them up.

So, developing a setup that covers a wide range of what the opponent is going to do is key. There is a reason setups on incommming chars are really good, its because the options of the incomming char are really bad compared to when they are playing the neutral game with you. It illustrates the point the less options the opponent has the better the setup. At least in my opinion.

I like the team and you explained it for the most part, the only thing is I think wrights walk forward assist will be better for hulk than missile, just due to combo extension and pressure game, but I understand you want the mixup factor.

Thanks Honz. I never really understood the capacity for setups outside of basic “high/low mixups while in blockstun” and “mix em up when they come in.”

What do you think about Doctor Strange’s Bolts of Balthak assist? Is the fact that it can be crouched/walked under by tiny characters enough to make it a poor choice? I really like the idea of using it for X-23 because having a beam that also provides a decent lockdown seems absolutely perfect for her.

when does the FT50 start?

I love how quickly the Arthur and X leaks spread to all the sites lmao.

You aren’t ever allowed to wear a Captain America shirt without playing him again.

5pm pst

I’m going to wear it again at unvc2 just to make you mad

nina jilliams has no business cosplaying as a good character design

anyway im thinking captain america/vergil/hawkeye, decent?

Also, good luck! (not joking, good luck.)

Doom in vanillia does everything magneto does just to a lesser intensity. Doom has the same trijump mixup, same keepaway ability, same damage output, same screen control, can convert damage off of random anti air hits (mag admittingly does it better). Mag’s mobility far outshines doom though, but doom makes up for that in the assist department. Regarding space control mag dominates horiz and doom dominates vertical, they both have similar diagonal space control.

So, as you can tell he’s really good, just not stupid god tier roflface tier like magneto. They toned down magneto and buffed up doom in every aspect. Why I do not know, I understand it is hard to use doom but in capable hands he’s really good. Also, with him having good assists he is mostly an anchor and doom on anchor is really hard to get used to, since doom really needs to pin someone down to do succesful mixups.

Do I think doom needed buffs? no
Do I personally think doom needed buffs? HELL YEAH LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
He will probably be top 3 in the game now

Can you state this in a question please, instead of just stating it. In history class when your teacher asked you if you had any questions about the crossing of the Rhine I’m sure you didn’t stand on your desk and just yell “HITLERRRRRRRRR”.

I’ve been known to lift multiple te’s at once :nunchuck:

I like the team, I don’t know how much akuma benefits doom as much as someone like sent drones, dorm dark hole, or ammy cold star would. Akuma does have some crazy combos, but no1 really does them. If you are looking for high execution swap out akuma for viper. You lose the awesome akuma assist, but you gain dark viper who gets exponentially scary as she gains meter. If you can learn vipers combos/mixups you will literally make your opponent shit is mind. If you have not played against one of the viper triumvirate (kbeast, marlin pie, chrisis) then you just don’t know. Plus you can swap viper on point or second, since she benefits greatly from both assists, especially doom missiles. Just go into the viper forums as yell a series of words at chrisis and ask him for tips or just lurk some of the posts.

I am more intrested in his beam assist for potential conbos, since its quite unique. If you are looking for a mixup tool I don’t think bolts is your go to with strange, I think his discs are better for mixups plus you can control more space with them, since they track. If you are looking for beam assists I would suggest modok, but you would have to learn modok. But x-23/modok is actually a really good duo, since x-23 can pick up the knockback that modok causes with feints.

But yeah use discs if you want a mixup assist.

What do you think of using Frank West (Shopping cart assist or Plunger stabs)/MODOK (Psionic Blaster)/Doctor Doom (Hidden Missiles).

Frank’s lockdown helps MODOK, Hidden Missiles is one of the best assists for MODOK, Psionic Blaster will help with Frank’s roll mixups, and Hidden Missiles helps Frank approach and adds hits to his combos for camera PP.

My bad, what do you think of this team Honzo.

Zero(Uppercut)/Dante(Jam Session)/Ryu(Tatsu)

Which is the better team of the two (ignore the ordering).

Strider/Dante/Vergil or Zero/Strider/Taskmaster

One of the reasons I was liking Bolts so much was that it would provide some lockdown too, but I might go with discs afterall if they’re that much better for mixups. Hm…Modok huh? I always thought his assist would be good for her, but learning him seems so daunting. Do you think he’s a good character? I’m not even totally sure how he should be used.

Well modok/doom is a proven duo that does well so lets look at the other synergies.

Frank/doom will work fine since doom will cover any vomitting you may do, and any random interrupt with missiles converts into a combo which converts into levels. Plus you can tack on the missiles at the end to get an extra camera shot in or do a relaunch combo. The beam would be nice, but you need to find a way to combo off of it midscreen, since it causes a long knockback.

Assistwise I would say shopping cart would be better, but the horizontal movement might cause problems midscreen. Plus with plungers you can analyze cube 1-2 times before continuing the combo.

dhc wise you can have a broken setup for two meters with modok/frank, do grab super then dhc into anti air when they jump and vice versa which is a funny setup.

well the entire team is good I would put dante last though, he seems to be a better anchor than ryu and less of a gimmick (lol beamsssssssss)

you indicated in da streamworld that you wanted to use ryus denjin as a way to power his assist, and I don’t think thats a good idea. Since meter is decreased you need to justify your meter usage on buffing assists and if it doesn’t have drastic effects (ie hsienko or zeros uppercut) then don’t
