Honzo's crazy ask thread/I'll help yah out thread/I don't own a ps3 thread

What do you learn while picking up a new character? I want to play a new team (Task/Chris/Spencer), and I can’t play any of the characters, how do you usually practice?

with wesker and doom, midscreen you can teleport mixups with beam assist all day and literally just press buttons for block strings. Then you can segway into command grab mixups or instant over heads or just keep teleport mixing them up. You can use the back teleport (i think m) to stay safe and then just gun teleport with beam to hitconfirm into a combo. with wesker you can just deem when you want to pressure the opponent. You can use dantes jam session to anti air and setup predictible vectors of them falling down and then snatch them with wesker in the air or get free mixups off of a block jam session in the air.

dante just got utilize bold cancel, stinger bold cancel reverb fireworks is free pressure, chip, and poke. using bold cancel to cancel block strings into an air dash for free pressure and free mixups. c l has no pushblock on hit or block so you can poke up close with it. but yah reverb to fireworks is win. dante doom teleport mixup is self explanatory.

with doom i would suggest looking the doom forums, i forget what thread but deviljin posted a long ass post describing how doom could negate pushblock via dash/jump canceling that sums up doom pressure srings up nicely

for doom hes pretty self sufficent, like I don’t need to do much to make surehes ok, also if you look at the options that taskmaster has when doom is being hit I can time arrows to hit once your punishing, and when hes getting juggled a missile will save him, so its not really a thought process that I employ it just generally is. I do try and take into account possible punishes when i call him, its just that i try and cover that with arrows, and its easy to get past if your the right char and make the right decision( wesker wesker weskerweskerarkwrsakr).

lol i just try to do what the opponent doesn’t expect me to do, and not pressing a button is sometimes the answer.

Just how important much priority does an assist character’s health have on your team in general?

Say… my point character and assist character celebrate a happy birthday and they are both in bad shape. Should I blow XF so that my point character can stay alive and heal while my assist recovers? I might be able to fish for hits while in XF.

XF can have more applications besides just offense and it could prove useful depending on the team you are fighting(blowing XF against a team using Akuma or Dormammu as an anchor is probably a bad idea lol).

I am dropping ammy, keeping task doom

hawkeye, iron fist, nova, rocket, and wright are possible fill ins

I want to use a new char either on point or second

i dont know what exactly you mean o_O

no, I would honestly go to a doctor if you have the means because that might be indicative of a bigger problem, or a developing one. I have played marvel matches for 34 hours straight and I haven’t had a hand twitch.

Will do. Thanks.

what i mean is i have a hard time doing the more advanced stuff in the game like tri dash doom combos i always seem to dash in the wrong direction or mess up completely…what im saying i suck at doing some of the better high level stuff are there any tricks to the trade that make stuff easier to handle like tri-dashing?

you know you just got to sit down and practice.

for example, the whole buktooth combo was literally incomprehensible to me when I was starting out, I literally couldn’t concieve how I would transfer the timing and hand movements into a combo. You ahve to understand my basis is sf4 not mvc2, so the air dashes and shit were crazy to me. But I sat in training mode, lurked in the forums for tips, and forced myself to learn the combo. The more you practice the more consistent you will be.

If your fucking up a certain aspect of a combo, try just repeating the part your fucking up. You said you had trouble doing the tridashes mid combo, well practice tridashing for 10-30 mins straight until you can do it at will, then try the combo again. Break down the combo into parts, and see how you can learn the specfic hard part faster, by isolating it and focusing on it.

ps if I haven’t answered your post I will im going out of order bc i was busy earlier and now im going to bed, so I will thoughtfully answer your posts, just when im not busy

What is your opinion on Deadpool or MODOK as characters?

i don’t have anything to ask but i just wanted to say as a fellow task player, good shit with task.

(see sig team) What should be my go to set up for opening people up with Taskmaster? Is drones a good compliment or should I be looking for something faster?

/Posting in a gdlk thread

Why is Chris Redfield so hot?
Why does Taskmaster have 300 abs?
Why does Doctor Doom always tell me I have no hope?
Why does anyone use X-23 when Wolverine is right there?
Why is Ammy such a boring character to watch/play?
Why is Tron such an annoying character to play against?
Why does Wesker have an unlimited amount of shades?

I must know Honzo. These questions have bothered me for months :frowning:

Also, will I be better at mahvel if I wear a newsboy cap?

Hey Honzo here’s one, we all know Tasky is superb at being lame but how do you feel about his offensive options? I have on point with my Current team Task/Dante/Akuma and it seems like his damage is too sick to pass up. Normally I just hop around all like " I C U ! " but when I punish 800k damage feels so tasty. Is it viable to play Tasky as rushdown character with that team and how would you do so?

What’s the timing for Task’s arrow lift for relaunch? Are there any visual/audio cues? Or is it just a timing that you have to practice and learn?

Hey you were a dick to me when we played on psn after I messaged GGs. What can I do to suck less?

But seriously I can’t figure out the relaunch with arrow timing either.

^That’s someone else

Methinks Honzo might have too much of a life to maintain this thread o_O

edit: . . . and then he posts right after me

A wise man once suggested that practice was the driving force of why consistent top players are good in every game, they knew how to practice. So, this is a very important trait to learn.

First, I would go into the indiv char forums and lurk around for some general info, just to get a feel for what works, basic combos, etc. Just so you aren’t lost when your in training mode. You can also look to match videos to see how others play the char, you don’t necessarily have to xcopy them, just note what works.

Then I would go into training mode practice some bnbs, then mess around with dhc synergy–dhcing into the next two chars with each char on point. The reason I do this is because while I might not be good with the chars yet I want to do a lot of damage once I touch you, even if its meter intensive, because the opposing player has way more matchup experience with his team then mine. If your totally new to the char I would look at the normal hitboxes more closely, just so you can determine when to use them/ be more comfortable in more situations. For example I know that cr. M with taskmaster beats tron assist clean at the right distance.

Assist synergy is a big deal, but I always forget to stress it because I’m so used to the assists I know general possibilities with most of them, and in this game if you can think it you have a 90% chance of it being possible. Like based on your team I can see how spencer assist can both aid in combos and aid in full screen setups into combos based on wheather or not hes using forward or slant wire grapple. Like maybe full screen arrows into spencers forward grapple into combo, or using slant to aid you in the tasky relaunch or using slant to reset the opponent into a standing position at the end of a chris combo so that the grenade super fully connects then you can flamethrower into fungun super. You just have to have a good imagination when it comes to the assist synergies.

Now when the game was first out I used this same team, and I would go into training mode for long periods of time in order to learn things. I would like to stress that the more time you put in, the better the results are. I didn’t even play my first online match until I hade spent 5 hours in training mode trying to learn how the game worked.

Now you can take this practice and apply it to real matches (hopefully offline), learn new things in those matches, go back to training mode, see something cool a top player does, go back to training mode, your buddy says the word “omit”, go back to training mode, your dog barks, go back to training mode.

Practicing is an ongoing process that takes time and effort to garner results from, but most importantly in this game is using your imagination. Your imagination is probably your best tool.

(I don’t practice resets, bc I try and kill in one touch generally)
