Honzo's crazy ask thread/I'll help yah out thread/I don't own a ps3 thread

If you are coming into this thread for me leaking things I don’t know then don’t expect me to answer, you can wait till the 15th just like me.

Ain’t Back/Select how you go to reserve teams in the new game? So LB/L1 is free too. Also, Felieca’s alt is Nun costume (It’s called a Habit i believe?) Vergil’s is almost certainly Nelo Angelo from DMC1. I hope Tron’s alt is that baby, or her in her lab coat.

interesting. so the assist buttons on the default stick configuration? cool then.

PERSONALLY i liked how blazblue had a zillion colors that you could access by pressing like. select. or something

[S]There are 8 buttons on the Madcatz fightsticks. One is the back button, 6 are for colors, and one is an alt color. There is no room for a second alt.[/S] And apparently Tron’s alt is Frank West.

Edit: Never mind, just saw Honzo’s previous post. Thanks for the info Honzo!

O great and wise Honzo, I beseech you for some tips on playing Dormammu. I presently use him mostly for Level 3 X-Factor chip shenanigans. I’ve recently started playing against someone regularly that doesn’t suck total ass, and he’s realized how shitty I am with him, and been snapping him in 24/7. I get raped. Prison style.

I just sort of… flounder without having my fiery balls of doom to fall back upon. What do?

Honzo… I’ve got another question for ya. I want to thank you on the pressure advice you gave me earlier in this thread though. It helped my game quite a bit.

So now I’m realizing that my current problem is setups. I’m not even sure about where to start here since I don’t have a good understanding of what makes a good setup. Aside from the obvious situations (acid rain 50/50, corner resets, conditioning your opponent to do certain things, etc) what does a good setup entail and how would I go about finding out what they are?

Oh. Well i play Pad so i didn’t know that.

Well lets break it down.

frank on point seems like a good idea, but I think assists that extend combos are going to do him the best since his core machanic depends on a lot of hits and long combos. So, mystic ray may be useful since it lasts a long time, and it’s also a good zoning tool. Striders assist is better to counter zoners, I don’t think frank will have a problem with zoners since he has a projectile, roll, and slide, so if you can find an application for it in combos then you should be good.

Frank dies because you got mixed up, so your stuck with shuma/strider. Shumas going to have a hard time to get in, he literally has 0 safe options by himself, and striders assist doesn’t cause enough hitstun to make him safe, so your going to have a reallllllllllllllllllly hard time making shuma work.

strider anchor will be decent if you can get three meters and you just go hulkamania on the opponent with ouroborus and xf, but one random hit or one fuck up your toast, so its a risky gambit that might work if you can control strider.

hmm that sounds like a tactic I use with ammy. It’s a good idea to lame out xfactors and to stall the clock and be a dick, but don’t do it against teleporters and make sure if you come down that you have a meter. Modok’s grab super as you hopefully well know should always be an option for you. But yeah its a solid tactic.

its a bit faster than tasks and causes similar hitstun if I recall correctly, it has the same strengths as taskmasters atm, since we don’t know the durability yet, but if I had to guess its similar to tasks.

hawkeye as an anchor is going to be kinda iffy, since he doesn’t really threaten those that just do nothing. We will have to see his chip game in xfactor to get a good estimate on his sustainability as an anchor. If he is doing stuff gimlet xfc gimlet will definitely hurt A LOT, plus you can blow through everything with qcf+h and its FASTER. So, we will have to wait and see, but he does have the tools to be a good anchor.

I hate tier lists without playing the game for awhile, so I don’t think an accurate tier list can be made. That being said I will list really good and good.

really good: hawkeye, dr strange, rocket, nova, vergil, nemesis, frank,
good:wright, iron fist, strider, firebrand, ghost rider

strider has some really good mixups and solid tools, his problem is that he is really delicate and if you can’t control him then he can get snatched and killed really easily. That being said his offense/mixup game is solid and he has a lot of reset potential.

Dear Honzo, what do you think of this?

Wright(Missile)/ Hulk(Anti-Air)/Doom(Plasma)

Wright looks like a point character by design and I can’t see him anywhere else.

Hulk for “Teleporters get off my dick” button which Wright seems to really need for evidence gathering. Hulk also seems to be a lot better in general now.

Doom seems like a strong anchor and I already know how to use him pretty well. Plasma Beam can be used as a combo extender and a general projectile assist.

Also out of general curiosity, do you know if there is any DLC currently planned outside of Heroes and Heralds mode and the DLC costumes?

Sounds about right. If only Shuma had a better way of getting in other than that slow ass airdash and [air] Mystic Smash H. I’ll play with this team for a while however. Might swap him for Vergil if it gets too bad.

Thanks for the assist bro!

So. Ultimate NorCal vs. Capcom 2. Some questions.

  1. Retail disc or another demo disc? The load times from the demo disc were annoying long, so hoping that it’s retail.
  2. Single-elim or double? I’m fine with single, but I got my fingers crossed for double.
  3. Who’s interested in what over there? Crispy’s interested in PW, and you’re looking at Rocket. Heard anything from anyone else? Dacid still rocking Cap and Vergil? Champ finally showing off that Ghost Rider I’ve heard about?

Health nerf wasn’t as big as a lot of people thought it would be, but after listening to Wakeup SRK today I feel a bit different. A lot of the things I use with Wesker aren’t “common” so likely he’ll still work perfectly fine for me, I will have to be wary about how the gun juggling changes since I do use it in a couple of my setups. Kinda like how people are still finding new stuff with other characters (especially Dante apparently). Thankfully I was dropping Akuma already and had been working on anchorish Wesker for awhile, so the assist changes won’t be as bad.

I aint honzo but:

  1. Use a move/assist that forces your opponent to block on the ground and gives you enough time to switch to the other side or work a overhead/low/command throw on them.

Thats basically it. Its the same situation in different parts of the screen. You can set it up on an opponent coming IN from a killed character, after an assist, after an x-factor, after and air reset…etc etc

Honzo, what are your sentiments regarding the Doom buffs?

In answering this, I’m interested in your thoughts regarding…

Doom in his current state (vanilla). What do you think of him there?

Doom’s buffs, are they reasonable or not?

Overall impact of Doom, do you have any concerns or personal regards?

well the most obvious and most helpful advice I could give you is to block better. I have a quote earlier in the thread about blocking, but yeah blocking that mixup so you can dhc out is paramount.

Without knowing your team I’m assuming you want some general tips on how to use dorm on point. Well as you hopefully know flame carpet is a really good tool to keep people off your back for abit. You can use dark hole and purification as safe chip options as well as a predicting zoning tactic (predict where they will be and place a pillar or hole there). You should learn how to tri jump mixup with his light aswell as well as super jump over them then quickly airdash down for an ambiguous S. If they are full screen and can’t punish you just ball and then raw tag, since this gives your incoming char a good way to mixup/apply pressure. His cr. m and S are both good anti airs, and his air throw has some good range and leads to some solid damage, especially with good assists.

In regards to you depending on your anchor. Lets say your team is x/y/dorm. For you to be successful your team needs to be fluid and adaptive to all situations. x/y should still be a functioning team and y/x should still be a functional team. You need to practice with some of these theoretical situations in mind. I have a team consisting of thor/hulk/doom. I have combos and tactics to get in when doom is dead and its hulk/thor and thor/hulk respectively. You just have to plan and practice, so when you are in these situations you won’t flounder around.

Just curious Honzo, how do you know X is Zero’s dlc alt?

I’m psychic

Really wish I could’ve gotten a real response, oh well, I tried…

I would refer you to the top of the page but that would be too obvious
