Uses ground bounce and you need OTG assist and/or spacing specific combos to get over 600k. Yeah the hitbox is ridiculous but people are way more scared than they should me.

Not everyone plays Zero and can just do godlike H/airthrow option select all day :lol: Some characters have shitty normals…like Thor.

It’s not like he can score any damage off of his throws (ohwaitwesker) or open people up (ohwaitpipe+wesker) either.

Remember that it’s a team building game. There are ways to make a character effective, even if the end result isn’t Top 8 worthy. It’s fun to flex your team building muscle every now and see if people know what to do against X character with Y assist.

Haggar/Wesker/Dormammu. Team Bizarro Viscant: for when you’re sick of playing with characters with bitch-tier health and you want to smack the taste out of a guy with manly men and a flaming-headed broad in the back. That’s what I did anyway. It’s fun for casual play.

A good team is characters you like to use, I am a firm believer that 90% of team combinations can work as long as you are dedicated to your characters. Now of course some character pairings are just better than some other ones (wesker/doom is better than wesker/hulk for example0. This is due to assist synergy for the most part. Some chars on point benefit greatly from a projectile assist because they have a hard time getting in, while other chars benefit greater from a lockdown assist because they have no trouble getting in, but rather are based on mixups and need help with pinning opponents.

So, a good team is a well structured group of characters that you are dedicated to learning their various idiosyncrasies and whose assists mutually benefit each other.

viper and doom buffs were probably the most unnecessary, the most necessary buff is probably chris’s. Nerf wise wesker, zero, dante, phoenix, mag, tron/haggar, trish were probably justified if you think about it balance wise. Jill shouldn’t have been nerffed, like shes good and all, but she doesn’t deserve the nerf. I understand shes secret top tier, but she takes so much work to get there that the nerffing of her is ridiculous.

I just want to say I’ve never heard of Honzo before this thread and now I’m following him everywhere

How do you feel about Nemesis?

I think he is the worst character in UMVC3. His armor on his moves are not like Sentinels, the armor property seems to go away fairly quickly, not lasting throughout the animation, but only for the first second or so. His armor super is really bad, like really, REALLY, bad. I’ve yet to find a practical application, it seems like it would be a good THC super for some teams but on its own its only used to punish whiffed attacks at a very close range. When it is blocked, you can see how truly weak it is. It is so slow that if you continue to block it without advanced guarding you can just throw him in the middle of it.

It seems like at the start of the match you only have two options:

  1. hold backwards
  2. mash throw
    is this true or can it go deeper than that? If so what are your other options

also, what do you think of Hawkeye’s poison assist?

i have a few questions:

-since mvc3 was the first competitive game i have take in a serious way im trying to improve, but is really hard when you are an “anti-toptiers” (only play has characters i like or are funny to play) do you think im bad with this position in some way?
-according to mvc3 triangle (?) my defense is an average, i know stand blocking low when the opponent is on ground and start blocking high if the opponent is standing airbone, but, sometimes i fail at blockstrings (and i don’t like way to much advancing guard), what do you recommend to me?

Nemesis will be good. He has extremely long range multi hitting pokes he can wall bounce and ground bounce which extends his combo abilities. He has a command grab from which he can combo after easily. Got a decent projectile. His rocket super is extremely flexible and useful, since it tracks so you can dhc/connect it with ease and you are right next to the opponent to start immediate wakeup pressure. Kara level 3 is really nasty. His damage and poking ability combined with his ability to play a diverse playstyle (lame and rushdown) will aid him greatly in his matches.

Super armor is great, but you don’t need super armor. The armored super will be used to punish other supers and we still don’t know the combo applications of the super. Plus dhcing to punish super will be good. I.E full screen beam super you are spencer you arm 3/4’s of the way then dhc so nemesis can cover the rest of the distance.

there are certantly more options (optionselect back dash and throw, jump attacks, antiairs, option select air throws, random super, etc), but you honestly have to base what you do on what you think they are going to do.

So, if I’m fighting a wolvie/akuma team I know about 99% of the time what they are going to do at the start of the match. 9/10 times they will mash assist while trying to dive kick as quickly as possible. Knowing this I do not call ammy because akumas assist will catch her, and if I screw up and get hit by either of them then its a 2 for 1. So, I can accept the mixup, try and one frame air grab them, or just super jump.

I could list a bunch of situations, but just take into condsideration of their character and assist strengths as and try and base your decision around that.

poisen assist is super awesome, I have some combos in mind with task and him, but rocket is so cute o_O

I want to use a team of Phoenix Wright/Hsien-Ko/Amaterasu in UMvC3. I’ve been theorizing based on what I know, but I’d like to know your opinion. I think Amaterasu would be best as my anchor because of her versatility and the Cold Star assist. What I’m not sure about is who should be the point character. Phoenix Wright seems to be popular as a point character, but making Hsien-Ko use her golden ability to protect Phoenix makes sense too. Who would you have as the point character?

My second question is, should Hsien-Ko use her gong assist when teamed up with Phoenix or is Senpu Bu the best way to go no matter what? And for that matter, Phoenix’s Missile assist is pretty much the assist of choice, right?

There’s been a lot of debate on whether or not Ghost Rider has any staying power. Some think he’ll only be good at first, then once people crack him open he’ll have a really rough time. What do you think?

you should play chars you like, if you like a top tier then who gives a fuck. There are people who legimately love dante, and they should play him whether he is bad or good. Now if you don’t like the chars playstyle thats a diff thing, but not playing someone because they are good is scrub thinking. You want people to look to you as “that guy” and you want to feel special in some way. Unless you’re a combonaut you most likely won’t be original, so who cares. At a tourney no one is going to say " You use wolverine? ILL FUCK YOU TO DEATH YOU F@GGOT??~!!!" (ok besides me at ncr to that guy I never met (no regrets)), so don’t sweat it. Plus you can do well with low tiers in marvel, just gotta put work in. If your losing a lot chances are its not your characters, they don’t dictate things such as blocking or you being nervous and things like that.

in ultimate, ammy is going to be a realllllllllly good anchor due to her speed up in xf, so yeah keep that.

If your goal for hsienko is to use her like a roving sheild for phoenix as he gathers evidence, then put her on point and gong super and raw tag phoenix or get two meters gong super dhc in a combo.

unless her gong is improved to be super hella godly (which I sincerely doubt) then no, never use it ever. Just use senpu for the gfto/shield abilities, and if you need to protect yourself from projectiles then just use maya.

I could list all the strengths of ghost, but let me just point out that someone that has normals like ghost rider just can’t be bad. The only thing he lacks really is a mixup game, but if you use an assist that hits high you can do 3/4 of the screen unblockables that lead to 700k, so you just need to use some assists to flesh him out.
